  1. its a wonderfull thing to happen isnt it! :) cold motor, no oil pressure, the last time mine did this it split a core plug in the head, havnt fixed it yet as I have to pop a head off each side. mine still doesnt have an accelerator pedal hooked up so if I forget to lock the linkage down it revs very high.

  2. Chewey,

I got a wood wheel for my 2000 CX from a chrome shop in upstate NY years ago. The name of the shop is D.J. Smith Truckers Chrome, inside the Petro truck stop in Waterloo, NY. (315)539-4108. The owner has several Macks so he always is helpful to Mack owners.

I also have the box my wheel was shipped in. Originally came from a company called "Vehicle Improvement Products" located in Antioch, Illinois. (847)395-7250. These phone numbers are a few years old, hope the info is helpful.

Make sure you get a wheel with an extended collar to give clearance to the turn signal switch. The first one I got had to be returned; it was so close to the switch I couldn't click the headlamp dimmer. D.J. Smith was able to exchange it for the extended wheel. 8 years old now still looks good. Good quality wheel.

  3. Has anybody ever weighed a fully dressed "R", or "B" series cab? I don't want to overbuild an elevating universal cab stand.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Hi, I wouldnt think heavy 600kilos, if you make it with stand 1000kilos you would be well engineered for it.

  4. Thanks Steve.. all a work in progress.

The set up was not real hard to fab up but welding the new bracket under the cab was a PITA. I did not have room for frame mount muffler brace as the fuel tanks sit to close to the rail and the strap is right where I would need to mount it on the rail.

Hi, neat truck, you dont know where I can get some of those rs700l badges? Mack here cant get any.

  5. Well, more updates this weekend.

Got the tin work started on the bunk:

    SDC10845.jpg

Had to make a hole in the middle so I would be able to get inside and mark for small opening. My work area is too narrow to open side doors on bunk

    SDC10847.jpg

Ready to drill for more rivets

    SDC10848.jpg

Got the stack brackets clearanced to fit around bunk mounts

    SDC10846.jpg

Then got things painted up under bunk area. I need to get some silicone to seal up the new skin on bunk and then rivet it up tight. After that it's ready for "final assembly". Wow.....never thought I'd say that LOL!! Still plenty of work, but the next big step will be done.

Hi, neat job. I gotta do mine yet, been avoiding it.

  6. I'm going to take that advice myself. Got two of em that I want to grind the valves and replace the seals at a minimum.

    Rob

Hi, thankyou for the advice. I cant get a full set of head gaskets tho. only pulling 2 heads.

    core plugs arrive tomorrow.

  7. Hello All, hope all is well. been busy driving, an putting Mack together, got to actually start it an crawl it around the car park the other day, still no accelerator. then it springs a leak from a core plug. who in there right mind puts non stainless core plugs in between the 2 cyl heads?? now I gotta rip 2 heads off an engine that you cant buy parts for to replace all plugs. I was lucky enough to locate 3 head gaskets, so is there anything I should look out for when pulling this down?

  8. Been hard at work lately. Got some major steps done on the truck.

Got driveshafts made last week and installed, brownie is fully bolted in, air lines done, electric is all new to the back. Few loose ends to finish, but truck is basically drivable.

Last Friday was it's maiden voyage out of the garage. Had to roll it out(manually) so I could install the axles as my walls are too narrow for me to put them in while in the garage.

    SDC10771.jpg

Sunday I was able to jump start the bobcat and get the bunk set up on the frame. My pickup didn't have enough "umph", so I had to get the Mack out and use it instead.

    SDC10773.jpg

Now that the bunk is on, I started to dismantle the boot and got the rear window out of the truck. Once I get all the boot stuff out of the way I'll slide the bunk up and see what it's going to take to mate them up. I know I'm going to lower the opening in the bunk and likely curve it to match the top of back window in truck. Then go down from there, likely about 1/2 way down back wall(to where the ribs are on the outside). Time will tell, just going along and adjusting as need be.

The white on the truck(kinda appliance white) is close to the eggshell white of the bunk, but not quite. Likely leave it alone for now and worry about it once it gets warm out. Picture doesn't do it justice.

Looking good, a lot of work there.

  9. i got 1 and love it 91 mh all air ride v8 500 i wouldnt trade it for 10 peterbilts

there is more KW cabovers down here than any where else in the world I think, they are ok as a truck, limited room a little bumpy, but they are great for hard to get to spots, especially when backing a B Double (25ft A trailer an a 45ft B trailer) around a 90degree corner into a dock. I was told a while ago that the USA were going to be trialing B Doubles soon and Freightliner were doing a new cab over for the trials over there, I could never find any more info tho.

  10. whinge whinge whinge if ya aint gunna buy it dont.............who cares. i wish you could buy a superdog in austrailia for 9000 us ohhh thats right our dollar is as high as yours.............snap it up man 9000 is cheap.

yep I second this. snap it up before it ends up down here. its cheap, its a mack e9, its only been sitting 2 years, mine sat for 15 and i drove them home. go get it.

it will be all ways worth 8 or 9k up there but atleast if you go get it and park it up with yours you can then make a better decision on keeping her or selling her later on.

  11. Nice find! its a real shame when you come across someone like that! one persons "junk" is another persons treasure! when i still lived in NJ,i tried for YEARS to buy a car that sat out behind a barn (1969 olds 442,425,4 speed in triple black)" no,no its lot for sale","he's gonna fix it up" after the owner died, new people bought the property,i inquired once more, but by then it was too far gone to be saved! real shame, because had i restored this particular car,in todays market it would have put my son through college!...........Mark

Hi, down here has same problem and there known as 2 words one starts with F and second one starts with W!

  12. i went for keeping it all original. its basically the only way i could restore it with my limited knowledge. that is to tear it down, refurbish, and put it back together the same way i found it.

blakeslee is in the extreme northwest corner of ohio. 4 miles from indiana, and 11 miles from michigan.

i have a lot of pics, as that is the only way i stood a chance of getting it back together. i know i had to refer back to my laptop many times. and i still end up redoin things twice for forgetting a step and having to take stuff back apart. :pat:

    Thats a neat engine bay.

  13. Hey AJ.

Makes me wish I were further along on mine. Keep up tha good work. Like ducky said take it slow and easy. Those copper air lines look really good. Take more pictures as you go.

    Thx

    mike

p,s. Where is Blakesly, Ohio ?

all in time, it all has a procedure and you cant do this before that, then you cant do that before you do something else and some days you will probably go out there and just look at it like a stale bottle of piss wondering what to do :)

I have been on mine since feb 2008 and it has gone from a driving truck to stripped and back together again. have spent over 50K and havent rebuilt the motor, box an diffs!
