1986 mack superliner Neway suspension

86 suspension neway track bar on rear tandom has a gusset/spacer plate bolted to the frame where it is attached to the frame. Can anyone tell me if this is factory or did someone put this together?  If its not factory would this affect my axel center point to center line of truck?  Reason for asking is I want to fix the rust jacking but want to make sure its done the right way.

Thanks everyone!

Fairly sure that is factory. It spreads out the side load on the frame. The distance from the inside of the frame to the axle is the critical one, outside the frame doesn't matter or change anything.

Take it off, repair the rust jack and either replace the plate with new steel or re-use if not bad.

I was planning on just replacing that out side plate by making a new one.  I tried downloading another photo but there is another plate on the inside of the frame rail as well. Think there should be one there also? That was the one I was afraid would throw alignment off

If it isn't factory (???)  it might be covering a crack in the frame. As far as alignment worst you're  looking at is replacing the torque rod with a different one. Maybe a Unirod and some shims to set it correctly. Or ???  someone may have already been through that if (?) that inside plate was added. That outside plate is nothing to replace.

Plate on the inside may be because they set it up for double frame, then they only have to spec one rod for single or double frame trucks. My Marmon is that way.

Just duplicate the plates you take off, and you'll be good.
