  1. Was that an 800 or 600 with the different cowl (firewall) ? I always understood the offset cab was to shorten the BBC. Also for better weight distribution. I'm also thinking early Us were available with a V8 . Like when the R style cabs came out , weren't the Us supposed to be the replacement for the Cs? I remember DM 600s with the engine in the cab like U models ,and that was a small cab (metal dash) Get's a little tough to remmeber as back then it was fairly easy to swap stuff around without much trouble. The DM I'm thinking of had a Coolpower in it with the water going through it too. Way newer than the chassis. DM 800s ? they were just huge. No mistaking one of those bad boys for anything else. I think they weren't limited to inline Mack 6 cylinders either.
  2. Wasn't the DM a different frame ? I think I remeber them being deeper channel from a little behind the cab forward.
  3. I drove a Superliner a long time ago for a little bit with the steering box on the axle like that. I don't remember anything out of the ordinary as far as how the truck felt. I also remember in the early '90s they were a hard item to find back then.
  4. We'll know it's ok when we see a new " girl in a car " picture that's not from the Internet.
  5. I often haul out of a pit there. They're waiting for new screens to come in and we cleaned them out of the material I get there. Usually I'm close there. Small world.
  6. Think ya got it now OD.
  7. For some reason that picture makes me wonder about the floats in the carb.......or something like that.
  8. You're right in my neighborhood on that job. Looks like Vacri Construction's job. Will you be going back to deliver there again ?
  9. Barr is pretty much switched over to Freightliners. Still same blue though.
  10. 5.02 and .78 OD with 20" rubber is gonna max out mid sixties tops. I'd think it'd be good in soft ground. Like good enough that the short tires would be more a hinderance than the gearing. And like Paul mentioned, easy to damage itself if misused .
  11. This fleet was probably around The Finger Lakes in New York. Likely Lake Cayuga and was involved in salt one way or another. Most of those fleets, the trucks rusted away to nothing. There were a lot of guys employed by them though, and some are probably still around. Lots of Macks were used in those operations . If Armo's lucky, Brocky might have some input on this subject.
  12. What ever happened to Skippy ?
  13. Congradulations . At the rate you were going on that truck, I don't think anyone here is surpised you finished in your time frame. Truck looks good.
  14. That's exactly what cures that issue. in 2024, not many guys are aware of that repair or able to make it. I'd be looking in that area if I was looking for a vacuum leak. (IDK.... does eather even work for that any more ?)
  15. Some old carbs wear around the throttle plate rod that goes through the base plate. Makes vacuum leaks there's no fixing
  16. Ya know ??? for a novelty truck like you'll be using it, probably any carb with the same base bore spacing will get it to run. It's only a 400, lots of Fords used a 2 barrel on 390s and such.
  17. That looks like it might have been a useful piece of equipment at one time. Cool Power too.
  18. Notice how he had the good sense to leave the Superliner home and nott ake it out in the rain 😉 Nice video.
  19. I've never seen a clean break in there. Usually to some extent the axle shatters. Even if you do manage to get the broken piece out of the side gear and out the housing, your proud feeling of accomplishment fades fast when you hold it again the other part and realize lots of axle is missing. This is most often a case of the longest route actually being the shortest.
  20. Is he the real Family Guy ? Looks like him and is about as smart.
  21. Flanked by a couple Autocars no less. All Pennsylvania's finest.
  22. Volvo is developing engines as well. High tech..... but still Diesel fired.
  23. That truck needs nothing , other than that guy keep using it. 😉
  24. We still luv ya
  25. That was pretty fast. Guy didn't fool around .
