  1. it will take time to "learn" the ole girl. if you are at walking speed coming to the corner with down shifting , possibly the main is low enough just shift up or down on the aux stick. I drove (part-time) a DM 800 with quad. there was one road having a short / steep hill which I couldn't get the right combo of gears for the longest time. fast as I could road up to it ;loaded quite heavy main lower/aux different spot = it took a long time.
  2. hose hanging down is an extension hose going to the throw out bearing for grease, depending on the maintenance schedule/ operation, i would take them off. history has found ; units with the hose and improper Maintenace program , the throw out bearing got sooo much grease(cause it's easy to get to) the grease spilled out to the clutch brake causing it to malfunction. if a "mechanic " had to reach up into bellhousing for greasing , less excess grease on clutch brake.
  3. wouldn't by chance know the third number in the B81 ? SX ?? . would distinguish verification of engine ; B-81SX/ B-813SX/ B-815(V-8 eng)it could have non-turbo cummins . going with idea it's a Mack with mack power, 250hp???
  4. for me this topic is a great addition to the forum. I know there are truck model sites ,this being on here keeps with the Mack as headliner. HD rain in CT ; spent time yesterday reading old post ; which surprisingly go back to 2013.
  5. it's obvious NOTHING is checked out before put to public. every day news shows more recalls; baby seats, cars (big recall numbers there) . for an old man like myself had to laugh at news other day. all the new 15 phones are burning peoples hands they are getting so hot. quality control is no longer there. technology moving tooo fast ;; have to get the CEO's their bonus checks. 30 gran for cummin/allison up grade is sick/sad. darn the entire truck didn't cost that much a few yrs back! OK quite a few yrs back.
  6. how do the controls operate when machine is OFF ? are they smooth or can you feel uneasy movement possibly attributed to pivot pins in linkage sticking ? I had a IH 260A ,neighbor had a case 580 ; can't recall lever set up on his. whether levers go directly into pump control or had pin connecting linkage. doubt the boom pins can be lacking grease and sticking. with a full bucket of material for weight , how does the operation seem?
  7. the statement " as deck extends the landing gear is slowly raised" doesn't mean the landing gear comes off the ground, by raising the landing gear ; hyd pressure in cylinders lowers allowing the deck to tilt .
  8. correct in operation ideas; study the pictures very closely (I have numerous times). the rear "landing gear" attaches to the bed /deck rails at 4 points =2 each side :: 2 on inside of rails ; two on outside. the landing gear is lowered first ; for stability also control of bed/deck tilt . gear down, extend deck; as deck extends the landing gear is slowly raised, thus allowing the deck to tilt at controlled rate. sure hope I'm right =will be in heap of doo doo with owner for miss instructions. LOL
  9. but then all law abiding citizens shouldn't have to hide from the law and I don't think a non- abiding individual would be that dumb to steal that color truck == so on the bright side (be sides the color) owning that greeny should be safe. just sayin.
  10. "does look good" is more then modest , to see it at a show would defiantly be 110 % positive. to be one of the many lucky ones on this forum to have watched this unit go from found in the woods to the "mona Lisa " of the trucking world === no words . mind boggling the end results . pin striping will be like a female Appling make up; you want it to be classy - not trashy. challenge will be , if you go gold leaf with all the red, don't want it to be considered a fire truck( NOT THAT THERE IS ANTY THING WRONG WITH FIRE TRUCKS !!). this work of art is in a class of it's own.
  11. the L something with exhaust through the hood may have been an LM =offset cab usually used for HD service (winch etc).
  12. have seen side dumps ; can't say I've ever seen a rotating dump. looks same as excavator turn table under dump body. municipality's and government contractors are always good at coming up with weird ideas.
  13. difficult to see in picture - must be a brown /wrap dash and dry air cleaner. more pictures always help== interior/ open hood engine pictures
  14. is there still a shift pattern on the dash .one stick or two?
  15. quick look at picture you have a DM600. tag on drivers door or right frame rail by steer tire will have model/serial number.
  16. picture up dates??? deck installed ; or work taken priority ?? one deck picture shows looks to be lever left front?? hyd control for slide ??? under side picture appears to have graded mesh in two front corners ?== spot for chains and binders replacing tool box under side ??
  17. push both buttons at same time gave you 4-way flashers. top button push released 4-ways. in front of top button was lighted indicators ==green left/right -red in middle.
  18. twin sticks on floor don't seem it is an auto.
  19. now be careful on that 50 yrs ago;;; LOL=== they were new in my day --=- LMAO.
  20. it IS the turn signal box. apparently the original on dash bit the dust and an updated signal stat was installed. fortunately they left the dash box signal switch for someone wanting originality. my grandson sent me this ad also. seems it stated auto transmission.
  21. I'm probably out in left field on this one but with all the talk of generators/ alternators / rectifiers, grounds being a possible situation creator; I haven't seen a mention of :: did anyone check the batteries INDIVIDUALLY (load test ) ;;OR do a cell test (hydrometer ???) checking to see if a bad cell is causing a generator/alternator to over charge thinking system low ??? lets get this thing rectified soon for sake of a firetruck.
  22. memories of the fun days. we didn't pay to go to a gym. it was summer time in the hay fields. this must be the younger generation picture== only one bale at a time AND wearing gloves. for us it was two bales ; one in each hand (100lb each bale ) NO gloves and race across the field to beat the others to the stack. LOL
  23. with todays kit building , it's easier to buy a number of kits for parts needed for special builds. I still have the book from A I M (Jim Etter) of yrs back which allowed the builder to basically buy every part needed for special builds. cabs, rails, engines, trans ,wheels etc. all parts were either resin or pewter. todays kits aren't 10.00- $12.00 anymore . have bought a whole kit just for the fuel tanks or frames. I CAN - retired. I don't spend it the kids think it's theirs LOL.
  24. first gear did make a number of 1/25th scale trucks= Mack and others. the Red mack tractor 1/25 scale is detailed . mine had a couple of unfortunate "accidents" while being boxed during trip to TN and back to over tax CT. it's in need of shop repair and new parts ( front wheel etc).
