  1. Ok, I've searched and I'm about to run out of time, need to leave to go pick up. I've got the 2 stick 6 speed, anyone have the shift pattern? When I drove it the first time I was getting coached....lol
  2. Thanks guys! I must say that the fine people on this website have inspired me to keep this girl alive and working! I'm sure ya'll get to know it well...lol
  3. I agree Mike, the engine and trans do what they are supposed to. This truck will clean up nice, it's in its original condtion, still has the original Mack 8 track radio. Once I get all the mechanis in order I'll probaly freshn' up the paint, change colors. The hour and speed gauge work, but I'm not sure they are accurate.
  4. Good morning all, I think I might have found a good truck to start out with for a dump. After traveling the south eastern united states only to find butchered up junk, I found this girl about 20 miles from home. It was bought new at our local Mack dealer and I know the history from new. Everything still there and in working order, just needs a little tlc, but runs and operates well. I think it'll make a good site truck. I'll post more photos when I get it home. Tell me what you think! 1979 Mack RD685S
  5. Got to love those days! At least your not hung up on the train tracks
  6. Hello, I've been bouncing around ideas for my CH too. This is the best I've come up with. Be sure to post some progress photos or any other ideas.
  7. I appreciate the info. I know gears grinding is never a good thing, but can it harm anything else in the trans if it doesn't get fixed or can I drive it until it has to be repaired?. I drover the truck again the other day and it only done it once out of several tries.
  8. Thanks a million, making sure everything added up. I do appreciate your help.
  9. Can anyone on here run a vin number for me. Looking at truck and wanting to know spec's etc. Feel free to message me if neccessary. Thanks!
  10. I've been researching methods for this too. Mine has a little more damage than yours but I found a thread on the Brockway sight where they cut the end off an aluminum tank at the weld seem, punded out the dents and zipped it back up. you can find it here a few post down the page http://www.brockwaytrucks.org/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1044&start=220
  11. Hello and welcome, I've been searching craigslist for a Mack dump and there are a ton of RD and DM roll offs available. I use searchtempest.com, you eneter your zip and search radius to find your item, also its best to use direct results mode, you'll miss out on a truck the other way. I agree with the others, a fresh paint job when you know there are repairs needed on the truck is a big red flag. Good luck!
  12. I would expect that from an International . The guy says it has been doing it for a few years and it hasn't gotten any worse or better, he drives it everyday. I'm thinking it is the syncro also, any rough ideal on cost to repair?
  13. I've read what I could find on here, but the problems I've seen on here are going from Hight to low, not low to high. Same problem?
  14. Good morning folks! I'm looking at buying a 98 RD688s with a 350 mack and 8LL trans. The truck has a little growl when going from low to high but does go into place. It doesn't jump out of gear and shifts well. What might the problem be and should it be a big concern? Thanks!
  15. Looking for a good heavy spec tandem or tri-axle to put to work her in the good ole USA! Let me know what you got.
  16. Here's a couple of me moving my Volvo EC220DL for the first time. Just sold a Deere 200CLC and bought this baby.
  17. Keep running up on these cool finds looking for a dump truck. Not affiliated, just wanted to share! http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/4221163475.html
  18. I was thinking the same thing on that trailer. I bet it would be a beast to turn with that kind of load, guess that explains the 500 engine.
  19. Not affiliated, just run up on it and thought it was a cool truck at a decent price. http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/hvo/4188782974.html
  20. I agree, it's a cool looking truck though! Does anyone have any idea of how many trucks are getting shipped over seas? I very curious of and actual number.
  21. This is a nice un. Should get r done! http://www.rockanddirt.com/search?l0=trucks&l1=MACK&l2=RD688SX&l3=invnum=9272582
  22. Time for one thing rowdy. I'm trying to keep the oil hot and the metal shinny on two pieces of equipment now. I do have a driver for the truck though, when ever I find one. I might would drive a little further for a good buy on the right truck.
  23. Thats an idea too. Right now just finding either a tandem or tri that's not worn and torn is the issue. One thats withing a few hundred miles anyway
  24. I agree with you guys 100% about the interior. I cant stand for for any of my cabs to stay dirty, I know they'll get dirty but not for long with me. Bought a cordless dewalt vacumm just for the job of cabs for my equipment and truck. It's just hard to find a good truck these days.....I may have to be more open to a tri axle. Any leads are greatlly appreciated!
