Well, I sold the GMC today. I didn't get what I would have liked, but it was about what I could reasonably expect to get for it. And the buyer had cash in hand, so there's that. We're heading out of Appomattox headed east on 460 to Rice, VA. We were getting the Zinamobile ready for the Christmas Parade when the guy stopped by. After we delivered the GMC we rushed home to get the Zinamobile and go to Pamplin for the parade. We got to Pamplin and slapped some decorations on it but it was really cold, about 35 degrees, and we had no working heater. And a park light was out. I just had both park lights working, with new bulbs, but I had park light failure today. And because we had delivered the GMC to Rice, got home at 4, and we're supposed to be in Pamplin at 4:00, I didn't have time to look into the situation. But I hate having a light out! Anyway, here's the Zinamobile with a few decorations on it. VID_20251206_181212.mp4

I thought I recognized that boobage on the poster!

Happy another orbit around the sun day!

And the most astonishing about it to me is how close it was. I mean she came right out and said how she hates Nashville and she hates country music, I would guess she also hates Tennessee, the US, and puppies. She just hates everybody and everything and people still voted for her- I just don't get it.

That's right, the democrats get more bent out of shape about the US blowing up a venezuelan boat loaded with drugs than they do about national guardsmen and US citizens getting attacked on the street.

Happy birthday!

I did one once, but I'm no expert. However, I do have a friend who's an expert in the field of prime rib, let me give him a call-

Might as well post the conclusion to the story about the aggravatingest turkey ever, that just refused to cook. I put the turkey in the oven yesterday, set at 200 degrees. When Zina got home from doing some volunteer work she asked how it was going. I said "it's probably done by now". But when I checked it, it was barely warm. So I turned the temp. up just a little, to 250. Checked it after an hour and it was barely warm. So I turned the temperature up to 350. After about an hour the turkey was still only up to 140, less than what I had it to on the smoker. So, I was going to turn the oven temperature up to 400 and then turn it off and leave it closed. We were getting kind of hungry by now, it was well into the afternoon. So Zina said "will it fit in the crockpot?" I said "of course it will, I'll make it fit". So I was getting the crockpot, and the top fell off and shattered in the kitchen floor. I was ready to just throw the turkey out into the yard at this point, and the crockpot into the trash can. But I restrained my first impulses and turned the stove off and crammed the turkey into the crockpot. Then I used aluminum foil for a cover and put the lid off a roasting pan over the foil, and turned it on "High". Then we made a Vicki drink and went to my son and daughter in law's mother's house in Pamplin. When we got back home the little plastic pop-up timer had popped up, so it was done-done. I had one of the leg quarters last night, and it was actually surprisingly good, moist, tender, and delicious, with crispy skin too- just how I like it. Now I already pulled all the meat off this morning while Zina was out- doing volunteer work- and put it in Tupperware containers and have the bones simmering now to make turkey stock. So everything worked out in the end, and she already ordered a new crockpot.

I've been seeing lots of pictures and videos of spatchcocked turkeys lately, and they looked really good after they were smoked. They looked like this at first- I've never done one but i've been wanting to try it. So I did yesterday, but much like the pictures of the hamburgers in the window at the Tastee-Freez, mine looked nothing like the pictures I saw. Mine looked like a disaster. So I just cut the leg quarters off and cooked it on the offset smoker kinda like a big chicken. It never did get done, I couldn't get the temp. up on the smoker. I blame it on the wind, it was very windy . I should have either put it on the Pit Barrel or grilled it like chicken. I guess. Anyhow, I pulled it off at 150 degrees and I haven't decided yet whether to put it in the oven today or put it on the grill until it's done, and hope it's not dry as a chip. I think I'll put it in the oven at about 200 degrees.

Got a picture in the mail today, the official photo from the Trucker's Parade Against Cancer. The Mack doesn't look half bad there. We didn't have our banner on it when they took the picture because we wern't sure we'd even be there, so they put it on a fire truck. We were supposed to go to Raphine that day and pick the yellow '55 Ford up, but the man bringing it broke down in Jackson, Ohio so he turned around and went back to Indiana. My wife informed me that we had an official picture from last year, but I don't recall ever seeing it before.

Fords are weird. The '71 F100 I had had a 351 in it, not original, but it was smaller looking than this 351M, it looked the same as a 289 or 302. So you've got a 351 Cleveland, 351 Windsor, 351M, and some trucks had a 352, and they've got the 428 and 429 engines which were different animals too...I guess. I always thought the Cleveland was the one to have if you wanted to go fast. But when I was coming up most everybody was racing either GMs or Mopars, very few fast Fords around on the street.

I've had '69, '71, '87, and 2002 Ford pickups, and a '76 and '91 Dodge. They were all pretty good trucks except the 91 Dodge. The 69 was a good one and the 2002 Ranger was one of the best vehicles I ever had. That's one I should have kept, but I traded it when I bought my Impala. My dad always had Chevrolet or GMC pickups until the last one he had, a Dodge Dakota.

I thought we'd take a ride around the block this evening, but the DMV in Appomattox is closed on Wednesday apparently. I knew the dump was, but not the DMV. No way we're going to the one in Lynchburg, that would be an all day thing and being an arrogant a$$hole is a requirement to work there.

Thank you, I'm going to do that right now. I'm on a Ford site now that I joined when I had the '87, but I don't remember the name of it. Haven't been on it in years.

Maybe that is for a year then. I told the insurance man to insure it for $30,000. I said 25 at first and he sent me this- So I said let's put 30 on it then. I don't know that the truck is worth that much since it's not original, but I'm happy with that insurance price anyway.
