  1. Sometimes the rad tank cap can cause issues! the top rad tank had issues at one point Depends on the year of the truck! Most common instance of this is caused by egr cooler failure less common is injector cup failure sometimes accompanied by hard starting! sometimes the rad cap can cause issues More comments will likely follow!
  2. Yup ALL these New trucks Mack Or Any other make are designed to keep you coming back in one way or the other! and after 5 years they are a crap shoot to own!
  3. I am not against it Its your own business How ever It makes for a bigger problem down the road when it comes to repair because what and who can you can on to repair it If something goes sideways!
  4. yup First thing to look for if your running Mack rears! my belief is if you got to run miss match tires ( Don't recommend it how ever ) Run em kitty corner that spreads Some of the wear thru out the diffs and power divider! Just an opinion
  5. as stated Tire size plays a huge part!
  6. to confirm this theory if there is a power dIvider lock use it! If the noise goes away you nailed the problem!
  7. I have zero experience swapping these that said! I do know how Mack made lots of subtle changes to things over the years it was a continus process althou physically this engine has evolved with the same look since even the gas block It even looked similar Lots of changes some big some small! so what is being said here by the boys you need to follow their lead
  8. There"s a roving guy in this area the spray welds trailer king pins and you can't even tell after its done even thou you are not allowed to weld on hitches ! So That said if you don't know about it when your looking at it then your likley not going to worry about it! If that axle stub was on a pilot hub wheel and the seal was dri you would have been none the wiser! you would have slammed the brakes on there and a new drum and all done just like normal ! Now that said if that vehicle comes back in a week from now with a wheel seal leak there is a problem! Just sayin!
  9. Yup guess he can't really hand his gun to anyone ! Here hold my gun while I inspect your truck! 🤣 Our guys here can go under your truck but have NO CLUE what they are looking at! gun or no gun Absolutely useless! Wouldn't be so bad if they would offer up and identify safety concerns but they just focus on stupid shit crack in a lens or dirt on a license or plate lights !
  10. Good call buddy I hate those dam things they can warp and take the seal out as well! we used to be able to get a double lip seal they were awsome But if you used one you need to delete that dust shield dodad or it Would take the seal out !!
  11. Just a few thoughts ! Exhaust leak at turbo flange gasket or exhaust gaskets ! Boost leaks Check the charge air hoses including to compressor!
  12. yup! totally agree check the hose at the compressor very common leak there! also have seen these bypass dodads stick! Always by passing the charge air will cause high heat and low power! Most of the engines in our area here we disabled this unit it causes more trouble than its worth!
  13. We sold a half dozen in early 2007 the cross over year 2006-2007 from gray to red ! basically trouble free units as stated a cup job or two one head gasket incident recently not a bad run really! Agree don't mess with success!
  14. Yup these even had the centramax filter !These guys tossed out all the Mack Ideas! Not complicated enough for them guess ! next year tossed it! I wouldn't mess with it my self! what do you cherry pick ? The rockers change up we accidentally put the wrong rockers in one!( Parts dept Feasco) that killed the power took us months to find what had happened! (you have a Very rare truck there It will be a collectors item 30 years from now!) 😅 So many little changes that may or may not benefit what your trying to accomplish! I disagree 🙃!The bastard trucks are the ones they build today! This one was half ass bastardized !The assimilation started at the frame! That went first! Then the engine, now its the trans, diffs are yet to be burred they are working at it!
  15. check the above first easy stuff! keep us posted! Yup I edited my reaction I noticed the mechanical after the fact ! My bad!
  16. 350 mechanical! ! first check to see if the fuel shut off is going full off then check the the throttle lever for full stroke ! All Good? yes !? then Remove the 3/8 plastic line to the top of the fuel pump if u suck on that hose and it won't hold a vacuum the diaphragm in that unit is holed needs replacing! just three quick checks to start with!
  17. yup
  18. They run hot! If you replace this with a constant duty cole hersey It will work with a few mods! If your lucky enough to get a hold of the old silver bullet relay you'll be laughing PAI may still carry it! don't accept the plastic bacolite one if they offer it to you absolute junk!
  19. Also the wire harness is totally different better off with a donnor truck for a project like this also I don't see the advantage of changing to Vmac 2 the vmac1 is a good setup the modules can go bad on Vmac 2 as well . Seen it happen !
  20. Its really to bad Theses Volvo turds didn't take some of the good Mack Ideas and put them to use! That said they did use a tapper on the Volvo and I don't have much bad to say over this axle It is about the only thing on the truck that is worthy of having a Mack Stamp On it!
  21. Long as you can get a clear swing with a sledge on these your laughfin remove the spider if you have to! Love doing these pins so easy once the bottom nut is out that's the only not nice part of the job!
  22. second that!😡
  23. Does the dash show any malfunction lights? Is the truck auto or manual trans? NO ? then The V.E.B.C is the engine brake valve under the valve cover these have been known to have issues at times! We have had them failed right out of the box! could also be the switch on the dash or the clutch switch if equipped !
  24. I beleive there are minor changes to each progressivly fueling turbo ect Not a guru on this subject! an example A v8 865 was a 325 maxidine 866 went to 375 with out the maxidyne function ! I think the engine you have there is a 237 if it had a 6 sp trans behind it it would have been a Maxidyne and with out it would have been a 235! again not a GURU!
  25. sweet install 237 ?the 285 350 type stuff will bolt on there for sure log as you got a doner vehicle! you run the risk of breaking the block if you try to take more than 350 out of it! In my mind your better off with a 285 maxidine set up for a tractor just me! the governor set up is more freindly for that kind of work! note to that when the hp increased on this block they added stifening webs between the main caps!
