  2. Hello, the 44s I think handle it ok?? think? the aircleaners it may get, western Star do sa neat, simple airbag system, I may look at it later down the track.

was mainly concerned with chassis differances, I have a double rail chassis, but was there sa differance with, say how many cross braces there are, or chassis material?

you should pop some of those air cleaners on yours? :D

  3. Hello, thankyou for the reply, I am putting the 375 in the flintstone along with the diffs from the FR700, was looking for an 18speed to go int there to

I rang the tech section today, and got a link to www.trivedi.com.au he has been helpfull also. I am a fair way off completion, as I am still pulling down the poor rusty FR but was curious on the chassis, as I am splitting the chassis also, so if I had to do any mods, this would be the time to do it.

  4. How is a truck rated exactly? i have a r600 with a 260 and 18 speed qaud box an 44s an its rated to 70ton

    the fr700 i have is a 375 v8 with a 12speed and 44s an its rated to 90 ton

is the chassis rated aswell? or is it just the running gear that rates it? the r600 chassis is a twin chassis.

    any info would be great

it makes people jump thats for sure! :D i did look at a portable compressor today that looked like it would charge the air system pretty quickly, it was around 600 buck but probly worth it if in the middle of no where.

  6. Here in Australia horsepower is usually around 550-600 hp, especially here on the west coast, our company pulls triples up north and has 1 kw, 1 freight liner and 610 volvos. the KW an FL both have 550hp and they leave the Volvos for dead. the Volvos have no guts, they hit a hill and you loose count of how many gears you have to go back to get up them.

the volvo feels like your sitting in a boat on the ocean, you get out feeling sea sick! they are allways in the Doctors getting fixed due to some silly problem, sensor faulty, air bag system failed, gear lever lost gears.

the vovlo is nice to drive, its quiet on the road, but are you going to make it there an back with out a problem? maybe.

from my understanding Mack got a bull dog from brittish soldiers in WW2, known to go like a bull dog and never stop!

volvo should keep volvo to itself and leave the bull dog alone before it turns into a puppy!

  7. I have had a GTE45 foot trailer do that! more than once, it wont release brakes and just dumps its air, i have re\leased the maxis by hand and come down greenmount hill at 62 ton twice ewith no brakes on the B trailer cause of it. the thing has spent countless hours at the work shop trying to determine the problem. it turned out been a maxi up to mischef.

when your 13hours from home the choice was simple, loose the brakes and think ahead when stopping.

this same trailer has also broken an axle twice, and second time it all most flipped the trailer.
