  1. As far as leaving the EGR COOLER in place, i guess i would want to remove it, so there is no air or coolant flow. Not sure about blocking it. I did work on one years ago, where someone made a plug to block the crossover EGR tube, and it was inside out of sight.
  2. JoeH,, i don't know.. i have never done that. I would think stripping all the ASET-CEGR bolt ons would have to go, and possibly a cam shaft change , maybe not. Yes the exhaust manifold is restrictive. An EECU and harness swap would probably work as well. Sorry. Ive done a lot of these rebuilds, but only used OE parts. Kinda wish I was able to try things, but my job was to put the money maker back in the road ASAP. mods come with trial and error... I say a full strip down then build an ASET-I would do it..
  3. Glad to see its a 3 pedal truck.. 👍
  4. I guess so.. im going to be 56, in late April.. 🍻
  5. I forget what country 2 lane road i was on in P.A. , may have been rt -309.. 1999... Schnieder and J.B. Hunt came around the same corner and hit head on... All of us that were held up by it watched it burn to the ground. The Hunt truck was carrying P&G products. It was the most colorful fire I had ever seen. The melted carcasses were brought to Penns Best yard near Mehoopany. May have been in Tuncanick. I think it was Penns best.. green day cabs..Mark T will know for sure and may have even seen the burned trucks. I believe the shop was on Rt. 6 going to Binghamton ... It would be cool if i got all this right. Its been a while..
  6. I bet none of this was completed, and the money is in Politician pockets. I know,,,, obvious statement..
  7. Cascade dish washer powder.. then flush with clean water.. i have a fitting that I hook to the air compressor so i can push flush water up to the surge tank. There are other ways, im sure..
  8. I forgot, what Mack engine are you running. There is a thermo housing you can get that accepts the filter pad.
  9. Yep. Im away from my library right now, so maybe he will study on it and see the difference between the set ups.. I dont want to dissrespect him, but i would stay with the current set up and swap parts in it. And JC made a point about fuel mileage after a gear swap as well. And Eaton Rears are everywhere, and in every salvage yard..
  10. Theres a 3 degree wedge under the u-bolt clamp plate on Mack rears that are air ride, and as im typing this, i am forgetting which axle... Sad time for me again.. I think its the rear, to compensate for suspension movement as it keeps and angle on the intermediate drive shaft for proper u-joint bearing rotation..
  11. Were you able to picture my tube thingy ? 🍻

    Hub oil seal

Good deal, some guys arent aware of the dowel pin and crush it..

    Hub oil seal

Gotcha. Good point, no need to down it. Are you familiar with the Voyager 2 piece front seal that has the thick metal ring that goes over the spindle ?
  14. And it can add a PH conditioners as well. I like coolant filters...
  15. Re gearing would do it. GW do you think 3.90:1 would do ? Theres a lot of DS 404+405's around. Of course i dont know the fine points of Eaton's model numbers.
  16. The black plastic duct coming from the right side can be diss connected from the HVAC box, and carefully pryed open about an inch. I made a cardboard tube the fits aver a shop vac hose, then flattened the end, sealed with duct tape, then cut a small opening an inch back on one of the flat sides , and used it to vacuum the coil.
  17. Is it a full mechanical injection pump? If so the reversing relay is on the intake manifold, and a line runs around the front to the bimber valve in the front end of the injection pump. It may have been removed .
  18. I would think you would need to buy an air ride back half and so the swap. If i remember right the 'Z' springs are different and the hangers and torque arms as well. Do you have an air ride truck to look at and take measurements ? I did a 96 CH-613 many years ago, but it was a Camelback truck.

    Hub oil seal

Are you having trouble getting one using the vin. ? Do you have an issue bigger than just a leaking seal ? Do you have it apart yet ? The seal number is on the inside if the seal. I expect it to be a Stemco Voyager series with the inner seal ring that has a dowel pin to isolate it.
  20. I dont recall a junction block, but theres 2 buss bars on the firewall near the steering shaft. 14 or 15 posts each. What has failed ?
  21. Well my E-7 Books start at 1994.. So here is what I have. The note about the part number change is from an E-7 overhaull book, the others are from the tune-up book. Jojo https://photos.app.goo.gl/cM312umDRyBaBFFx7
  22. I will post a link here in a minute
  23. Just for kicks, I went to my F.M.C.S.R. book from 2018. And to my surprise, it only says, no caps on bus steer axles. However, i was told that caps on any steer axle is illegal. Personally i wouldn't want caps on a steer axle, but its seems to be legal. The tire section is a short one. Its on Page 351,,, section: 393.75... I cant post pictures...
  24. Interesting post. So a capped steer tire would have been sold as a trailer tire, or an 'all position' tire ? I didnt know about weight limits for regrooved tires. I would assume Schneider Natl'. knew the ruling there... I drove cab overs for them from mid '98- late '99, and i saw them using an iron to trace out the grooves and sipes . I thought it was pretty neat at the time. I do see, 'regrooveable' cast in to the sidewall of some drive tires..
  25. My wife smokes American Spirit in the Blue box.. $11.82/pack at our corner store.. How?? Cigs aint worth $3/pack.
