A member here had two Day Elders burn up when his garage got set ablaze by the welding company next door. One was bought new by his grandfather and was the first truck shown and to receive an award at the AACA Hershey show. Mike

The East Port L.I. fire dept has a 1931 Day-Elder with a Peter Hirsch pumper unit, bought new and restored in 2013 for the departments 100th anniversary.

The one for sale is a 1919 model year or newer. Day-Elder incorperated in 1918 and debuted it first trucks in 1919. By 1937 they were out of business.
