  8. If the shift rods are broken and you have all the parts a decent welding shop or machine shop should be able to repair it or make a new one some times they bind up from lack of lubrication and forcing a shift will bend the rod so they cant shift. If you want to paint the diamond plate and it is rusty you can use a scotch bride type of pad on a 4" grinder or even a smaller roloc pad on a die grinder . they also have a spot sand blaster that is self contained and it also works well
  9. If you are polishing chromed diamond plate break out the brown tripoli and start buffing with a machine and s stiff wheel ,finish with a finer compound red or white and a softer wheel. If it is not chromed paint it silver or use one of the chrome paints
  10. I wonder what it was used for that short bed makes it look like it was once a tractor ,but it sure looks nice and clean inside , wish you all the best. I used to drive a 688 long wheel base with a tag axle and a crane on it ,used to pull pup about ever other day, truck road like a caddy. never spilled my coffee even when I left it on the deck .
  11. Was the train in Ohio like just an engine and it went thur several dozen crossings before any one noticed there was no one in the cab ,but the police were able to board it as it was traveling slow compared to the unstoppable movie .
  12. A train engineer lives it down by learning to say these simple words"WOULD YOU LIKE FRIES WITH THAT ".
  13. This is the wrong season but if you are here is the summer try to come on a weekend when the Rough and Tumble steam museum is open , is on US 30 west of Phila. The Aug. reunion is one of the best ,good food and plenty of old operating machines from lawn mowers to 450 hp pumping engines and steam shovels and a few old mack trucks. http://www.roughandtumble.org/

  22. Until this post I kinda figured Musk was about one snort short of rehab because of some of his crazy posts . But I kind of feel the same way now , bridges fall down because the engineers let the computers do the work, and what about banking ,the computer there could wipe out the worlds wealth in a nano second . And what about all the security breachs of different information companies ,is it really the Russians or is it just a couple of computers wanting information .
  23. Yes Hat city I grew up in Danbury , kiddies shows at the empress on Sat. 25 cents ,riding my bike to candlewood to swim in the summer Barchi's hot dog stand on the corner, Ice skating at Rogers park ,Memorial day parades and fireman's carnival , free pass to the Danbury Fair
  24. I Know the place well Palace theater and the Empress, on Maim st and they were the Martha apartments over the Palace . don't know the year , It could have been a paid engine but in my memory only one Volunteer house had a mack and that was in the fifties . lot of old Segrave that were replaced with ford Cab engines in early 60's . I would like to learn more about that picture. In that time frame Danbury probably only had one or two paid engines and a ladder trucks the rest were volunteer houses maned by workers from the hat shops (which were wood framed and burned like a roman candle ,Mallory{now Stetson had the only concrete building } and is the only one left all the rest burned to the ground in 50's and 60's )
  25. Back in my much younger day there were 4 of coming back from New York state to Conn.had a belly full of the demons brew . when we came around a bend and there dead ahead was a F%#@king Holstein cow all thousand pounds of her , we were all screaming like girls that night , but the driver missed it ,and we could never figure out how ,because he was the biggest non driver amoung us. I think he just closed his eyes and screamed the loudest
