  1. Since you are starting with a clean sheet of paper so to speak. It all boils down to what kind of an operator you are. It wouldn't matter to some, as long as the arrangement didn't compromise the CD changer or the CB radio. I would mount them the same way that you do in your race car. With an uninterrupted clear line of sight to the most important. OIL pressure, water temp, and EGT, and I would probably clock them to read the desired results at 12 O'Clock. I would mount the rest of them the same and conveniently as possible. Someone else getting in your truck might think you were drunk when you installed them. But, you could read them all at a glance, without really looking at them. I have never had a fuel guage that lasted much longer than the warranty, so any place you can find to lay your stick would work. LOL

Hello, true, but its actually more difficult than i thought. i know where there going, but the order is quite hard. what would they have been factory, what did they come out with factory? will have a stick, but it wont be to check the fuel! for 3300bucks it better work :)

  2. My dash gauges arrived today, all 3300.00 dollars worth. what gauges would you put where??

    speedo........factory spot

    tacho..........factory spot

the other gauges I am fitting are

    engine temp

    trans temp

    exhaust temp

    engine oil pressure

    fuel pressure

    air pressure

    fuel level

    volts

    turbo boost

I am fitting these in the panel next to the speedo/tacho, but what would be the best order to put them in? they will be in rows of 3

speedo and tacho are round 3-3/8 all other gauges are round 2-1/16

    any suggestions?

  3. I have began to see signs that some of the California guys are selling off some really nice older Pete's. It won't be long until they can't use them anyway. California is considering raising the weight limits for agriculture to 96,000 lbs. The thinking is that they can reduce emissions by using fewer trucks. Wonder how long it will take to figure out that you can"t stop the suckers. You could get around like that fine, so could I. but the simple fact is that everybody can't. In today's business climate it is hard for me to understand why anyone would want a truck. Shipping from the states would probably preclude buying a bunk here. I have no doubt that you could buy a whole dang truck for $4500. I have a dandy 40 in. sit in I would give you if you lived a little closer. After looking your project over, I'll have to start looking for another RS700 to put it on. I can tell you now though, that I am not putting the steering wheel on the same side that you did.

Hello, you should be fine with the steering wheel on the correct side! it will only make it difficult to overtake there! :)

bigger trucks is the go! we have B double running around the citys all the time, they are 85 feet long in every state except WA where they are 90 feet long and are 138,000lbs we get through traffic easy enuf, and we also run Double road trains out of Kewdale a suburb of Perth, they are around 180,000 lbs and 118 feet long once the traffic gets used to them and understands what is needed they are fine on the road. I am amazed that the USA doesnt atleast run B doubles. your road sytem is well set up and the lanes are big enuf to handle them and you will move much more frieght and have less trucks on the road.

  4. Looks plent stiff enough to do the job. The angular placement of the brace concerns me as far as interferance/clearance issues. Although a bit more work, I would have probably used gussets in each of the four corner leaving the center of the space open. I'm certain you evaluated that in your design stages.

Is that a bit of rust in the floor sill on the driver's side, (right) that needs repaired?

Hell of a weldment you've got going there mate. Should work real well for you.

    Rob

Hello, no rust in cab at all, it has many holes in floor. the old gear lever location is in front of centre triangle, but i am putting another floor in so it will have origonal floor, then bracing, then second floor and fill inside 2 floor sections with spray foam.

there is nothing up there with interferance issues to worry about, but if something should be an issue i have a gas axe! :)

can wait a couple of days on gear lever, will do rest of floor tomorrow. thankyou.

  5. Hi Grant I would be fairly certain that what you have is the C Motor which was 250 HP. It was the most common in the Flintstones and F models before the Maxidynes were released, in conjunction with the Maxitorque gearboxes. If the block had been replaced with a new one from Mack , it would not necessarily have an engine number , nor would it have been painted any colour at all. I have a Maxidyne motor which was never painted until I got it and it has no engine number. best Regards - Michael.

Hello, thankyou, yes it looks like a 250, its a good runner, smooth quiet engine with 18speed quad box.

  6. Joe my boy The gold dog and the silver dog might have been right when it came in the box 20 years ago

after 5 owners and 3 re builds you gota be careful on betting any dough whats under the hood today.

We had a crowd down the coast here that had one with a V12 71 under de hood. Went well though.

I think from memory it went that well they smashed it up in the end.

and where does the dog go on a flintstone? radiator is front of truck.

  7. Rob,

That's just a normal day for me. I kinda like messing up peoples day. Sometime when otherdog and I come up their, we'll get into something illegal. I can Harley....noticed I misspelled that word on purpose? I like doing that....wait. Yea never know what costume I might be wairing either. I used to enjoy putting gravel iside of cars hubcaps. Makes all kinds of wracket. Problem is the FC Government stop putting hubcaps on them cars etc. They said it was because of enviromental reasons. Just like em to do that. Take all tha fun out of it.

    Got To Go Fur Now!

    mike

down here we have 4 or 6 tanks for the outback and i thought the E meant EMPTY not enough! you know, empty, no fuel, not enough to keep engine running but empty wich is just enough to stop a bull dog :thumb: hehe

  8. HI jeff My C motor went to Grafton in 1992. To my good friend Brian Taylor at Banana coast towing. Have been

friends with Brian for 30 years. He came down to visit last christmas an i asked if he still had the motor.

I think it is in a single drive B model. He said it was still going but " getting a bit smokey but still going"

    Mark

Hello, I am not doing anything with the engine but pulling it out and selling it and the 18speed quad. and the flintstone cab and hood can go to! once there out I can drag the rest over to workshop and relocate the diffs 24 inches back from there current position and drill new chassis holes, then strip the poor thing bare.

  9. Larry,

That would be a conestoga wagon. The "curtain sides" have a solid roof, front and swing rear doors with soft sides and a removable support on each side. You can load and unload with an overhead crane on a conestoga, but not on a "curtain side".

These are taughtliners or "curtain sides". I couldn't find any pics on line of conestogas.

    T.

Hello, we have lots of Tautliners down here, we load every thing from the wool bales in pic to amonium nitrate bulka bags for the minesites to just general freight! they normaly have gates inside the curtains however in this pic I have no gates up as the wool bales are like hauling a beached whale and dont fit inside the gates! I hate the things, the curtain rails are never maintained properly and they stick.

in this pic there is 220 bales of wool on this load, I was heading to Melbourne from Perth with a GCM of 62tons I was leaving perth around 9 to 10 pm on tuesday nite and ariving in melbourne midnite thursday nite to unload friday morning, melbourne is 3600kms away from perth. the wool allways shifts and moves and your forever retensioning straps.

  10. An R611 would have originally been equipped with an ENDT673C Thermodyne @ 250H.P.

The outward appearance of the ENDT673C is identical to the ENDT675 237 H.P. Maxidyne, except that the ENDT673C would have been a light greenish blue color, and the ENDT675 would have been Gold.

(edit to add: Also look at the top of the valve covers, back then they were marked "Thermodyne" or "Maxidyne" on that flat area on top. That could tell you what it is, unless someone put different valve covers on it at some point)

it has thermodyne on valve cover also, so there we have it by the looks, a 250hp endt673c thermodyne.

it and the quad box are coming out this week.

  11. Grant, that # is the eng # only, it does not say what eng it is. B4 the # it should have eng type, i.e. ENDT 673C or ENDT675 etc. But that chassis # is for an ENDT673C, 250 HP, Quad, On/Off Hwy rear end. Jeff.

Hello, will look for maxidyne, its painted blue tho. it has an 18spd qaud and 5.32 rears.

    thankyou for help.

    regards Grant
