  1. there is a Superliner parked in town here, too. not a sleeper, but nice. it doesnt seem to have moved in quite awhile either. talked to the owner, he said he wanted to make it into a dump, but his son hated the old macks. . . . . . . so it is waiting . . . .
  2. oops, sorry, i put this in the wrong group . . . .
  3. Are there places that the fiberglass cab in a MH is prone to cracking? Thanx . . . .
  4. Well, that explains why the scanners have gotten so cheap in the last year. So, what technology do older "electronic" Macks use?
  5. So, last year i bought a code scanner from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiScan-MS300-OBD-II-Scan/dp/B001LHVOVK It was on sale for 19.99$ or something ike that, and it works well for what i need. I was wondering though, do the electronic mack engines use the same cable interface and protocols to talk to this scanner, or do I need a custom version? Thanx.
  6. So, they used single axle tractors with those trailers? Are there any pictures of twin screws pulling the horse trailers? I the calendar all horse trailer pictures, or are there pictures of their other moving business there also? A few of their older trailers are for sale here: http://www.frankdibella.com/semi.html For their age, they appear to be in great shape . . .

    Sick Horse:

You better believe it, espically if you get ones big enough to pull a plow. Believe me, i know: http://www.saskpercherons.com
  8. there is a 1988 V8 Superliner for sale over on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPERLINER-E9-V-8-MACK-/280611961218?pt=Commercial_Trucks&hash=item4155c6b982#ht_500wt_1182 i notice that it includes air cleaners on both sides of the hood (they appear to be different sizes, too). i was wondering why they were there. i thought part of the reason for the bigger hood was to get the air cleaner inside . . . thanx. . . .
  9. I must be the only one wondering why there was a volvo grill lying around for him to use . . . . . .
  10. When we're E-6 engines retired? Here is an ad for 1998 e-6 engined rd-690's: http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2416976
  11. so, is there a horsepower cutoff or something? are 400hp and above all electronic, while 350's and below are not? and anything beyond 94?
  12. so, my 1988 R688T has a mechanical E6 engine in it. when did electronic controls start to appear on Mack engines? what years or engine models signify the changeover?
  13. a bit rich for me, too . . . .
  14. At this point, i have found a site cwlled jaxed.com, which certainly loses points for user interface, but seems to do an ok job of getting a lot of stuff available. Here is the URL i use: http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?cat=cp&itm=mack&loc=&fil=&ys=&ye=&ps=&pe=&pgs=500&submit=++++go++++
  15. A stablemate of this truck is also for sale there: http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2533889&dlr=1 An 1988 r688st, similar paint and condition. Peersonally, I like the R better between these two. . . . . .. .
  16. So, I have noticed that most of the MH's that are for sale are from the narrow range of 1984-1988, although i am of the impression that MH's were made for the US market until 1993. how come most of the ones for sale tend to be from the 1980's? who was buying these trucks in the 1990's? was it mostly fleet buyers like UPS buying single screw non-sleeper units? and what has happened to all of them? are they in nigeria now? thanx . . . . .
  17. claz doesnt check craigslist. searchtempest.com screws with the output, and is too cluttered to figure out how to configure.
  18. So, i have been looking at trucks online for some time. For awhile i have been using craigslook.com to find listings that interest me on craigslist from across the US. Unfortunately, craigslook is now offline, because of some lawsuit. I have tried some of the other sites intended to allow me to search craigslist.com nationwide, but none of them seem as useful as cfaigslook.com was. So, do any of you have any suggestions for a site that will allow me to search craigslist all over the US? Thanx.
  19. So, it looks like he painted the engine gold. Was it just the lighting, or is the bulldog also brass plated?
  20. interestingly enough, i ran across this site today: http://www.buyandselltrucksleepers.com/ i dont know anything about them, although they appear to be related to this site: http://www.daycabs.com/
  21. How much does a truck like that go for?
  22. Ok, i have seen this in listings before, but now i just gotta ask. Here is a listing from truck paper: http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2474689 In the description section, it mentions "cruise" which I assume means cruise control. From the badly angled interior shot, i cannot see a stick shift. Does this mean that this truck has a 13 speed automatic transmission? I don't believe I have ever heard of a cruise control on a manual transmission vehicle, but i also thought that most of the automatic transmission macks were garbage/roll off trucks. I am sure this is a stupid question, but that never stopped me before. Thanx.
  23. So, hub piloted wheels are the current "standard"?
  24. So, why is there two methods of attaching wheels? Is one method favored for drive axles and the other for steering? Will you ever find both types on one truck? Do aluminum wheels come in both flavors? Do steel? This is the most useful page i have found about it: http://www.walkercoach.com/wheels.shtml But it really does not provide much information about why you would want one over the other. Thanx.
  25. Living up there now, I agree, they do seem to have "held their value" well up here:). There are two people who deal in used Macks around here: Global Truck Taders, who has an account here, and Aran Trading, whom i dont think does. GTT seems to churn their stock pretty well, Aran not as much, information i gleaned from watching ads from both of them on truckpaper.com. CH models in New England seem to be more expensive than ones further afield, although they are not as bad as R models, which seem significantly more expensive. Of course, they don't seem to stay advertised for long, so i suppose there must be some pent up demand or something. Actually, i am surprised that one of them hasn't started bringing trucks in from the south, like LA and MS where there seem to be a lot, and the ads hang around for a long time. I suppose that the market is not there, or someone would be doing it.
