We had a midnight visitor last night - well, technically it was at 10:30 but it was dark out and nothing good happens after dark. The dumb ass got to digging in some storage containers where I keep truck parts and he fooled with some PTO's and some crane blocks - WTF? was he just planning to carry them all out? He also flipped a table with a aerial lift bucket sitting on it over - Why? My son was filling the wood furnace for the night and heard the noise so I grabbed this: I called 911 and told them they had 30 seconds to get here to beat me to the barn, hung up when the dumb broad dispatcher told me to stay in the house, and then did my best turkey stalk up the drive to see what was up The jackass was inside a junk 28 foot semi trailer and he stuck his head out and saw me right when I saw him, he then raised his hand and I thought he might have a weapon so I shot him. I had #4 shot and I was pretty far away, but I shoot where I look and I practice. 1/4 of the pattern hit the trailer side and the rest went in the trailer, so I at least tickled him. I never knew you could pattern a shotgun so well on the side of an aluminum trailer! After I shot, I ducked behind a tractor parked in the lot and I heard him fall out of the trailer onto the rock. I ran sideways behind a stack of supersingles on a pallet and got two more shots off in his direction - I could not see in the dark where he was. The hay rake, the DM, and the Massey fork lift all took one for the team as they got peppered with shot The dirtbag ran off and hid around my neighbors diesel tanks until the cops came and he took off again and they did not catch him. They called this morning and said that no one had checked in at the hospital with a gun shot wound - yet. I hope that whatever led this misguided individual to come to MY house last night gets fixed, the whole neighborhood is out right now armed and looking for him. My wife sat up all night after this while I snored away, I slept the sleep of an innocent babe knowing that a pistol packing pregnant woman was watching over things!

Bernadette is the shop cat queen around here - showed up at our parish and jumped on my shoulder like she wanted to go home with me. Damn thing got grey hair on my suit! I would not trade her for anything - I have never fed her, she keeps the shop mouse free and when there is no food to be had around the cattle pens, she heads to the wood piles for din-din. I wish my kids were that easy of keepers.

I have an almost identical shop cat, except mine is missing the last 4 inches of its tail - where the dog ALMOST caught it! Everyone needs a good shop cat and a big jack

Telemarketer hassling...............funny stuff
Olivetroad replied to Freightrain's topic in Odds and Ends
That is funny! We always answer the phone and then stick it in the top drawer of the table the phone sit on while we "go looking" for whomever the telemarketer was calling for - keep them on the line as long as you can -
Oh wait - english major wife just had a big snort - I meant AISLE in the above post - not one of those spots of land out in the ocean - isle. She wanted to call me a dumbass, but she is too sweet

I may be stupid - wait, let me rephrase that - I am stupid. But I know enough that no one on here REALLY means to be negative towards this truck. I started this thread because I would love to have this truck, it is beautiful so who wouldnt? but I am realistic enough to know that for my use, it honestly is too nice for me! The beauty of this forum is that opinions are freely expressed, usually that is each individual's way of showing how they would have done something different, choose different colors, add or subtract from a trucks original set up or whatever. But this is not intended to take away from the way the seller or poster did it. I know that I have learned a lot from reading on here when guys notice little things that are not original or not their top choice if they were going to fix it up themselves. But that is just their opinion, they still respect the other person's best paint color choice, skill level with fiberglass, financial ability, and time commitments that all pool together to form what the owner was able to do. Everyone on here wants to see a Mack restored. As far as price, I think all guys that know trucks have a tendency to not want to pay what restored trucks are really worth, and why does this offend anyone? Usually this is because they have the ability that 90 percent of the public does not have - the abiltiy to restore something themselves. Don't sell it for less money than you want for it. From the day I fixed up my first pickup, I learned that it is awfully hard to ever get your total money back out of a vehicle unless you buy one cheap and just resell it without doing any work on it (how often does that happen?) I am a firm believer that the owner of anything has the right to set whatever price he wants when he goes to sell it. And everyone else has the right to make offers, or tell the seller what they think it is worth - that has nothing to do with what the final sale price is. That should not offend anyone - the seller does not have to take it. If the price is true to the current market value, it will sell, if not, it won't. I know that I personally would never be offended by any of the comments I have read on this thread if they were directed towards a truck I owned. They are directed towards the truck, not towards my worth as a person! Here more than anywhere else that I have found on the internet, all opinions, thoughts, and knowledge is appreciated and almost always is never intended to be negative or drive someone away. Sorry to be so wordy, I am so tight with money, I stretched my two cents into a quarter.

Ha! That reads like you would speak it from the deep south - he be day-id

My sister in Lexington said that town is just a little further east. I wish it had a little higher gears for highway work. Are those straight 24 inch tires on there or 24.5 you think?

I want it, I want it bad. It has been on there with a buy it now of $9000.00 if I remember correctly. I just put the first bid down, but I bet it won't be the high one. I just wish someone would slap me upside the head for being so tight - everytime I buy something nice, I usually can talk myself into forgetting how much I paid anyway. I just bought a landoll trailer and I can see that old girl pulling it down the road. I have 7 trucks I have bought all over the midwest in the last few months that I need to get home, I think I am gonna go out and see how many DOT tickets and gallons of fuel I can run up in a month. It has been a while since I did much out of state hauling, I may need help brushing up on my lingo: chicken coop, big road, comedian, large car, come on.

I had one that every year would churn out a "New" edition so you had to buy a brand new one - &%# hole.

Very little is simple when dealing with a Government that has over extended its reach as far as ours has. One thing that is simple, and cannot be denied, is that the government is spending way more than it has. Just the amount we pay out in interest on the national debt is unsustainable. All of the economic charts show that we are headed for a big "correction" because of all the debt we regularly add to pay for programs and the interest we owe for the use of that money that is not ours. Sure, in a simple world, we would love to help all the Grandmas get a free hip replacement, and all of us to have a larger Social Security check each month, stronger defense, free school lunches, better highways, extended unemployment benefits, etc, etc, etc, but at some point, we just don't have the money to pay for the free stuff the government gives out. Each program, when taken as an individual item, how can you not support it ? - they are generally all good things. But that does not change the fact that we just don't have the money to pay for them all at the levels we are at right now. Too much outgo, with not enough income to sustain it. We are not that different from Greece. If our society is ever able to wrap its head around the sheer volume of the debt versus our ability to pay it back, the house of cards will fall apart and NO ONE can bail out the USA.

TLC = Torch,Level, & Come-along - I thank you for this additional acronym I can add to my repertoire! (did you notice the five dollar words I used!) -
Good thunking! But you missed the chance to have justification to go buy a Mack bucket truck or better yet a Mack crane. Tim goes to house after looking at one loose shingle: "Honey, I really hate to do it, but the ole barn you love so much is about to fall over! The high winds done blowed her clean sideways off her rocker. I just gotta go buy that DM with the National 880 crane I saw for sale the other day. Then I would be cooler than that Backer boy out there in Missouri. His crane is on a FORD! Time is wastin, I gotta buy that crane!'" Wifey responds: "Well, okay baby, if you really need it, they you just go ahead and do what you think is best, I want you to make all the decisions around here from now on. I really love that barn ever since we were dating and we went for a walk that time up to the hay mow..........................."

The folks who are getting the free stuff don't like the folks who are paying for the free stuff, because the folks who are paying for the free stuff can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff. The folks who are paying for the free stuff want the free stuff to stop, and the folks who are getting the free stuff want even more free stuff on top of the free stuff they are already getting! Now... The people who are forcing the people who pay for the free stuff have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff, that the people who are PAYING for the free stuff, are being mean, prejudiced, and racist. So... The people who are GETTING the free stuff have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free stuff by the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff, and giving them the free stuff in the first place. We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff. Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded. The reason? The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them. The United States officially became a Republic in 1776, 235 years ago. The number of people now getting free stuff outnumbers the people paying for the free stuff. We have one chance to change that. In 2012. Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we know it. ELECTION 2012 IS COMING A Nation of Sheep Breeds a Government of Wolves!

A friend sent me an email with these photos and info - Pretty bad lookin' boat! As many know, we here in Texas have a border problem. Lake Falcon is a lake that borders Texas and Mexico . Last year several boaters were killed by drug cartel folks from the other side. We are now aware that the automatic weapons used in the killings were probably from "Fast and Furious". When Texas joined the Union as a sovereign nation in 1836 we retained the right to have a Navy to ward off the Mexicans since the United States refused to protect us. This is our first Naval vessel of this century, small but potent. It will soon be safe to fish and boat on the Lake Falcon this summer. Just about every Texan is prepared to be in a gun fight, and you can't have enough guns. The TEXAS DPS - New 36 ft. Patrol/Gunboat [pictured at the Homer Garrison Law Enforcement Academy , in Austin ] Designed and built to patrol Falcon Lake . . . The armaments onboard include 5 - static mounted [2 dual & 1 single]FN M240B 7.62◊51 mm NATO Light machineguns, 2 - Barrett .50 BMG Sniper Rifles, and other assorted 5.56 rifles, 9mm sub machineguns, and grenade launchers. MEXICAN PIRATES?. . . . . . . . . . . ."Bring 'em on !"
