  1. And the beat goes on.... Have to wonder if the "Info overload" provided by the internet also contributes to this in addition to the cost associated with doing a quality show. Just think, (at least IMO)-25 or 30 years ago you waited for your new copy of HDT or Diesel Equipment Superintendent, or CCJ or Fleet Owner to see what was new. Today? Forget it. You have the news the day the new product is announced-nothing like seeing it in person, but it does not have the same impact it did years ago.
  2. For what good it will do. fire off your letters to your senators and reps. Its easy with their web sites. Absolute bullshit! I always come back to one question. IF you aren't going to build a bomb, and IF you have more oil than you need to generate electricity, and If with your oil money you can buy all the nuclear medicine you need, than WTF do you need a nuclear capability for?
  3. And this means??? Is Navistar now out of the inhouse engine business and is outsourcing casting or do they have another???
  4. opps-Sorry about that-hard to distinguish I guess which side of the Rio Grande we are talking about!
  5. How true- If I were a CEO, I would have a tough time making a significant investment in a country run by outlaws. But I'm told.."no the outlaws only rule certain parts of the country"...I guess that's today?
  6. Checked them out- 47 employees in Mich. sales office- their website does not offer an English translation. they claim to be supplying "10 US Pick ups with components" as well as mush south American HD production Must be Ford did not mention this to UAW when they bargained bringing 650/750 back to US.
  7. With a handle like "Blackdog" they know NOT to believe you!
  8. Guys- thx for the nice comments. Last year was our first at the Fairgrounds (over 500 trucks) and we learned some lessons. Hopefully we will do a better job of getting show trucks in off Rt 117 as well as improving spectator parking. Exit 27 495, at Rt 117 Bolton. Head WEST on 117, 4.5 miles. Bob
  9. Not completely true- probably 3 more crane operator jobs in West Coast ports, maybe a tug captain or two (those container ships take a lot of tug HP when loaded-leaving port-not so bad-most of the containers will be empty! Just think-the biggest container ship carries over 12,000 containers! That is 12,000 trailer loadsthat will not be leaving a US factory shipping dock. The world trade theory sounds good. And it is a global economy. I just can't believe though that we end up on the right end of the stick when it comes to the countries covered in this latest agreement . I have no trouble buying a Freud saw blade-made in Germany or Italy or Switzerland-fair competition from a labor perspective-its the third world shit holes that CEO's will capitalize on to get the lowest possible labor cost to satisfy the "financial analysts" IMO
  10. until
Fairgrounds at Lancaster, Home of the Bolton Fair Rt. 117, Lancaster MA Exit 27, 495, West on 117 Approx. 3 Miles
  11. Auburn? I do believe that was Red Star's HQ address.
  12. You are ringing a bell on "upstate". Might be right on Red Star. Couple of other names than come to my mind are Inland Express and Onieda?
  13. Don't think so. The Sightliner had a BBC that was under 50" I think. Also I believe it was offered in V-8 gas only
  14. Wonder how much they have been upgrading the rest of the power train beyond the transmission-like u joints, drive shafts, rear differential. These torque numbers (all of them-PStroke and Duramax as well) can be real killers when an idiot driver puts his foot in it and in a worse case scenario, his tires have good traction because of heavy axle loading. Tires may not break loose-but something else will!
  15. thx Rich-nice job
  16. Kind of foots with everything I have heard about them-no complaints, simple and dependable.
  17. Agree on the Cargo. Ford has a big gap in their lineup now as the Transit's max GCW is 10,300 lbs and while I hear good things about the 3.2L Ford Duratorque diesel, there is no diesel LCF type truck above that. And the E 450 cutaway'sdays are numbered although I think they sell around 4000 of those a month. These are built at the Avon Lake Ohio plant that on July 13th (15th?) will start building the new 650/750. Ranger too but that is wishful thining-anything that takes away from150 sales is out of the question I'm afraid.
  18. Seems like a no brainer for GM to keep the dealers happy-Not sure how I would feel however if I were an Isuzu dealer. I thought for sure if GM got back in they would take up Ford's space in the Navistar Escobedo plant. Instead of a Ford Super Duty cab sitting on a Navistar 4000 chassis, you would see a 3500 GM cab. Maybe later? In any case, the little Isuzu diesels have a good rep and that should cause some concern at Ford unless they can engineer their Transit diesel option into something bigger than 10,300 lbs GVW which is currently their biggest van diesel option. Not everyone wants a conventional cab, V-8 powered truck in the 14,000-26,000 lb range IMO
  19. Nice-where was this held? Jim Rousseau's Framingham Maxim??
  20. As I see the situation, the fear is the Ranger T-6 is too close to f-150 size wise and would only canibalize 150 sales. As for the new GM "Canyorado", the ford party line appears to be those trucks are satisfying the pent up ,mid size demand and will eventually fall of in terms of numbers.
  21. Unishift control on dash says to me this was a pit truck for sure in its final years No need for split shifting!
  22. Nice-any clue what the body was for?
  23. Duh!! Must have been late when I wrote that dumb post-thx- I'm thinking doubles-yeah position dolly under kite, then back lead trailer up to dolly
  24. Hmnn-wonder how you hook the third and fourth trailers up? And these look like side dumps with right side a "clam" hinge?
