I didn't do that - no one saw me do that - no one was around when I did that!

When you are lucky enough to be married to such a high caliber of lover, wooer, sweetie, and protector like me, every day feels like your wedding day....................... Doesn't that make you blush?

Hug that boy and keep him close - next thing you know he will be shaving!

No, I did not know that they had been around as long as those Jerusalem cedars! We have always gotten a lot of them from mixing shorthorns and black bulls. The buyers go crazy over them at the sale barn. I try and bunch up 20 or more of them and they will flat top the sale every time. I have never sold a blue roan heifer - they get to die on the place. I don't really know why I even like them so well, let alone why the next dude does. But they always seem to be good solid, quiet cows that give a lot of milk. I remember asking my grandfather why he liked them so well, and he said "They just have a good eye about them". I now know what he means, but I can't explain it! After I took those photos yesterday, I looked up in the records and that cows great grandmother is the oldest cow in the herd by far - she was born when I was a senior in high school in 1988! She is thin and ancient looking, and can't keep up with the rest of the herd running in the winter to the feed truck but she has had a calf every year since. I always save her the last 1/4 of a bag of cubes and take it to her.

A friend of mine used to own this truck and he called to let me know it is going to be auctioned off in a few weeks. I have been looking for a Mack tractor to pull a landoll trailer. He said it has a six cylinder Mack engine, 8 speed transmission, aluminum wheels, tires are 60% or better, air lift third axle, coffin sleeper, and heavy spring rear ends - that is all he remembered. I know it is a wide range, but what is a ballpark as far as value? sorry for the crappy photo I plan on shooting anyone that shows up at the auction and outbids me so you have been warned!

Every year I buy a lot of step vans from electric and gas companies. About half of them go to contractors, usually plumbing or HVAC guys. Out of the rest, more and more are going to become roach coaches like you are talking about. The last one I sold had a built in 7KW diesel generator, a hydraulic system for running tampers and drills, and a V8 Ford air compressor where half the cylinders run the engine and the other half pump air - pretty serious set up. It was a neat deal and the guy paid a mint for it. He bought it, took it to the west coast and made a lunch wagon out of it. He called to tell me to find him another one and I asked him what he did with all the hydraulics and compressor and he said he just ripped it all out and junked that stuff - made me sick! I saw a great show on the Food Channel or something similar that was about the rise in the number of roach coaches everywhere. They were mostly old redone step vans if I remember correctly. I have no idea who made the Schwans bed, I will look and see if I can find a plate on it. It was a cold plate bed where the boxes all have sealed "plates" on the bottom of them that freeze to keep the inside of the bed cold all day while you make your deliveries. I was told by a Schwans guy that before they sell them they remove all the doors - someone got locked inside a used bed and died. I have no idea if that is true or not, but I don't see any with the doors still intact. You can have that bed if you want it once I remove the copper lines from inside it that ran the coolant to the plates. I bet it would cost a pretty penny to get it home!

Help Me out!
Olivetroad replied to tkobes43's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I need a truck hauled from NJ back this direction, if you find someone looking for a partial load coming back. I have a sister in Louisvile where my truck can be left - or I bet we could find a place to stick it. -
Duke - Duke - That truck already sold - I bought it and it is not for sale. But BMT (Big Mack Trucks) is the right place to look for one - there may be others in the For Sale section like what you are looking for, but if not, check back often and also look on ebay. Just promise to post photos of what you buy when you find one! Welcome to the site!

Oh NO - here we go again - I am back in the Detroit 6-71 diesel business: This is getting to be like a recurring bad dream: Long wheel base tandem, 6-71 DEEEtroit, knuckleboom crane -
I always thought that it must help having a belly like a bowl full of jelly (sorry Clement Clark Moore) - most tire guys around here meet that requirement. I wonder if the "rebound" helps raise the hammer for the next swing?

If I was in your line of work, I would get every possible endorsement and training or whatever you need to be ready to haul anything that comes your way. All that stuff is a pain in the caboose, and there will always be guys that won't do it. So if you have it, those are guys you no longer have to compete against.

Badass engine! Any photos of whole truck? Hey David - Mirrors, Mirrors

Are you serious? I haul some of those now and then full of dye for a mulch company, I let my tanker and hazmat drop years ago - here we go again, more new rules

Close! Brangus X Shorthorn mother and a Angus daddy. That is the only one I have that looks that way - she is one of my favorites, we call her Holstein. About half her calves are blue roans - we keep every one of her heifers.

I wonder if the valve covers will leak oil and be under powered like every loadstar I ever drove?

Ha! Does shaving your head earn even more bonus points?

I had a clutch slipping in a truck (can't say what brand) and the dealer wanted $655.00 for the clutch assembly. I took it to this place: http://www.uniqueclu...com/default.asp which is only about 30 minutes from my farm, in the tiny town of Jonesburg Missouri. I dropped it off, went to eat lunch, and when I came back they had it done for only $174.00: I had them redo the clutch on my DM600 a while back and they did a great job on it as well. If you UPS them your clutch, they usually ship it back to you the day after they get it. Great folks to deal with.

Boy #2 moved up to head cattle checker today, he turns 11 next month. His older brother moved up to helping me in the shop two days a week - The blushing bride gave the okay to teach him to weld and run a torch. Matthew was proud as punch today on his hand-me-down chore tractor, I better stop him from checking the cattle more than twice a day, he will run the tires off the thing and we won't have any grass left. I sn't this what I am supposed to do with the kids? Teach them how to contribute to things around here? I have been reading where Washington wants to not allow anyone younger than 16 to drive a tractor - you just come on over and try to give me a ticket. Please mom - don't shit on my head!

Here is a pic of the Schwans body like the one I saw all tricked out. The wood doors and brass hardware made it look old, kind of like an old ice box. I also have seen a couple of antique trucks look pretty sharp with a nice service body like this without the boom: This bed looks way to modern, but I bet if you could find something similar to start with, and then trick it out to make it look older, it would be a lot cheaper than starting from scratch - these chemlawn beds are also all over the place: I have wanted to take a antique truck and install a chip bed like this one, that would look cool for a tree service: Sorry if this is boring or too many photos - I just really like the idea you have for what you want to do with your truck!

There you go again with that cat braggin'!

That thing really looks big and stout with that full grown lady standing next to it!
