Terex scrapers were always considered kinda gutless compared to the cats. Everybody around here calls them Green Weenies

A little off of the conversation, but I was cleaning out some things at my grandparents house. Found an old auction flyer and thought the price of the b-model looked pretty good compared to today's prices! Sorry about the crummy quality. I think there were 5 b models sold. I found a picture of one of them all cleaned up for sale day too. Sorry about the one rotated, I couldn't figure which one was which on my cell phone. -

The 05 mack 6wheelers went for $79000! The trailers all went for big bucks! I thought everything went for about double what I would have thought. -

I had a MP7 395c, mDrive, 3.50 ratio truck speced as the go to "chicago" dump truck. They have the same truck on the lot with the 3.3? rear end available now and are saying it will be fine. I really don't have a clue about the mDrive. I just really like the idea of driving around and drinking coffee without having to shift! I have been looking for a couple of new or newer lightweight steel dump trailers, they seem impossible to find right now. Anyway, I am trying to avoid an 8 week delay for building, and want to be able to hit the ground running at the end of march. Looks like we will be having a very busy year around the Lake County area -

what do you guys think of your mDrives? What ratio are you running in your rear ends? I am looking at a few pinnacles, one has a 3.50 and the other is a 3.36 i think? Both drives, and I am thinking these trucks will be strictly dump work. Thoughts? -

Al, is that truck in the area still? I see a really sharp R model 6 wheeler every so often but I have never been close enough to read the name on the door. -
I have to admit, I have driven with the pto engaged and didn't notice for about 2 miles. I thought the 8ll was shifting funny, but it was early on a cold morning. After that, and seeing some of the pictures of dump trucks stuck under bridges, i always lance in the mirror and check the box when I approach a bridge. I also always check the pto lever when starting the truck, several time somebody has started the trucks to raise the box and drain water or snow and then just shut the truck off with the pto still engaged. The when you start the truck in the morning and go drink coffee, you come back out to the pto grinding. The peterbilts you can start from stanging next to them, and there isnt any indicator light for the pto...

Old school truck lettering

That truck looks awesome. I like the hand lettering, looks so much nicer than vinyl. It seems like a lot of guys around here still get their stuff hand lettered. -

that truck has the potential to be really pretty without too much work -
Thats pretty neat. I googled the kenosah adress on the flyer, it is only a few miles from me. Looks like there are houses there now. Would have been a good spot to go poke around while it is slow. Is KAT gone now?

Nice truck, it will look good with a little work. It is good to know there will be another working superliner out there!

some of the guys that are driving now could use that. some of these guys cant back at all. -
A $10,000 truck isn't a bad deal if it can be put to work without too much elbow grease. Cosmetic repairs can always wait. I think with mine, some of the stuff that has been the most frustrating is repairs that are due to age more than anything else. Replacing the tanks due to corrosion, cracked and dry rotted hoses.... But it all adds up. Pretty soon that $10k truck is a $30k truck. I looked up that yellow RW, sold at Ritchie bros dec. of 13 for $8,000
-
I paid $12,000 for mine, and it needed a lot of work. It was rust free, with good tires. And aluminium steers and tanks. It also had fresh paint. The frame on mine has a bit of spread. Mine is spec'd the same as the one you are looking at. I would think that one is in the $9k to $12k range depending on mechanical condition.... Just my two cents. And that yellow one on truckpaper is in the ritchie brothers sale history, it sold for a lot less than they asking.

Not an R model, but I thought this granite looked pretty tough from where I was standing. I tried to take video of him driving in a soft spot, but I was talking to myself as I did it, and sound like an idiot. So I don't think I will be posting that... -

Agreed, a lot of money for an older truck. The pictures I saw made it look pretty good. Is it for sale again? -
two years ago, somebody took the batteries out of the 977. While they were at it, they broke ino an f350 plow truck i had sitting there. They cut the cables, abd tried to pry out the batteries, only cracking them instead. But they took the triumph 500cc motor i had just had new bearings, jugs and a bunch of head work done. $3000 in the triumph motor, $200 in the truck batteries, $400 in the 977. I woukd have happily given them the $50 they got for scrapping it all. On a different note, autozone has a really good warranty on their top dollar batteries. I use them in my plow vehicles, and have had really good luck. And I like autozone rewards and other "lifetime warranty" items

I have had a Cat battery in a cat 242 that made it 9 years, 4000 hours in some pretty rough service. Then one day it just gave out completly. If you have been frustrated by the hasles and costs of short battery life, it is really nice when one lasts. Lately they seem to get stolen before they have a chance to go bad.

were there very many b busses made? there is one sitting a couple miles from my house. I was curious if they have much value. It is too far back to tell much about its condition, and the owners are some really odd folks.
