  2. youre talking about the 'A' hole and the 'B' hole tool.. yep, got to have the lower timing cover off to do it. then you need 2 bars made by Volvo to press the cover back down in order to bolt it back in place properly... terrible... jojo

  13. 'FJH' Im about to learn something as well... Ive only built 3 of these MP's and done 6+ cam jobs.. and cup's, cup's cup's... I guess I missed the part about how to adjust the idler gear enough to account for a machined head. I too will sit back and watch.. One thing for sure.... I will not be building any of these in my shop.... I will stick to E-6, E-7, and E-tech's.... I have 2 in my shop now.. plus a 3cyl. John Deere diesel.. Jojo
  14. Leaking fuel anywhere.... is a place for air to get sucked in or let air in to let fuel drain back.... loosing "Prime" just sayin... jojo
  15. Mackey... too funny..... I am always scratching my head lately... I have to bring the slacks and air fittings and air valves and so on with me every time, because they have no clue what im looking for, and these parts were standard issue... Good luck getting what you need... jojo
  16. Well Jessica told me that a wheel end repair including a hub, rotor, pads, misc costs, and labor an be over $2000.00 / wheel end.. Been there fixed that.... While a 3600 drum and a set of 4707 QP shoe's is under $300.00... Jojo
  17. I think its time to knock the mountain down to a mole hill... keep on the regular maintenance, and you should be fine for a long time... and fresh filters each time you question it's operation... jojo
  18. Lots of good info here... also check the condition of the wires and terminals in the round duetch plug on the governor housing.. you did say '97 right?? jojo
  19. May I suggest running these valves the Mack way and not the 'Cat' way.. I never stray from the Mack way and my valves are right and quiet... with respect, Jojo
  20. Thanks Mark. I was trying to help him with this, and wasnt sure if the small bolt had a small set of threads inside to cage the fork, like the older Eatons did for the power divider.. I think the leak is an o-ring and/or cracked piston.. Jojo
  21. very good.. I need to go back to bed.. I couldnt sleep so i came here... now im sleepy again. I will check in later. jojo
  22. Yes sir I understand.. I guess, for me, I would go for it because I have had many of these rears apart, just not one with diff locks in a long time. but the inner workings are pretty standard.. I dont feel like im helping much... sorry.... jojo
  23. The front diff. system may just be a power divider lock. It would be going into the input housing..
  24. ok. I understand.. I guess I threw out a few old ideas I had. Yes Meritor is right.. I know I said eaton, but I looked at the picture again, I know that I do not have a Meritor rear end book.. Here in the last month, I bought 3 Mack books from E-bay.. There is a bunch of guys on here from youre part of the world, who are very smart, maybe one of them is familiar with the Austrailian version.. jojo
  25. When you say it locks up while running.... I'd be surprised if it didn't bend a connecting rod, because it sounds like there is an excessive amount fluid entering a cylinder, ie: fuel, coolant, oil... does it smoke bad when it runs? Is the oil level rising? is the coolant level dropping? My first thought would be a bad injector that is over fueling a cylinder. do you have any active or inactive fault codes? You really need to stop running this engine before major damage occurs. Hopefully it is not hurt too bad now.. do you have a bore scope that you can run into the intake manifold to see if there is a really wet intake port? Is there fluid leaking from the exhaust starting and the manifold, turbo, and any clamps before it gets to the DPF? I'm sorry about all of these questions. More info will be here shortly.... jojo
