nasty51ford Posted November 8, 2014 Share Posted November 8, 2014 I was driving my 1958 B67 tonight, and when I went to leave church (YEAH ! I drove it to church! Lol) I noticed the left rear inside tire was wet on the inside, like a seal was leaking, but only on a third of the tire, so I guess it must have leaked the last two days it sat , there is no oil on the outside of the tire, or in the wheel, so I was thinking maybe the vent was clogged, the whole rear of the pumpkin was wet, but nothing in the front of the pumpkin (the face) it looks like it came out of the vent, I twisted the little plastic cap on the vent, it was stubborn at first, but then it started spinning freely. But if it WAS clogged, how could the lube get out of it? Strange, I can see any where else for the lube to get out.I took these pics after I got home, a 15 mile drive, the spot on the tire is the same, and there doesn't seem to be any more on the rear end than there was before I left church. mrsmackpaul Posted November 10, 2014 Share Posted November 10, 2014 mate if your vent breather what ever is blocked what happens is as the oil heats up it expands and gets forced out the seal as it has no were to go once the vent is cleaned a lot of the time the seals are then fine. In the tropics were I live we quite often have problems with mud wasps blocking everything up it is common for people to put a piece of hose and a inline fuel filter to stop the breathers blockingor at least this is my understandingPaul 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My mixer has that hose and fuel filters on both the rears and trans, always wondered why it was done. Makes sense with concrete dust and such.
