  1. For making your fellow BMT members throw-up in their respective mouths? I don't think so.
  2. Apparently I've searched for this truck in the past, not my pic however: http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/217-caddilac-mack/
  3. That sounds like "Cadillac Mack". I've seen him on the OH turnpike and I'm pretty sure the truck has been discussed on here.
  4. I found Hatcity's picture but couldn't get it to show. I'll give you a clue-I think the contest is over......
  5. I like the GM's from the 50's and 60's, but they're not as indestructible as everyone thinks. Have you seen this video? I could probably come up with several uglies, but I'll start with anything from 1974 when manufacturers had to tack on those 5 mph bumpers to existing models. Much worse than the front bumpers in '73.
  6. Here's another nice Mack I came across a few years ago. I had forgotten about these pics until this past week when I saw this truck bobtailing south on I-79 in WV. The Owner/Operator rebuilt this truck himself and said he was surprised at how many people appreciated seeing in old R model in such nice shape. IIRC, I was in a bit of a hurry so I just grabbed a few exterior shots while he sat in the truck. The interior was grey but the dashboard had the woodgrain finish like the tan interiors had. It was a sharp combo.
  7. I've seen that one. OH 7 between Marietta and Bridgeport is one of my favorite stretches of road. Sometimes the river is so calm it has a mirror finish to it.
  8. I still had the Bing page open (along with a dozen others, I'm a multi-tasker) and found the terminal, along the railroad tracks. It's a match with the building in the third pic down and looks currently unused, but very much intact.
  9. Holy Crap! Maybe truck buyers are starting to realize what we already knew. I have to say, I work with some "Vision Haters" that are loving the Pinnacles.
  10. I'm not a violent person but there would absolutely be some sort of retaliation if I were in that situation. You did right by keeping your cool. It's good to here that the truck is in the hands of a caring owner so close to home.
  11. Glad you were able to come up with more pics and info. I went on Bing Maps and was checking out the area east of Kelly and Archwood. I had been down Kelly, but wasn't aware of that industrial area on Archway. There's some sort of equipment company on the north side of Archway that appears to be a former LTL terminal.
  12. Same here. I can appreciate someone wanting to stand out from the crowd and admire the amount of blood, sweat, tears (and money) that goes into some of the more extreme customizations, even if I think the final product is a bit much.
  13. This visor isn't nearly as extreme as some that I've seen which block out 75% of the windshield, I just prefer something smaller. The R models i drove had those visors that might be aftermarket, but look stock. They stick straight out and would block quite a bit of sun without sacrificing visibilty.
  14. Great info, I had forgotten about the hood scoops. I was 11 in '73 and thought the scoop was on the hood only because it looked cool, not that there's anything wrong with that.
  15. I prefer the stock look for the most part. The stacks are..eh..but the visor would be gone before the fuel cutoff had a chance to shut the engine down. I like the hubcaps.
  16. I was making a delivery a few years ago in Washington, DC and had to wait in the street for another truck to leave the yard before I could pull in (stay with me, it gets better). Across the street, there was a concrete plant with a line of dumptrucks waiting to get in.There were a lot of sharp trucks, but the kinds you see everyday. Then all of a sudden, there was a bright flash of light from which a line of dancing virgins emerged. Then I woke up and looked to my left and saw this......
  17. That would explain why you called me Green Dish, which happens to be my wife's name.
  18. I've only 1 R model with the air ride cab and was very disappointed with the ride the first time I drove it and sure enough, it had bad shocks. I have to agree, they made a huge difference. I never would have thought you could get such a smooth ride out of an R, let alone a single axle daycab with a spring suspension. BTW Randy, Thanks for the mudflap chick. She gives my posts a touch of class-something that I couldn't provide.
  19. The seats in the newest ones are much better. They look the same but work better, you can put in the proper amount of air for the suspension to function without sacrificing headroom.
  20. Somehow I expect more from a manufacturer today. Years ago many trucks had there unusual little quirks but this cab was clearly built to be on a pickup chassis. Even the parking brake knob appears to be an afterthought as far as location. Yep I've seen those. There's another company named Forman out of Maryland that seems to be keeping the look alive.
  21. My bad. I should've considered that since I do the same thing. Remember, times heals all wounds.
  22. They're not very popular with the drivers. The cabs are much smaller than the Freightliners they replaced and the air seats in the earlier ones were useless. You couldn't air them up without risking having your neck jammed if you hit a moderate bump in the road.
  23. I'm somewhere between age 11 and the age when you learn not to put gravel in your eyes. I call it my "awkward stage".
  24. Inspired by the much appreciated success of my Macks that I've driven thread, I decided to start a new topic featuring trucks from my current job. This thread, like most sequels, will pale in comparison to the original and leave the writer wondering why he didn't leave well enough alone. In Sept '08, I left Shuster's to take a job as a city driver at Pitt Ohio Express and after 3 years of p&d moved into my current position as a nighttime linehaul driver. As a new driver, I bounced around quite a bit from truck to truck, but only managed to grab a few shots so here goes... 356 & 375 were 2 of 4 Single axle CH's at our terminal. These were all retired with the purchase of 120 new Pinnacles in 2011. I'm gonna miss the look of the basic fleet truck with black Dayton rims. I found this framed picture behind the seat of a truck that was about to be retired. I bought a new frame but kept the old glass because it and the picture have become inseperable. This is a promo shot of an early CH. When the Vision was introduced there were many problems which I understand led to the decision to buy Sterlings. Visons were still being bought throughout the Sterling era, but in much smaller quantities. Here's a shot of me on I-79 waiting for help. In this case, it was a radiator hose which could happen to any truck . With the discontinuation of the Sterling brand in 2009, the company tried out various brands and Mack won out. Here's an '08 Pinnacle about to set out on it's maiden voyage. Disclaimer: The following photos are of a non-Mack product that is used as a daily driver by the author. Here's what I drive while I pass the time waiting for a Pinnacle to be tossed my way: 2006 Steriling AT9513. MBE 4000, 10 speed Roadranger.
  25. Great old pics. Do you know where in Akron the terminal was? I used to deliver doors to quite a few businesses there and was wondering If I'd been past it.
