I'm almost done with an ENDT -673.  I have the engine set on #1 at Zero degrees.  I do have the correct manual, but this time I am asking those of you who have done it to give me some pointers. Will i need a high pressure pump to push fuel through the inj. Pump ?  I will post pictures of the pump soon. I am trying to figure that out without posting links.  Jojo

Joey  check it first ! remove no 1 delivery valve  re assemble without the spring and valve snug the nut set engine close to the timing mark in engine rotation  pump the primer once fuel is flowing turn the engine till fuel stops flowing at the no 1 line outlet where it stops is where its timed! If you need to change it set the engine on the timing mark loosen the slotted bolts on the pump gear and turn the pump shaft with the same procedure in engine rotation when the flo stops  it’s where you need to be!

Is that a bench priming procedure? Then mount it to the engine at the books setting then recheck it by rotating the engine back to the timing mark?

Any time bro ! Just message me if you run into grief! All gooder happy to help! Also my self I like to blow time it’s a lot less messy! Same process just have to make a hose to connect to the inlet blo on it till you feel it stop a little fuel on the outlet you watch the for the bubbling to stop and your good to go!🙄

going to pay attention to this one !.question from student to Teacher :: how can a pump be timed on a bench ??  timing sets the pump to an engine cyl? the 11/4 slotted wrench you now have is for the barrel hold down . course don't need it when there aren't fuel lines attached.

Joey I added to the post! That’s on the engine yes double check your set by backing up the instant the flow stops is port closing! The coupling drive should be doweled and a tooth notched out for it!

the large "freeze out "plug front section is removed to give you a birds eye view of pump coupling as to assist in proper alignment.

That's why I asked questions.. i dont know what im doing with this pump. I have set a few Robert Bosch pumps on the bench jig to set the pump before install. But this one is new to me.  I do have a special tool box that a freind helped me fill with good home made tools. I will bring it out tomorrow. 🍻

the Teacher won't run "into grief " ; he knows - we are being tested in class to see who's paying attention ,LOL

WHEN I make it to NC ; before a few beers you will have to show me the bench procedure, will be interesting to learn new stuff on the old stuff, in the day all injection pumps were sent out for build/ calibrate. in house work done on the engine.

I dont have a bench jig. The shops i worked at had them. This pump was rebuilt and bagged up till today when i took pictures. If it is benched timed by the rebuilder, then i guess i need to back the engine up 30+ degrees and bring it around till the coupler matches up..  Yes or no ? Then flow time it like fjh said..

The plug with the big slot ?  That makes sense.. thanks mech,

Teacher’s assistant will add a suggestion! I always try to Aline the doweled splines with the out side mounting bolt and the spline cutout with the bolt hole on the pump housing! Also  the big plug there was used in conjunction with the tang drive it was eventually done away with soon after the tang drive was deleted! The fiber drive I believe was introduced to quiet things down ! Same as it was on the compresor! Note! I have seen one of these break before should always check them for cracks on the back side!
you pump shop likly did that !The coupler is keyed on that pump Robert Bosch not keyed! That is when you could use the jig! It can also be done on the engine with out the jig it was just another cash grab essential tool. Much like the lash tool for the dyna yard! Improvise folks!
