  1. you're right!!! he spelled border wrong! I'm calling the spelling police! Calling Olivetroad, you're- wait a minute...never mind...head in hands...
  2. Earl Pitts! Actually Gary Burbank from WLW in Cincinnati- one of my favorites, he's retired now.
  3. That's how I could find my truck with the VT903 in the parking lot, just looked for the smoke. Sometimes it would blow smoke rings.
  4. They were a very handy little tool, most of those throttle cables that you pulled out and twisted the knob to lock it in place broke in no time anyway. I used to use a stick- cut a notch in one end with my pocket knife to put under the dash, just kicked the other end further up on the pedal if I needed to speed things up.
  5. E9V8 is right- you put the hook at the top under your dash and the other end on the accelerator pedal to idle your truck up to whatever rpm's you want. That hooked part slides up and down the shaft to adjust the length. You might need one to keep warm in the sleeper on those cold sunny south Florida nights.
  6. Most of you probably know. I haven't seen one for years, used to have one myself. I didn't know you could even get them anymore, but they had plenty of them at Truck World in Hubbard, Ohio for either 99 cents or $1.99 each- so I bought 3, for no good reason except to have them.
  7. I'm just gonna slither on off to Avella, Pa. Might even park on the ramp at exit 7.
  8. Great pictures. I've seen that orange and yeller cabover Pete before, either on rt. 22 or rt. 30 east of Pittsburgh. Got a picture of it at a stoplight.
  9. I see he has an 830 John Deere too- nice looking tractor! Back when they used to have the Stonewall Antique Power Show in Stonewall, Va. they had an antique tractor pull on Sunday afternoon. Tractors had to be 1959 or older I think, no super hot rod types, but they could be modified some. A Super M and an 830 both made a full pull in the heaviest class. Added more weight to the sled, both made another full pull. Added all the weight they had, and both made a full pull. Ended up with about 7 or 8 guys getting into the box on the sled for more weight, and that 830 finally won it. Best tractor pull I ever watched. Funniest thing about it was when the sled came unhooked from the 830 and the man driving it kept on down the track, never looking back. People were hollering and waving, he was waving back, probably thinking "the ol' JD is really gittin' 'er done today!" That thing was so strong the tone of the engine hardly changed anyway, and he was almost to the end when he finally looked back and saw the sled still sitting about 10 feet from the starting line.
  10. yeah- I was a little over the top. From now on i'll save that kind of thing for the usual suspects- rowdy,randy,rob,..and 1958 fwd. No, wait- this is the new "no b.s. other dog". Ain't sayin' nuthin' to nobody.
  11. ...and the project supervisor, with the blue hard hat, stands on the back of the trailer to instruct the workers in proper loading and tie down procedures.
  12. I was on the ramp all night- right behind a Cassidy's truck out of Pembroke, Ontario.
  13. I've heard of that, though i've never actually experienced it firsthand.
  14. D'oh!!! I have a can of it in the truck...it's actually pretty good though- could I get a discount on a few more cans, for keeping this a secret?
  15. wtf?..huh- what are you talkin' 'bout?..safety...emissions...jewel- now that's a stretch-oh yes, indeed, I have my anti-b.s. force field around me now at full power.
  16. You should still send them to me, for having to put up with her...oh, that's what she said about me too...never mind.
  17. yes!!! I'm coming clean...no more b.s. out of me- never again. Just gets you in trouble. Yes Mr. Rebel, it is indeed a Kentworth. Nuthin' like the last Kenworth I drove, the W900L with the N-14 525 Cummins, 13 spd, 3.70 rears-now that was a truck!Unlike the p.o.s. I drive now, with the school bus motor, 10 spd, and 3.36 rears. This is the "new" other dog. My motto-"no more b.s, ever!"
  18. Well,..I, uh...greatly exaggerated the getting thrown all about and bouncing off the walls part- it was just a little bump really.
  19. crack on the inside
  20. oh...thank you.
  21. It could be a U-model...but I think it's a DM.
  22. Does anyone remember a B-model for sale in Gladys, Va. a while back? I think somebody found it on e-bay or Craigslist and mentioned it here, saying it was in my back yard. I offered to go look at it if anyone wanted me too. Reason I was wondering is because Ed stopped by this morning- no, no,not that Ed. This was the Ed that drops off them "Awake" magazines. Real nice guy, I actually enjoy talking to him. I guess most people hide when they see him coming- like Jo does when i'm not here. Anyway, he asked me if I knew where he could find a B-model tractor, just to have one because he likes them. Pretty cool, I thought. He told me about the "one that got away"- a B-model in Gladys that had been sitting in a barn for years that somebody bought for $800. I'd probably have bought it myself, sight unseen, for $800. So, I wondered if it might have been the same one that was mentioned here before. I've tried searching "b-model in Gladys" but found nothing.
  23. Oh yeah, he was real nice about it. You could tell he was very upset with himself for backing into me. No problem getting his name, company, truck and trailer license numbers, insurance info, etc. But, since he was from Pembroke, Ontario and the damage was very minor, I doubt they'll even bother to pursue it further.
  24. You never know, maybe they're for sale. I don't know the story behind any of this equipment, who owns it, or anything else. Same as that first Payhauler I looked at, it's just sitting there in a big lot, abandoned looking. I do remember when they made rt. 19 into a 4 lane, it was a big project, especially on Powell Mtn, and it was probably last used on that road building job. They might know something at that truckstop. When I stopped I parked at the truckstop and just walked over and looked at everything and took pictures, nobody came over and asked what I was doing, or told me to get the hell out of there, or paid any attention to me at all, and I could have been an old equipment spy.
  25. Good story there. I used to go through Wooster all the time when I had a pretty regular run up to Fremont, Ohio.
