  1. It was in there a while, but the longest if ever sat without running was close to a year. Usually no more than a cpl months. Had No water in it.
  2. I wouldn't use an old filter. I did that with a years old N.O.S Mack fuel filter a local Mack service shop gave me, fell apart when it got wet!
  3. My old boss had a freshly rebuilt high dollar 427 side oiler lock up from a failed Wix filter...
  4. Not abused, and was well maintained. As I've learned owning a lot of old iron over the years, sometimes "S" just happens...Not sure what brand components were used. I do know it had a full rebuild kit at the time.
  5. It was rebuilt 20? years ago and used to move equipment around, mainly a D6D. Didn't haul everyday, just to and from job sites and moves for other people here and there. I don't have an exact figure on the miles but not a real high amount.
  6. 15/17 hot @ idle. I changed the oil with 30W and a gallon of Lucas. Let her run at a high idle for a bit and the vibration(really feel it in the steering wheel/cab)just about went away. After it got hot from a little driving the vibration is there but not as bad as with the old oil. I was told by an old time Mack mechanic the worn mains cause that.
  7. Swift, public executions for people like this. Simple as that, it's the one thing many third world countries got right...
  8. I'm the third owner, friend of mine bought it from the original owner in the "70's and owned it over 30 years. Like I said earlier the engine has never been out and was rebuilt once. It ''should" have the narrow bearings in that case. Are those available?
  9. I can't imagine those plastic fantastic turds surviving long in OZ...
  10. If they changed to a wider bearing in the mid "80's, there's no way my 1960 would have the newer version. Engine has never been out of the truck and rebuilt once.
  11. I was told the rod bearings changed in "85, I assume they went bigger then.
  12. Pretty sure it has not been turned. I'll be calling my friend who did the engine over years ago, hope he knows. It runs SO good otherwise...
  13. Are both styles available? Any way to tell what my 1960 takes without pulling it apart?
  14. My 673(non turbo 170HP)has always run great, but has had low oil pressure and a vibration. After the oil change(Lucas/30W)the pressure is a little better and the vibration is much less. Would like to do rods/mains. The few places I've checked list all bearings being the same for 672-711, and some have certain older years listed alone. Would these Clevites be good to go? http://www.agkits.com/mackend672673675676707711mainbearingset.aspx#.VfmbGvlViko http://www.agkits.com/macke66736756766777077112valveconnectingrodbearingsoe.aspx#.VfmbQvlViko
  15. You probably can't imagine life without that rollback after using it so much! Town officials must have cried the first time they saw it
  16. I had a Dodge with a 361,super clean one owner that ran like a Rolex. Just idling around it drank like an elephant
  17. I knew a guy with a single axle R dump with a 413. Swore up and down it got nearly 10mpg, he was trying to sell it at the time
  18. Need an oil pan sump drain plug for my 1960 673. Anybody know what size it is?
  19. Decent looking truck, how much? And please, lay of the fluid...
  20. LOL, I knew there had to be some kind of "trick" going on when I read the title. Hope it's reliable for the kid
  21. They made 455 of those, and 77 of the standard "81" style B85's.
