On all of the AC's I have seen or ever fooled with, the pto is on the drivers side of the tranny, and it is controlled with a shaft that puts it in or out of gear.  The only other shaft to the tranny is the gear shift lever which rotates and moves forward and back to select the gear you want.

It must have a different  tranny in it then. It has the gear shift shaft going into the front of the tranny. And  to the  left of it and down  a few inches is the shaft that goes in and out that's hooked to a lever that goes forward and back. Its next to the shift lever. The pto is on top. Thanks for your input.

Thanks it's a ac mack I think it's early to mid 30s  I will get a pix of the tranny.  Like I said before it has a pto on top and two shafts going in the front  one goes to the shifter and the other goes to a lever  next to the shifter that might be  high and low

The serial number should be stamped on the frame on the left (drivers) side, facing up (on the top flange of the frame).  What is that number?  We can tell you when built (approximately), and what size/capacity it is.  It should be a number, like 10ACXXXX, or similar.

That is a factory  PTO /Drive for the MACK build Double Screw Dump body unit. Here is a few pics for about 1929 to 1932 or so. I had to photograph them because I can't flatten the book enough to scan it.  The hole one the lower left is where the up / down control rod passes through to the screw feed on the dump unit. So your unit had a MACK built heavy dump body from the factory.

You can see it clear in one photo.  One of my AC 6 units has the same set up. Trucks at my property in Va and I'm in Maine so not photos
