  1. I remember reading that FTF trucks bought and refurbished older and ex military macks and sold a lot of them to the middle east.FTF trucks took over the Mack assembly plant and workforce in Holland when Mack pulled out. They went on to make their own designs with Detroit engines and Alison transmissions.FTF trucks were and still are held in high regard in Europe. They made some very special order trucks too. Paul
  2. Give my right dangle bit for one of them...nice DAF 2600 pulling them... Paul
  3. Yeah Joey. When all else fails retire to food and drink.Snow looks deep.... Paul
  4. OD loads is about all flats are used for now over here but yes tarping sure was part of the job.Not now though, I know some of the freight companys pulling out of the port where we are have to turn down or delay taking loads untill a driver who can rope/chain and tarp a load is available.Indeed I have been asked a good few times would I do some runs for them.Unfortunaly I cant as the company I work for would dismiss me on the spot if they found out.The reason is I would not have enough of a rest peroid to do my next turn of duty for them ......Sure would like to do some to keep my hand in practise..... Paul
  5. It was all ropes and dolly knots when I was doing it.If you "found" a strap or 2 you hid it and told no one🤣 1 thing that amazed me was how tight you could tie down a load with a half inch rope and dolly knots.... Paul
  6. Oh boy do I remember that so well. Drive 5/6 hours...spend 4/5 hours ropeing and tarping a load then 5/6 hours driving back. Its no wonder the Curtainsider took over.Open curtains, load, strap the load Close curtains. On the way back in 1/2 hours...... Paul
  7. Over here in Europe the flat trailer or flat body truck is almost a thing of the past.Curtinsider trailers/bodywork rule. From doing most work Id say flats are doing 5% of the work now.Drivers who can rope and tarp a load are very thin on the ground..... Paul
  8. Womans tennis...maybe but yeah no tennis for me.Dont watch much TV...much rather be working on the Cruiseliner.Bad weather here again but still polishing parts and fixing this roof liner....Mrs Cruiseliner asked me what Im going to do when its finnished....get another one I said.....Bit of silence but she didnt say no..... Paul
  9. Yes it is very easy to use.We have been restoreing this truck and had removed the entire fuel system from the truck including the fuel tanks right up to the lift pump to paint the frame. We fitted new filters and fuel lines. We did fill the filters with fresh fuel.we were advised it could be a bit of a nightmare to bleed as it had been sitting there for almost 6 months. After about 1 minute of hand priming the truck started first turn of the key.We think the the check valve helped a hell of a lot..... Paul
  10. Theres no number on the T piece except what can be seen in the picture. It is a one way valve.I spoke to the previous owner who toldme the hand primer was originally on the lift pump but it was difficult to operate so his mechanic made that set up.The one way valve makes it a lot easier to bleed the fuel system. This guy ran a few F 700s back in the day and this conversion was done on all of them too.The one way valve has standard Mack fuel pipe threads...The first picture shows the original position of the hand primer on top of the lift pump.Hope this helps you.... Paul
  11. Not off hand.I will be out at the truck tomorrow and I'll see if there is a number on it. Paul
  12. Nice Joey,Im very fond of Enchaladas....and jack cheese and sorry Other Dog I'll have your hot sauce too...... Paul
  13. This is the hand primer I replaced the one on the Cruiseliner with.Maybe it will help someone.Engine is an E6 300 with an american Bosch pump... Paul
  14. Yes the air doors work perfectly. The only thing that appears to be faulty is the control of the water tap.... Paul
  15. Nice weather Paul.We are rained out of it here.According to the weather people we have had 6 times the average rainfall for January...They say the polar air mass affecting the US has blocked a deep low pressure system centered just west of Ireland and spead up the jet stream collecting a massive amount of moist air and dumped it on us and the UK along with strong gale force winds. The country is flooded with main roads impassable and rail services suspended.Ferry services are also suspended Even large cargo ships are staying in port.Air traffic is operating but with delays.....Roll on the summer!!! Paul
  16. Thanks for your research on this Geoff. We would like to get the air con working if possible but a working heater may have to do.Im going to by pass the heater tap and if that works it will do for now while we look deeper in to this problem... Paul
  17. Thanks for the reply Geoff. While I do understand the basic operation of an A/C system Iv no hands on experence of them.I'll dig a bit deeper see what turns up...Its very interesting to get to work on one!!!! Paul
  18. Yes Iv had the engine up to working temp. There is no rad shutters on this truck.Theres no air going to the heater tap to operate it.We got a short break in the rain this morning so I went out to get some pictures.I removed the dash panel covering the air con unit.in the pictures you can see the lower lever to change from cold to hot is connected to a resistor which is then connected to an air/electrical switch. The two pipes on the right are connected to air pistons to operate the air direction flaps, the pipe on the left is the air supply and the upright pipe behind the wires is connected to the heater tap.It doesnt matter how the levers are set no air goes to the heater tap.Im thinking its the air/electrical switch or the resistor thats faulty. The air supply and air direction flaps work perfectly.Id appreciate anybodys opinion. Thanks Paul
  19. Thanks for the replys.I will post a picture of the heater A/C controls as soon as I can.As our summers are not that warm A/C has only become popular since the EU mandated it for all new vehicles in the last 15 years or so.As a result Iv not much experance with it so decided to ask before just tearing it apart.I will bypass that tap and see if it gives any heat. The electrical switch does power up one side of the fusebox when the key is turned on so I think your spot on with that Geoff. Thanks again for all the replys.... Paul
  20. Hi all,we are slowly getting things done but the weather is terrible over here, wind and rain non stop. The heater never worked since we got the truck so we fitted a new thermostat but still no heat.We dug a bit deeper and in the passenger footwell we found what we think is the tap.Its air operated and there is no air pressure getting to it no matter what position the hot/cold lever is mover to.We have nevet seen an air operated heater tap before so do any of you know how its supplied. It a Red Dot system. We also found what looks like some kind of electric switch and we would like to know what it controls.Any info would be helpful. Thanks Paul
  21. How about this for an interior? Its the sleeper cab roof liner out of the Cruiseliner. Its in a bad way.Im trying to put it together so we can make a mold to make a fiberglass one...I have to thank mrs Cruiseliner for allowing me to use her kitchen table to do the work on as the weather is real bad here... Paul
  22. Looks a hell of a trip Brocky.I cant open that Flicker thing. Its most lightly my own fault so I'll get my son to see what Im doing wrong. Thanks for shareing... Paul
