  1. Richards hyd canvas ?? any real benefit to the hyd rear gate?? bet that's the next one for company red/white paint job
  2. sure would be nice if they were; would mean many others possibly would also be around. many yrs back I was there and looked at their LM off set cab unit.
  3. another reason trucks like the naug municipal dump burned by teens in CT has nothing left to it ;; all plastic crap.
  4. getting to topic; hopefully Connecticut construction trucks will get some new added pictures of days gone by. I frequently go back to page one and start over. so many positive memories. who would have known you should have carried a camera . possibly the only time I would have used a cell phone . the long list of trucks that ran these CT roads never getting their picture taken.
  5. are you saying the manifold isn't just an alum block with multi threaded ports having removable fittings/lines any more ??one goes bad ; cut the line close remove fitting / install new fitting then push in plastic line ??
  6. well in a world of technicality ;; you DID NOT specify the fact the brake handle was disconnected and only there to fill the hole in floor!! Gee what's this world coming toooo .LOL and wrong again ::only ONE of the tubs was a Mack; other two off brand. had to have one reliable craft to support other two.
  7. NOW there are some sick puppies on here;; AND I'M GLAD . I make sure to write entire word transmission so as NOT to write normally trans and confuse some of the "demented " minds here (myself included )LOL . now added to the list of complete communications is DETROIT DEISEL not DD which I'm all in favor of also LMAO.
  8. Boy don't I know ;; before mid'60's = by then I was closing in on teen yrs, mother got my attention == was called wooden hangers over my back. today that's called child abuse. to get kids attention today ; they are bought a new cell phone.
  9. better hide that from wife ; even though think she voted for him !! . matzo ball soup not that bad tastin. LOL
  10. I go with cab suspension also , never saw that style. air compressor out back of cab easy answer, it has a DD for power. compressors were mounted on back of DD running off rear aux drive. behind compressor can see a cartridge fuel filter housing also. would be some what unusual if the truck had a demo DD on back yet powered by a Mack/ Cummins power.
  11. heard that on news . they were kids too ! how has a society gone so wrong , this is considered fun ? it's only couple towns away from our renting. never locked our doors - now everything is locked even when we are inside. throwing eggs at a car in our day was thought of as fun; can't today 1-eggs cost too much =2- it's vandalism ;; still not burning a 200 K vehicle.
  12. enlarged the picture of green COE with DD on back looking at the step assist on front wheel. question now is;; what / why the small multi leave spring on frame behind front wheel??? not cab lift assembly ??
  13. now that must be one heck of a great gathering. thanks for pictures. the "down under " trucks seem so different and unique from US versions.
  14. automatic topic going to brake cans !!! it's a group effort going off topic this time ;; didn't do it on my own.
  15. having both , seems to me someone "upgraded" parking brake system. does the DM have actual maxi cans or can on inside frame with cross shaft through frame with long rod going to brake can ? a system used due to clearance issues and/or before one can did both service and parking brake as known today. the Santa Maria had the one can parking brake -updated;; the nina had the older style parking brake == (that's for you Jojo)== LMAO
  16. keep one major thought in mind == you state your a newbie at HD truck repair!! do you think all of us just graduated grammar school and became "Master truck mechanics ??? WE ALL ARE /// WERE NEWBIES AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER!!! 50 plus years of wrench pushing and following these forums puts me not even a newbie = I'm in "kindergarten and still learning. can't say I want to learn all I read here though. give me old school mechanical over this electronic crap any day.to get back on original topic -- how's the hydraulics working??
  17. have seen a "tube" of goop/blue glue on only one wheel also!! then find a wheel that the wrong silicone glue was used and the glue was NOT compatible to gear oil. big ring of snot rolling around axle inside tube. had the fancy pliers made for the cones removal; worked some times most not. don't forget the axle soo stuck on the hub you get carried away with the 20 lb sledge (and pissed) low and be hold there goes a stud or two smashed. not to say I never hit a stud to the point I welded a 5/8th die to a large nut which fit a socket !!😱 a good can of brake clean spraying the cones has at times helped the glue shrivel making cone removal easier.be very careful of brake clean messing up nice polished alum wheel though.
  18. unsure at this age ; I thought the cone axles always had gaskets? neverseize was used on the cones by me==light film. . don't recall goop and neverseize on same axle which would indicate a gasket was there. hub studs kept gasket in place -if needed a small amount of sealant on hub to gasket area .
  19. in the day, we use to take 100 lb bales =1 in each hand then run across the hay field. today the grandson pays big money going to a gym. DM611 T first quad I ever drove. think the rest of mechs were standing outside the shop laughing as I attempted to shift going down road.
  20. gaskets of days gone by ; like many applications are replaced by "goop". hopefully you did put some type of sealant on axle/hub. with goop sealant the tightening process need more care. reasonable layer of goop then evenly tighten bolts . air gun and super torque uneven may thin out the goop in one area resulting in leak.
  21. that explains things better. . couldn't find torque. in todays world of high tech EVERY fastener has a recommended torque. simple fact is most are unnecessary;; common sense takes priority. axle flange nuts (5/8 fine thread --15/16 socket ). with gasket or without ?? even torque with air gun in staggered opposite location around hub.
  22. making a repair to squeaking window VS going in for rebuild/ paint is little different. to make easy roll less noise a can of lube having a plastic extension on nozzle works wonders. roll window up stick spray extension between window and door channel then spray area which the crank mechanism is approximately located along with side channels . too much spray you have a mess and grease rolls out bottom= paint won't stick. window up puts less grease on glass also mechanism near top . reality it's better to remove complete window panel and do it right under your situation of owning and painting truck.
  23. for once I didn't go off topic ==PLEASE NOTE for the record. author did !!🤣
  24. possibly you can't find a torque number based on there might not be one written in "stone". I never torque a wheel hub nut. it was more based on feel (experience )? had one ole martin flat bed (grease bearings) which took a while to figure. inner nut brought to "spec" the bearing way too tight after install/ tightening outer nut. the inner nut had to be so loose , wheel set wobbled. install outer nut and tighten ; wheel set perfect. oil or grease bearings make a difference. bearings are lubed / center hub filled to max without making a mess light lube on seal -depending on seal type. C/R seals spin within themselves , I always put small amount of oil on the two mating parts of seal and manually spin the seal before install. ; install outer bearing and all nuts/ locks = bring to a reasonable tight then spin the wheel based on wheel set was on a wheel dolly not just hub. if the wheel stops spinning and rolls back - it's a tad to loose. stops to sudden = it's too tight.
  25. wait till you get old the biggest challenge is having high hopes of :: the stem hitting the target before you both fall a sleep!! LOL
