  1. I have seen homemade ones installed. The drivers state they get better fuel mileage but I am not sure if it really work.
  2. You will need to press it off. Also it will need to be set up properly.
  3. It is behind the right kick panel under the fuse panel. There should be 6 t27 torx screws holdong the kick plate in.
  4. I have found a lot of shorts in the roof wiring of MRU's. More than I care to have found. I would look there.
  5. The EGR valve is not cleanable and will need to be replaced. Be careful as the bolts mounting it like to break off. I have a trick that works most times. I use a crack torch and heat the manifold where the bolts go in and work the bolts back and forth while spraying with penetrant and re-heating the area while working the bolts. If one breaks off the manifold will need to be removed. I have saved a lot of manifolds by extracting or using a carbide bit to remove the broken bolt and installing heli-coils. If they come out make sure you run a tap through the threads and use plenty of nickel anti seize on the new bolts.
  6. It will work but have seen to many glitches with the system to use it on US10 and older trucks.
  7. What year is the truck? If it has the round data link connector you can only use PTT 1 if it has the trapizoid connector you can only use PTT 2.
  8. You will need to contact Mack support 1-877-978-6856.
  9. My experience is our customers are suprised how good the trucks pull. We even have MP7's pulling 80,000 and no complaints. Yours may not have been spec correctly for the application. Have seen people by trucks from other dealers and not happy with the way the truck pulled due to it is not spec correctly for the application.
  10. Could be a issue in the wiring or a module. You may have to take it to a dealer if you do not have access to PTT and guided diagnostics.
  11. Could be a module causing the issue. ABS, vecu, eecu, and any other modules and gps units tied into the commu ication lines or the J1939 connector under the hood and the harness connector on top of the trans. Definatly need to know what the blink codes are.
  12. Check all of the above that was mentioned. Also check the back side of the flex pipe that was changed.
  13. The spring issue is from engine torque. Seen it alot. Usually put in a spacer to fix it. Have not seen it cause a major wandering issue.
  14. Has any work been done recently? Could be a leak at the egr hot pipe, exhaust manifold, turbo, intake manifold, and charge air cooler. Seen them all but need to know if anything was done to the truck recently.
  15. Try bleeding the gears. There is instructions online. Google sheppard steering gears. It also tells you how to set the steering limiters in the boxes.
  16. Yes it can. Also it will turn to the left decent and then to the right hard. That is another symptom. The best way to determine is to install a flow test gauge and test each box.
  17. Atf is fine. The only time I see issues with atf is if they had motor oil in them originally. That shouldn'd be as issue as everything is new.
  18. Sheppard gears have a bleeder screw inside of a nut on top of the gear. You turn the steering full left and open the bleeder 3-4 turns and turn it to the right and close the bleeder and repeat untill no air comes out. I do this with the engine running. I have seen this cause many issues and have had other dealers miss this step. Also are you getting full turning lock to lock? The steering should stop about 1/4 inch from the steering stops. If not the boxes need to be adjusted if they have manual stops and if they have auto stops they need to be reset and the front wheels off of the ground and the steering turned lock to lock to set them.
  19. Are they sheppard or trw gears? There are different bleeding procedures for them. On the sheppard gears there is a bleed port.
  20. Were the gears properly bled and the internal stops set correctly?
  21. I would leave the covers off and run the engine and feel each rocker arm and see if you can feel the noise. Is there a miss fire?
  22. Very common to see. I usually see tye plug bypassed and the harness hardwired. I will see if I can get a diagram for you tomorrow.
  23. Your right about the sweet spot. From what you were describing it sounded like an exhaust or boost leak. Glad you found it. Yes an injector can cause the issue but usually there is a miss fire.
  24. Black smoke means to much fuel or not enough air. Check for boost and exhaust leaks.
  25. Just rember camber is more of a wear angle. It can cause some pulling and wander but it usually has to be way out.
