  1. Now that was a natural progression from the kind and helpful members here to the mean and hateful members in the chainsaw forum to the squirrel to the jarfly- y'all need to keep up, or you'll get left behind! 🤣
  2. You must be talking about Tim Maikshilo.
  3. There's a lot more books that could be added to this list now, these came out a couple of years ago.
  4. ...and he was another one that was a wealth of knowledge, he knew a lot about a lot of things and was quick to offer help to anyone and everyone.
  5. Nope. Kinda like before, he was the all time top poster for a while, a long time actually, then he just disappeared. Then all of a sudden he reappeared and was a regular for a while, then he just disappeared...
  6. I'm really good at that, I do it every day.
  7. wow, talk about gender confused- look at this idiot.
  8. This is a true story- that reminds me of the time we were fishing in the James River near Cartersville when I was just a kid, probably 6 or 8 years old. My older brother found one of these cicadas, or locusts, but we called it a jar fly, and said he should use it for bait. My grandfather said something like "that's ridiculous (but i'm sure that wasn't his exact words), ain't nothing gonna bite that thing". So my brother threw it in the river and the instant it hit the water a big fish jumped up and swallowed it. Probably a bass, but we'll never know. But that actually happened, just like that.
  9. I'll still post them, but they'll be fewer and far-er in between. I just don't get around like I used to. For example- I was just looking at memories on facebook- 3 years ago today, or this week anyway, I took a load of pipes to Midland, Pa. I parked at the firehouse the night before, like they told me. The next morning the guy took me to where I needed to be in a pickup truck, to show me how to get there. It wasn't even a half mile away, just go down this street, turn right on another street, then turn right on another street. The streets were all narrow, and each time I turned the street was always narrower than the street I turned off of. We went to the end of the last street, made another right, then left on the first street and back to the firehouse. When we got there I said "I can't do that". He said "how come?" I said "because I can't get under that 11' bridge right there". And he said "oh". Then he said there was another way to get over there, but it involved a long detour. So I said "I have an idea". And I got my tools and took the stacks off the truck so I could get under the bridge. I got unloaded and strapped the stacks down on the trailer, they could put them back on when I got to the shop. And I don't remember, but I probably posted pictures here of all this adventure. Now, today is something like this- get up, have a cup of coffee or two. Go dump the cat's litter boxes. We have two litter boxes, they both have cabs on them. There's all woods behind me, so I take them into the woods and take the cabs off. They don't tilt, you have to take them all the way off. Then you lift out the screen type liner and let the litter fall back into the box, and just dump the clumps. We use clumping litter, it's the cat's ass. I dump them in a brush pile, so dogs aren't tempted to try to sniff out a clue. Then I put the screen part into the empty box part, dump the litter back in, put the other box part under the filled one, put the cab back on, bring them back in. Totally uninteresting, not really worth taking a picture of. This was in my memories too, from the Turkey Rod Run in 2020. Seemed pretty interesting to me, just a good example of how some like it hot and some do not. Or maybe "when you're hot you're hot, when you're not you're not".
  10. We're hoping to be there, we always look forward to Macungie!
  11. No, it's still a pain in the ass sometimes, other times it just goes on and locks with no issues! One thing I have learned though, that if you over fill it it's a lot harder to get on. And I have a tendency to fill the lawn mower, leaf blower, saw, any small engines until they run over. When I bought that saw the guy at the store always fills everything up with gas, and tells you not to use ethanol gas in it, and even he had a hard time getting the gas cap back on.
  12. That reminds me of the time I joined a Stihl chain saw group on Facebook. I had always had Homelite chainsaws before, had a couple of XL-12s, a 923, and a 925, but I lost them all when my shed burned up a few years ago on Thanksgiving day when I was smoking a turkey. Anyhow, when I needed a chain saw I bought a Stihl, I don't think they even make Homelites anymore. So I joined this Stihl group and it didn't take long to see that their standard answer to all questions was "it's because you're stupid and don't know what you're doing". I never asked any questions, but I did reply to a comment one time, agreeing that the filler caps for the gas tank and chain bar oil were a major PITA to get closed sometimes. I was immediately told it was because I was stupid and didn't know what I was doing.🤣
  13. If I get a new welder I want one like this.
  14. Very well said! It is very good that there's a place to vent, or tell a joke, or talk politics, post a non truck related picture- it says it all right there in the description for "Odds and Ends". But one thing is certain, you can never please all the people all the time. I used to post "Pictures or the Week" every week when I was driving, pictures of where i'd been, what I hauled, random road shots that I thought were interesting, and of course if I was lucky enough to find myself beside an attractive female type person at a stop light, the "a girl in a car" pictures. And most people seemed to like it, but some people complained if they weren't truck related, so I made sure to include a truck somewhere- even though I thought they were truck related anyway, because I was sitting in a truck when I took them. And some, especially those from other countries, liked the "road shot" pictures. So I kept on posting them. Nobody, no two people, will agree on everything all the time, but you get along, right? And for the most part everybody here seems to get along quite well, even with some difference of opinions. One thing former moderator- or modulator as we used to say- Rob used to say was that the one thing he absolutely would not tolerate was personal attacks on another member, that was a very good rule.
  15. Not the first fashion statement I've seen being made there, this was a couple of years ago.
  16. Well, I don't know about that. I had pictures on Flickr for a long time, it used to be free to put pictures there. I also used Photobucket, and some other free picture site to store pictures, but I can't remember what it was. Then a few years ago Flickr said it would no longer be free to post pictures. Maybe you could post a few for free, I don't remember that either, but I was already way past the limit for free if it was. So either I would lose all the pictures I had already stored there, or I could pay the ransom and keep on using Flickr, so that's what I did. I have to pay a yearly fee, I think it's about $40. So that's why I use Flickr all the time now, and post pictures there willy-nilly. Oh, webshots was the other site I used. I don't know if that's even in existence anymore, pretty sure all those pictures are gone, but they're probably still on the PC.
