  1. Greetings down in sunny Florida lol. Got the itch to use the new plow, I'm doing the snow dance but nothing but rain in our forcast
  2. Plow is sandblasted, painted and ready for action! All we need now is some of the white stuff. Starting to get funny looks driving around with the sled on the front of the DM
  3. 12 / 24 tube type open centers! Did I here go big or go home? LOL I had a super dog with 58's and big 24 inch rubber depite the price of the tires the truck sure did sit nice...used to call her bigfoot
  4. Does your truck have an air dryer? If so it could be stuck open, if no dryer I would start with a new governor...they are cheap and common to go bad.
  5. Theres a nice Mack MH six wheel tractor on ebay, looks like original owner farm truck with a cummins. $5500.00 looks clean, thought it might work for you. The item number 110618148429
  6. I saw in a post someone was looking for the grill top trim piece for a super dog...there is one for sale on Ebay, auction just started today. Hope this helps someone in need!
  7. Snap on all the way...I tend to buy off Ebay mostly, have well over 100K invested if not more over the coarse of 17 years. The thing now is a lot of the stuff is being made over seas, China Taiwan etc and they are still charging top dollar off the truck. I buy lightly used on Ebay, half if not more off the truck cost. I have one pet peave, I REFUSE to buy tools if they are not made in USA, I'll spend a few hundred more if I have to and believe me I am by no means wealthy! All snap on jacks, electronic diagnostic equipment, chisels, files, vises are now being imported...go figure. Ebay is a savior for good older USA made equipment and tools. For instance I just bought an 8 inch Wilton torpedo vise ($1200.00 in Grainger) for $250.00 and it is in like new condition, I'd like to also add it has to be 25 plus years old...when they still made tools!
  8. Yeah, thats a good one lol
  9. Name: Mack DM600 (1989) Date Added: 28 November 2010 - 04:42 PM Owner: oldmacktrucks Short Description: 89 Mack DM600 10 wheel dump. 58 rears, 20 front, air shift 6 speed, 300 2 valve with a tip turbine. Truck was built as a glider kit in 89, all components from Mack were pedigreed at the time of the build, rears, tranny and engine so I gues you can say it is a true 89 with older more reliable (in my opinion) components. 10. I would go with the clutch fan out of the old R model, it should fit...does your radiator have shutters in the front? Depending on the thermostat in that engine it might run cool in the winter. I have an 89 glider kit DM600 and with the older engine and no shutters its like pulling teeth to get heat in the winter unless you cover up the radiator...I miss my older trucks, shtters work so nice in the cold
  11. Single axle is nice, just seems a bit pricey...I've seen clean cab over Macks from Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas etc etc with no rust, never seen salt air going for peanuts. What I've found is if you jump on something and think OMG its the last truck like this around...2 weeks later one pops uptwice as nice for half the price...Murphys law. I would keep an eye out on truck paper.com and e-bay, I see them come up alot, there was one in Idaho a few months ago went for $4500.00 it was a twin screw tractor, Mack front to back and super clean...a grain farmer used it local and yes he was the original owner. The truck was sold to a Nigerian and was exported...I called on it and offered the guy $5000.00 but the deal was already done. They are out there if its what you want (sounds like it is) buy em...if you dont plan on selling it its worth as much as you want to pay. Just take in thought time is money, so if the trucks are 6 grand, add time and transport for both by the time your done its more like 9 or 10 and for that money there is a ton of stuff around like what your looking for
  12. Just curious but are these trucks for sale by Martins farm trucks? If you really like old iron all joking aside I would put my money into an old R model or a DM 10/6 wheeler...those trucks always hold a good re-sale value with the exporters...I know it sucks but when all else fails and you have to sell, they will pay...cabovers really never held much value, light frames, 38 rears etc etc. General rule of thumb (what I swear by anyway) never buy something as a toy unless you can unload it and break even. I've been buying and selling Macks for almost 17 years now, I've owned em all and for a hobby I would lean towards a conventional, cant go wrong. I will however say that I'm a sucker for F models lol! One thing to think about, if you get an old truck you can register and insure it as a collectable, which means no DOT#'s no IFTA and insurance around $400.00 a year
  13. I stand corrected it was an MB...the F Model was for sale in truck paper, the truck on e-bay was a nice one...somebody got a nice deal
  14. About a week ago I stumbled upon an F model 6 wheeler box van with a liftgate on E-bay...super clean original very low miles with a $5000.00 buy it now, it was only on ebay for a day...did anyone here buy it? It was a nice un touched ex government truck...hard to find them like that these days.
  15. I guess I forgot to set the time and date stamp on the camera! This picture was taken March of 2010 on our first trip to Nevada with a load of shop equipment, it took 3 trips with the tractor 2 with my F-350 flatbed and 1 with a 26 foot U-Haul...we have lots and LOTS of equipmnet!
