Danged stupid computer worked fine this morning, now it won't do $#!+ (that's comic book cussing...not bad,eh?). Can't get online, my fix-it disc, and everything else says "not responding", and the little wheel keeps spinning. Been trying to fix it, restarted it several times, wasted several hours, nothing...summanabish worked fine this morning. What's wrong with it? Is it fixable?..or should I throw it out in the driveway? I've got over 4,000 pictures saved on my computer!

I have a laptop too, I finally just plugged it in to see what was going on here. "bummer"- Bob, 2013.

Bob, if you can step away slowly from your computer and give it to a local expert (same thing happened to me) and see if your data=pictures can be retrieved. Lost all mine and thank goodness I have some of the originals but all the ones family sent to me are gone. Then bought a new Toshiba satellite and love it....Good luck!

Mark, As Tim said, bring it to a pro. As long as it's still in one piece, there's hope. And you probably don't need to be told this now but back up or save your impotent stuff on a disc or flash drive.

thank you Arnold.

Recently had two computer problems. Someone hacked my address book and sent junk mail out to everyone on it and the other one I had an Email from "FedEx" that I opened and it totally corrupted all my files. Took my computer guy 6 hours @ $65/hr to correct it and I still am finding problems.

As others have said get someone who knows computers to fix it

Take it to the Best Buy in Gladys or Winfall and get the Geek squad to fix it. They fixed mine that was diagnosed wrong. Now it is a back up. Now when I have problems instead of a hammer I contact the Geek squad.

This is Mack country. On a quiet night you can hear a peterbilt rust away.

Sounds like it got corrupted somehow. Do you have an updated virus scan/protection package?? Get someone who knows what they are doing to reboot it in SAFE MODE for you......Set the internal clock backwards by several days, then light it back up in regular mode. Make sure your virus software has all been updated and then run it. Then make sure your virus protection is set to run automatically at night (dont ever shut off your computer) every other night or so. I highly recommend NORTON 360 PREMIER EDITION. Look around on the internet, it lists for about $100 in stores but you can usually find it for $40-50 bucks if you shop around online. This is a great package because it comes with an online backup site to store the entire contents of your hard drive elsewhere. Get someone who knows what to do to help you set that up. Or I highly recommend a big external hard drive that you can hook into your desktop and/or laptop and backup all your files onto.

Also, download MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE (The FREE version.) Make sure you run that at least once every other night. This should keep your system fairly clean.

A ball-pein will fix damn near anything..lol

Stay away from the porn and you won't have those problems.

Or at least stay out of winfall

Maybe there might be a girl to fix his computer problem in winfall......

I have the Avast Pro antivirus system that I just updated this morning, AOL computer check up, and I bought a Fix It Utilities Professional "fix, maintain, and speed up your computer" disc a few weeks ago.Everything checked fine, ran a scan this morning then just all of a sudden everything ground to a halt. It's working again now, but a little slower than normal.

I left the fix-it utilities scan running last night, restarted it this morning, ran the registry cleaner-fixer, optimized all programs and features, optimized windows and whatever else I could find to optimize and it seems fine so far, fast as ever too. Hope it's not fixing to blow up, like a truck engine- they always run their best right before they blow you know.
