  1. Thanks everybody for the input. I get the gist it's a no brainer to go ahead and give caps a try. Thanks again.
  2. Anybody have any opinions with recaps done by Michelin. We have always put virgins on and have been hearing about how good the michelin caps are. Looking at the massive cost difference between caps and virgins, seems like its worth trying. We run local, running no more than 245 miles total a day all highway driving. We monitor air pressure and tire wear regularly. If we go this route we will go with the xdn2 design which also seems to wear good. Any thoughts on this? Thanks
  3. When did Mack start using the stainless steel injector seats?(i guess this is what Mack calls them). We have a 08 that had fuel leaking back and not starting right away when it had 49,000 on and thought they put the stainless ones in then. We started having this same problem this week at 278,000 miles and come to find out the old copper style was used the last time this was done. Was just wondering when Mack started using the stainless steel ones?
  4. mr mack cranks and cranks before starting. Only does it if it sits for a long period of time. Has the two spin on filters (not the davco).
  5. I'm not taking up for volvo, but I think this question of Is Volvo Good Or Bad For Mack Trucks? can be answered by a first grader. You look at older post of how Mack lost this customer and that customer because of problems with the engines in 04 and 05 and so on. Now you look at post of how Mack has won back this customer and that customer over the last 5 years because of the reliable MP engine. People complain that "your not getting a full Mack truck anymore" well maybe and maybe not, but whats the difference if you have a Mack with vendor rears and trans or a KW with the same vendor rears and trans? At least you have the option with Mack to get the Mack rears and trans. As far as prices going up for parts, thats everywhere. If Mack today wasn't involved with Volvo, the prices of parts would still be more than what they were 10 years ago. I hear of guys complaining all the time about there cummins always in the shop and maxxforce is job security at the navistar dealer ship. Even thought Volvo has there hands in Mack, its still a great truck and dependable engine.
  6. blows white/blue smoke..maybe gray at times. runs rough and has a "fuel knock" no lightening bolt while the truck is acting up. does this sound like a split injector? also the oil is up about 1 inch above full mark on dip stick, could a injector be pissing and fuel is leaking down past rings?
  7. Was wondering if anybody has one or knows of one forsale. Would like to fine one in good shape and likely a set back axle.
  8. Talk to alot of guys that run new cummins. They say there ok, but a tech at a brand X truck garage swears up and down and hates to say it, but believes Mack has the best package going on right now. Which it's kind of obvious when you see customers that left Mack a few years ago b/c of the problems, now come back to Mack since the MP engine is performing well.
  9. Was at the Mack dealer today and seen 6 more baby blue Macks for Martins Pastry. Was told by the parts guy that there is another 6 on the way. Martins bought 12 new ones a few months ago and now another 12. They said that the drivers love the MDrive
  10. 8-4 code keeps showing for number 4 unit pump. Are these as easy as unhooking the fuel lines, unbolting and putting a new one back in?
  11. Very nice CHU. From the way I read it this is Mackpro68's "friends" truck. Mackpro68 didn't actually order it, he just knows it's a 505 but not sure of the version.
  12. Seen what im pretty sure was a K L Harring axle forward Pinnacle Rawhide the other day. They are out of Bethel Pa and run KW's. Has anyone else seen the mack or know for sure they bought one?
  13. Heard from a friend that Quality Carriers / F T Silfies was maybe having some new Macks on the line. Have you seen any or know of any in the near future?
  14. Remember Mack on tv tonight on the travel channel at 8
  15. The key switch gets a hot post when i turn it to the start position. I trace that wire to where it goes into a four prong female plug that has a relay that plugs into it. I have power into this when turning the switch to the start position, but when i test the other 3 wires that are hooked to this relay i get now power. Not sure what this relay is or why theres no power that comes back out of it, but i put another relay on and still the same problem.
  16. This truck will not start with the key switch. You can jump across at the starter/solenoid and it starts. With the key switch in the "start" position I have no power down to the solenoid thats mounted between the cab and the bracket that holds the air filter element. The only power at this solenoid is the big wire that comes from the starter. Is there something simple im missing? With it being an automatic is there something that would not register its in neutral and not let it start?
  17. 2004 mack vision w/460 287.000 miles. Bottom radiator tank needs filled every 400 miles. Looses power getting up to speed. Checked egr cooler and its dry on inside. Any suggestions? thanks
  18. Whats the difference between the two? We have an AC engine in a 04 cx613 and have had our share of problems.
  19. What I am referring to as an "exhaust line" is the line that is installed on a air valve that air "exhaust" out of. Exampe: susp. leveling valve has a short plastic line that just hangs there and hooks to nothing that air exhaust out of it. I have a line ontop transmission "exhausting" air off. Can't really tell were the plastic line goes to.
  20. Untop transmission there is air leaking from an exhaust tube. When I hold my finger over end of tube to block air, the selector changes. Of coarse when I let off the tube the selector changes back. Whats causing this, and what needs to be done to fix? thanks
  21. Not sure if any of my problems lay in line of the "hot natured 370" post, but our RD has a TMR feed mixer mounted on it. We've been having problems with it getting hot while sitting still at full rpm mixing feed. Driving down the road it stays in the normal range. The mal. light comes on along with the shut down after awhile. Blink code is 4-2, but our fan clutch is engaged the whole time mixing. Replaced thermostat and still have same issue. In the winter it worked fine, now that its hot out, we are haveing this problem. Looking for things to look for? thank you
  22. This truck has two seperate problems. First is the water temp will only run at 150-160 all day. The fan kicks on countless times. Could this be a stuck therostat or a fan clutch issue? If so, will it hurt to run it for another day till it gets fixed? The second is the brake lights are stuck on. The foot valve is not stuck. Cleaned that up today and lubed the trettle. The brake lights go out once the key switch is off. Any help and suggestions are welcome. Thanks
