Looking for some help. I have heard in the past that the alternator will not kick in until the truck is run at a higher rpm for an extended amount of time. I had it tested and it came back okay. Put new battery in it and ran it at idle for a extended amount of time and the battery went dead.

Will the alternator charge the battery at a idle speed.............and the truck came as a positive ground system.

Any help would be appreciated.

A single wire alternator needs to turn about 1000 rpms to "cut in"...that is alternator RPM, not engine idle speed! On my B model, I have to rev the engine to get the alternator to cut in, then it charges (at a reduced rate) at all rpms...

Thanks for the feedback. It is a single wire - what kind of engine RPM do you run yours too kick it in?

Also - is your B model a positive ground system?
