Thanks Terry. found the ID in the triplex (TRTL72) but nothing on the duplex. Ran the numbers and the ratios in the triplex will work if it is in good shape. Will pull it apart in the next few days and check it out.
should be aluminum rear box, and direct in the front box, be sure to check countershaft end play, dial indicator through PTO opening, there are shims under back box cover plate on the end of countershaft. Terry I think i used the PTO gear to do this.

Look on left side of front box, right behind fill plug, might have to wire brush it real good to see, duplex will be a Trd 72 direct or a 720 overdrive, triplex will be a trt 72 or 720. Terry

Did you ever get these lenses? terry

I had an overdrive 12 spd in a DM dump with 4.17 rears, had the engine where I could turn 2300 RPM if I wanted, it could bury the 80 MPH speedometer! Terry

I did notice a small crack between the injector hole and valve seat. I am hoping that the shop is able to tell me that the head is repairable.
Yeah i have seen alot of them used with small cracks there. terry

Biggest problem with them heads are cracks between valve seats and between injector hole and valve seat. terry

Just checked your profile says you’re in Utah, I might know of some of them here, but you’re a long way from Omaha.🤷♀️. Terry

That rebuilt head from Vander Haggs didn’t work out? Terry

Looks like the big air filter used on the 285hp. series of engines. terry

Real common on all B models. Terry

looks real solid around that air filter, real bad spot for rust, and above the left cab mount can be another bad spot. terry ran one of them steel dash ones in a dump truck for years.

Adding onto that what is the difference between a long shaft pump an a short shaft pump? Does the radiator sit closer to the engine on the B models?
Yeah definitley sits closer. terry

Don't know if it is short enough, has to be no longer than the original B model pump. It has the shaft length, maybe compare to the b model one. terry

Unbolt tube #10 at front of oil cooler and slide out of oil cooler head, pry old o ring out of cooler head, put new O ring in in ,put some oil or a dab of grease on oil outlet tube and reinstall. terry

The temp gauge in my 673 ENDT is at 140 deg after 20 min on the road,in 85 deg weather, shutters still closed. The shutters seem to work, open when sitting cold, then close when air builds, but don`t open after that.I figured my temp gauge must be off, that I must be fully warmed up after 20 min.If the gauge is wrong and the temp is more like 170,then maybe the shutter stat is bad?
Check on the thermostat, thermostat has to be about 10 or 15 degrees cooler than the shuttstat, if your really working the engine the thermostat opens first, if still to warm then the shutter stat opens shutters and cools it down. Terry

Pictures great. I wouldn't switch to a 2 stick, those are geared for the Maxidyne engines, which would be either an EM6 or an EM7. The maxidynes have an 800+ rpm power and, in which they make 90%+ torque from 1000-1200 all the way up to the governor. An E7-400 is nice but it doesn't have the broad powerband. Also the 2 sticks aren't designed for THAT much torque. Plus you'd be looking at having to replace the driveshaft due to different length transmission. And cutting holes in your floor for the shifters.
Have to agree about the torque band comment, but that six speed can handle way more torque than that 400 can put out, how about all them high horse V8 engines with the 12 speed, same triple countershaft design. Terry

My Brother was fortunate enough to survive Viet Nam. upsetting me the fact Viet Nam was never a war ; it didn't meet the requirements of a war !!!! it was a conflict. are you fu--in kidding me over 58 thousand died and are still dying and suffering and it didn't meet the requirements. don't want to take a positive topic and turn it negative, just upsetting when military service people are turned in to pawns for a few who think its a game.
Served “69” in V.N. Terrible, terrible waste of young men over there, for absolutely nothing! Of course seems that’s the way all our conflicts go lately Terry

Got around to pulling my heads. Appears to have small crack fro injector to intake valve on a couple cylinders and number 4 liner is cracked at the top pretty bad. Are these EM6-285’s wet or dry liners? Any help is much appreciated
Should be a dry liner, i believe the E7 was the start of a wet liner. terry

I`m looking to remove the spoke hub grease caps without denting them...and without buying an $80 pr of pliers.I`m wondering if a strap type oil filter wrench would get it moving enough to get something behind it to pry it off?
Are you sure them don't screw on ? terry

When you set the endplay on the countershaft both boxes need to be bolted together, there is a tapered bearing between them, so when you check end play it is for both countershafts, it would be the last thing to do on reassembly. Terry
