Popular Post 66dc75 Posted February 23, 2019 Popular Post Share Posted February 23, 2019 Seeing as my F350 dump is disappearing before my eyes and since I don't want to replace all the sheetmetal on a truck with 190k on it, time for Craigslist. Found a 2000 k3500 6.5 diesel with 49k original on it for $2600, just needs a transmission (no reverse) and a bulldog hood ornament. A guy who lives down the street from my shop stopped by and said he thinks he has a good tranny for it so that might work out pretty good. Very clean almost rust free 20 year old truck, don't find that in New England often. Brought it home this morning, managed to put the front wheel thru the trailer deck while loading. Dirtymilkman Posted February 23, 2019 Share Posted February 23, 2019 The 6.5 was one of the best sounding engines at a idle. Just make sure you put the Duramax fan on it and relocate the PMD. Popular Post Terry T Posted February 23, 2019 Popular Post Share Posted February 23, 2019 In Sept of 2000 I traded the 1993 K1500 that I ordered new for a 2000 K2500 that was on the lot for nearly a year and acquired 46 miles moving snow on the dealership lot. Mine is a 350 gas engine but has the cold weather package on it. In 19 years I've put 191K & change on it and a few grand in repairs, tires & maintenance but it has really never truly let me down. Original owner bought it to plow for the town. First time out got it hung up and stuck, decided plowing was not for him and never plowed again. I remember there was a huge cranberry warehouse for Ocean Spray near the Dairy Queen in Wareham on the old road in the early 70's. Handy to have that road called the Cranberry Highway. Popular Post 66dc75 Posted December 7, 2019 Author Popular Post Share Posted December 7, 2019 This truck turned out to be really nice to use and live with so I sent it out to have the oilpan changed since it was getting rusty and porous. Got it back, put about 80 miles on it and the 50k original miles engine that ran amazing started rapping, squeaking, misfiring and smoking. Mechanic that did the pan said no possible way they did anything to it. So pulled valve cover, everthing ok there,no water in oil, no pressure in the crankcase, still had good oil pressure but woul barely run. All the noise was from #8 so we changed the injector, no better. Looked on Craigslist and found a 52k original miles truck that the rust termites had wiped out payed 800 for it. Got 225 in scrap for what was left plus 6 very good tires and a rebuilt 4l80e with 1000 miles on it so it wasn't a bad deal. We swapped the new motor in, replaced front body mounts and brackets and put a better set of sheet metal from another parts truck I picked up. Truck runs great now hoping it stays that way. Hopefully will be painting it before Christmas. If I ever need an oilpan again I'll do it myself.
