  1. I had a crush on Marie Osmond when I was younger. i think i was 47 or 48 at the time.
  2. You brought up some very good points on why your truck should be allowed to stay on, but using logic on management types is rarely successful. Best of Luck. I believe that to be true. Look at Prime Inc (Please Remember I Mortgaged Everything). They have mileage limits on their lease trucks which force you to get into a new lease as soon as or not long after completing your current lease. Most of the large carriers have age limits with no regard to mileage or condition of the tractor.
  3. Looking to waste some time while filling your brain with useless info? I know that sounds like multi-tasking but it's believe me, it's worth it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chef_Boyardee http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ettore_Boiardi
  4. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I guess that would make me a dumber-ass.
  5. Yeah it appears to be (sorry, I took these a few years ago and some of the details have been forgotten.) The only clue I have on the year is the turn signals next to the headlights. I think those were only used in the first few years, maybe until '66?
  6. I hit the pic limit on the above post, so here's the lineup shots.
  7. I had passed this place on US 6 in Youngsville, PA a few times but either the weather was bad or I didn't have time to stop. Finally one day, the moon was in the seventh house and Jupiter aligned with Mars so I pulled into the lot, grabbed my camera, and went for a walk. The trucks are owned by a company named Wiilliams Lumber. There was a guy there working in a shop that said it was okay to walk around, but didn't have much info to offer. From a tag on the door, I learned this DR was a 1970 with a 335 Cummins. This Mack had a DM600 badge on the cowl, but a U609 tag on the driver's door. The first time I'd seen a Unishift lever. The rest of the story...
  8. Where I come from, a chip truck looks like this.
  9. I apologize for bringing down the mood of an otherwise lighthearted section of the forum, but I saw the aftermath of this wreck up close last night and cannot stand to see an innocent life cut short as a result of someone elses bad judgement. In the second photo you can see the back of the "Welcome to Pennsylvania" sign which is where I was parked from roughly 0230-0300. We knew there was a fatality but thought it was in the pickup. The deployed side airbags looked like a sheet covering a victim. Rest in Peace, Sergeant Todd. http://www.wpxi.com/...nongalia/nJHF2/
  10. Ahh yes it was. Thanks for the refresher. Any suggestions on how to get that "GM mark of Excellence" jingle out of my head?
  11. A unique man to say the least. Then again, his cb handle since the early 1960's was "Boll Weevil".
  12. I need to bring you with me next time I go car shopping. I probably still would've bought the stupid thing after that conversation. I haven't heard GM use the "Mark Of Excellence" slogan in awhile. Maybe they set the bar too high. Good thing Ford had "A Better Idea"
  13. I'll do what I can. I won't dare go on the property when they're closed which leaves Mondays as my best option. Can't do this Monday though.
  14. As decision you may come to regret. http://www.art.com/p...ive-measure.htm
  15. Sounds like an excerpt from a romance novel. Very beautifully written.
  16. When we first moved to PA we felt obligated to try them since they were apparently a major part of the local culture. I like maybe 1 or 2 as a side dish but not as an entree. I used to eat them as a full meal, but I eventually began pouring tomato sauce on them. I finally convinced myself to stop living a lie and went out and bought some ravioli.
  17. I still remember feeling that my insides were "vibrating" for a few minutes after getting out of the truck. I had rode shotgun in several cabovers by this time and I don't remember this one being any worse than the others, including a KW with torsion bar. I'd say they all sucked equally. Of course what I thought was normal back then would probably kill me today.
  18. You were about 5 miles from me. There are 3 Brockways in a yard on rt 837 along the river that Ive been meaning to get pictures of. It's about halfway between Monongahela and Donora. I'm pretty sure they're all dumps-I've never seen the red one you found.
  19. Your not alone. I'm that way after sex also, but I don't cry as much as I used to.
  20. My Dad drove many a truck, but owned only one. In late 1977 with no business plan and a few thousand dollars, he bought a 1970 Diamond Reo cabover and was now an owner/operator. He did this for a few years and was actually successful. He just got tired of the extra work involved in running your own truck and was looking for a little less stress as he entered his 60's. It had a 318 Detroit, RTO-913 trans, and 4.44 rears on Hendrickson "walking beam" suspension. Folks from the NYC metro area might recognize the trailer in this next pic. It was owned by Pinter Brothers Trucking from Deer Park,NY. They had recently gone out of busniess and were renting out their equipment. My Dad used their trailers before eventually buying himself a '69 Great Dane 40 x 12'6 reefer.
  21. Well that bites. If this were a contest with a million dollar prize, I betcha he wouldn't have even come close with that cable.
  22. Is that pronounced "Pee ORjeez"? That reminds of this one time.......
