  5. I like the Interiors. But don't like the hood and front end. Looks like a cross breed of a volvo and a mack JIm
  6. Personally I would try and keep the truck as original as possible. It may be more aggrevating trying to get parts and so fourth, But in the end you have a beautiful original classic mack that is worth a lot more money to the purist. The value of these is the same as a numbers matching collectors car They are worth more $$$$ in there original state !! It looks like you have a diamond in the rough there!! "definetly lots of potental!!." Hopefully you can pick her up for the right price! Jim Shea !
  7. maybe we can morph our wives back a few years Lol Jim

  10. Brian I will assume you will be going north on 495 from either the mass pike , 290 or rte 9 . Go North on 495 and and get off on the rte 62 exit towards hudson. Take a right off the ramp onto rte 62 and follow it past the dodge dealer on the right and keep going until you hit the rotary. To this point will be about 3 miles off the highway. As you enter the rotary bear right towards Mcdonalds and ace hardware. "you will see them both as you enter the rotary" then as you go by ace hardware which will be on your right take the first right which is park st. Stay on that road for about 1 1/2 miles and you will see the show on your right . Jim !
  11. Thanks for the advice Tim. I will be looking into that for sure. I 'm sure that will be good news for Trent also! Thanks Jim !

  13. Those lights look great Trent I agree with you about just getting a little bit of lighting back there to be seen. Nice job. JIm
  14. Well Trent and Nigel The Mack is back and the mystery continues. The mechanics and Myself for that matter didn't see or find anything jumping out at us and I didn't want to turn it into a million dollar pursuit. My shocks are fine , the front end is tight , tires are brand new . I will just cope with it for now . Nigel the truck was already in the shop by the time I got your post. I'm glad you found , and were able to fix the source of your problem ! Looks like me and Trent will still be making scrambled eggs on the way to work between 30 and 40 mph !! Thanks for your help guy's JIm
  15. That is a nice looking truck. Can't beat all the chrome !! The Interior to me is very nice ! Jim
  16. this is a case where "a picture's worth a thousand words" JIm !!
  17. I shift my 9 speed road ranger the same as Fred and Trent. Down shifting is always more tricky than up shifting. I think my syncros are a bit on the tired side also. If you have plenty of normal slow down distance it's easier to go down one gear at a time, the tricky part is in the event of a sudden slow down that requires you downshift to the second or third gear lower imediatly from the one your in.In that case the speedometer will come in handy. I will at times put my left foot on the brake and rev the engine with my right foot to get the speed and rpm's in line with one another and the feel my way into the downshift. On my truck I keep practicing different situations. I always try and give myself plenty of gear reduction room in a comfortable manner so I can get into gear as smoothly as I can one gear down at a time. I very rarely use the clutch. I also use the brake as little as possible. I use gearing to slow the truck down as often as I can. JIm !
  18. My 1985 U688t model bounces between 29 and 39 mph. below or above that it is fine. I just dropped it off to have a few things done to it and I mentioned the bouncing. I will let you know what the verdict is on it when I get it back. I hope they can fix or at least minimize it without to much work involved. The type of bounce that it has is real aggravating. Aside from that it goes down the road streight and smooth ,no pulling or wandering . JIm !
  19. Thanks ! and same to you and everyone else !! Jim !
  20. I think the batteries in his hearing aid were dead !!
