Handy, yes, but it grows old quick, working out of a truck!  BTDT. No one brings parts out to you, you have to go fetch, there are plenty of things "back at the shop" that you know you have but not with you at the moment.

No matter how hard you try to think of everything you might need, there is always more that you don't have. Still there is alot you can accomplish with a mobile repair truck.

I kept a little Honda trail 70 in the back of my pickup for that very reason, parts fetching that is. I must have carried over 1000lbs of small odds and ends back and forth from the field to the shop. Pick it up and throw it in the back when done.

And sorry again for highjacking the thread lol.

The Pioneer seems more oriented as an OTR type truck, and the Anthem is seemingly a bridge between that and say a Pinnacle. Still, we've seen a couple day cab Pioneers that were ordered in, so I feel like there's an overlap of the two models. I think one difference would be technology, as the Pioneers have the option for the digital mirrors among other stuff. There's probably some other details like tuning and such, but for the most part they seem almost interchangeable.

I will also let everyone know that the new air systems are going to be wonderful to deal with, because they thought that brass fittings were so last year and went to plastic style that requires a tool to unplug. Add on a super complicated air dryer system that has a computer module JUST for it and BOOM; already had several brand new trucks have issues. Don't get me started on the also complicated 24v battery system!

Ya bud I think that maxed  out with all the 1966 models … well they had a good run for many years I wish them the best…  especially the old timers that are still with the firm …. Bob

Yes, the new Volvos and Macks are 24v, and it's already a crap show. There's an updated procedure to jump the trucks off correctly THAT DOESN'T WORK. Customers have tried, we have tried. And nearly every time a truck gets jumped off, it fries the module that regulates the charging system. Yes, that's right, there's a module right there with the batteries! There's a module for EVERYTHING on these new trucks.

Got to remember a lot of European stuff has been 24 volt for a long time.  Volvo just F%^& it up! The British and Austrian city buses I worked on were all 24 volt. Most motor coaches are 24 volt.

And the entrapment continues! VOLVO TRASH!

lol my company had a bunch of Volvo while back they dumped all of them after a couple years but kept one and that thing was sent back to dealership over and over for engine shutdown because of low coolant level with radiator full they can’t figure out the problem… so most of the time it just sits nobody wants to drive it
