How big would the transmission be, and the axles?  I bet you would lose 3000 lb's of freight weight to be legal here in the U.S.  just tossin my silly thoughts out there...

Probably need a weight permit just for the truck 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣

Thats amazing.  When I pulled MDrives out, i could pick them up and put them on a pallet for core returns.. how could a trans that light be strong enough to handle huge torque and truck trains as described?  Must be a great engineering accomplishment...  I havent a clue, just sayin..

From what I understand, a E7 with stage 2 or 2.5 injectors, the low compression 240GC2248 15:3.1 pistons, 454GC5142 camshaft and s475 171702 Borg Warner turbo from a 60 series Detroit. Also, the heads Pyromet valves and seats.

Thats the recipe a friend of mine used and it runs really well, but its only got about a year of running on it so time will tell how well it holds up. I have not personally tried this, but im in the process of building a E7 Vmac with these specs.

I have put aside 15k for this build. Was thinking about even doing ceramic coated pistons. I want it to live at least 500k with good power. I'll stud the heads if I think it's needed. Inconle valves ect. Im pretty serious

About time we get some guys posting about building some hp not just pump timing. Im very interested in any projects like this. Ive read a couple post about guys using turbo off series 60. Im not trying to build 700hp +++ if I was convinced it would live i would tho lol.

Im really interested in usable hp. Not a grenade I think 500hp 1800tq is within reason for a E7.

Ill say one thing,  the fact that mack used fire rings the way they did and nobody else really did it the way Mack did, I've always liked Mack for that. Definitely takes some of the worry out of head gaskets....as long as liner protrusion and deck and head flatness is near perfect.

Rochester Diesel Definitely knows how to build a good flowing P7100, so pump, injectors and turbo will be the easy part. Timing you'll have to play with to get it right in my opinion since you're going full mechanical. Also, a nice full-tilt exhaust manifold is a nice addition to a project like this.

Hello all, joining the conversation late , yet I would love to chime in.

Brett3876  I believe was using a mechanical e7 with 454hp pistons for decreased compression.Turned up pump up with matching injectors and turbo. He has some YouTube videos up I believe.I was very impressed by their set up.

I remember when Brett was building that truck. Its originally a V-MAC electronic E7 350. They had a Blixton module and bigger injectors but I believe they were having timing issues with getting the VMAC 350 programming to run right with the 15:3 pistons. They then converted over to a fully manual p7100 pump and finally got it to run correctly last i heard.

Thats been a few years ago so it would be interesting to see how that setup is holding up.
