  1. Give it 'nother week and I'll be there for a couple days for a race.
  2. I can't use IE anymore for this site. Just screws up and won't let me attach anything. I use Chrome at work without issue and starting using it home too.
  3. Welcome aboard. Yup, unless it hides its age well, I think you got a pretty decent start. The metal look straight and the windows haven't been shot out yet. Type up the "how you got it" story. We all like those.
  4. I replaced the relief valve on the tank(first thing I thought of), didn't realize there is one on the compressor itself? Strangely it never does it just idling at full charge. Only when on the road.
  5. I'm coming to PA, but only to Pittsburgh that weekend. That's 3.5 hrs. I have a two day event, it is their big "nostalgia nationals" and my stick group has a points race with it. The track is just minutes from Watts Mack.
  6. Love to make it over. If I could handle a 7+ hr drive in the ol dog.
  7. Scenic cruiser project? Was at local junk yard the other weekend. Haven't been there in 25 yrs? It is all cleaned an organized now where back in the 80's it was a total disaster and cars stacked 3 tall. In the front corner, nearly covered in bushes was a well used up, parted out Scenic cruiser. Broke my heart. Got a pic on my phone, need to get it downloaded to post it here.
  8. We have our Wellington show, always a good time. Has everything covered and our NEO chaper of ATHS is a big part of it. I'm usually out of town racing, so haven't made it in a few years. It's been a rough summer, I haven't made anything for shows. NO demo derbys, no truck pulls, nadda.
  9. I have replaced the valves(actually made it one instead of two), but think the noise came before that? I've got the manual for the suspension but never read the fine print, only to get part numbers for it. I never would have thought they would denote a regulator? The bags only see enough air to support the truck, so I doubt mine would ever see over 100# anyway. I'll play with it and see what it sounds like. Or maybe I'll tell the g/f she has to ride on the back frame rails the next trip out LOL!!! There is a grate back there I can strap a chair to
  10. Nice work so far. Good lord at least you didn't do an LS swap!!!! Geezus that would make ol Henry roll! Heck an ol roller cam 302 and T5 would make that thing scoot and be very light weight on the nose compared to that locomotive sized Lima!! LOL!! I looked at a '51 back in the very early 80's. I wanted it BAD!!! It was all stock, all original and came from the south so it was rust free. I just got my license and had no money so it was a moot point.
  11. I know these tanks don't have spitters. Or it would do it just idling. Could be hour, could be a few minutes apart. More prominent in town then on the highway. That would lead me to believe it is the bags purging off. Just sounds so drastic, like a dryer and not like I would think the levelers dropping off air. I don't think any truck would run at 100# psi. Mine only runs 130# now due to new govenor. The old one ran 110-120, this one is set a touch higher.
  12. I've had that thought myself. Just the sound doesn't really sound like coming from behind. Kinda more from passenger side, front. sorta. Hard to discern when it happens so fast and only lasts a second. It doesn't always happen on bumpy or smooth road, no real rhyme or reason. Just not when parked.........which would lead me to being the suspension. I can hit the dump button, but it really doesn't happen the same way.
  13. So Me TV had CHiPs on last night, first night for their new evening line up. Chips is on at 6pm. Anyhoo, I don't think it is actually the first show, like it would have been back when, though Ponch was on probation? Well, the show was about a high end car theft ring. Seems they would steal 6 cars and get away. The open chase scene ends with the guys in a single axle F model pulling a moving van(that was converted to car hauler). Of course the sound track was a Detroit powered truck, but not sure if true or not? In the end, they dump the trailer and get chased by Ponch and John through the streets of LA. Imagine an F model out running a pair of motorcycles? Well, kinda far fenched LOL!!! They end up directing the truck right into LA County jail parking lot.
  14. Been going on for a couple years now. Just randomly hear a "pffst" sound while going down the road. Never any reason, don't see any fluctuation in air gauge. Doesn't seem to be during/after compressor kicks on/off because the gauge will be already at 130# and holding. Won't do it just sitting still in the driveway(wouldn't that be an easy way to find it?). I replaced my relief valve on the tanks a couple years back thinking that might be it. Have a new regulator on the compressor, so that ain't it. Girlfriend even gives me a look every time it goes happens. Can't really place where it is coming from, it is just "there". The only thing I can say is that it only came about after putting the air ride on(stretch job).
  15. Looks and sound good. Did I hear "FULL PULL"?
  16. I'm thinking I have video of that AC at Syracuse '03 when it pulled in to park. I'm thinking that tunnel wrecker has NO driveshaft. The transmission is hooked directly to the rearend LOL!
  17. Just EDIT your first post and put SOLD in the title box.
  18. How's that saying go......"neccesity is the mother of invention"? That's one ugly mother!!!
  19. Mark, yes, the Chillicothe plant. That was a very cool tour.
  20. ^^^ exactly!! Imagine, no radio, no a/c, no GPS, no 84" condo on the back?? What would you do??
  21. Usually it entails removal of the body as the first line in the instructions!
  22. It's about 1/2 the rated HP of the American versions. Guess they go by the old slogan "slow and steady"?
  23. How about what Dan was looking for the other week. The box across the back that the pipes just sit on? Jim's right. I do like the stock, classic, single pipe look. Then again I do like duals. Guess I need two trucks to cover the bases?
  24. Neat truck! Love the stainless box. Takes some finesse to get the hand throttle adjusted just right. Have to slide the little pin up a bit farther. When I fixed mine I had the same problem. Just moved it a bit more and now I can get wide open throttle! Here is mine, you can see the brass pin on the cable sticking through the hole on the throttle linkage: Mine has no turbo, so you can see it from the top. Most guys use Photobucket to post pictures here. You can save them to your gallery also.
  25. Wow...now that is an adventure!! Thanks for sharing it. To go to those lengths for an old Mack is quite extreme.
