  1. Mate, I would happily pop on over and do it if you shout the airfare I won't charge for the work I do as long as you give me a shady corner to snooze in That gets me to Yanky land, I'll stick my thumb out the rest of the way lol A good looking rooster like me shouldn't have any drama bumbing a ride But if you work slowly thru it, I'm more than happy to help you along the way Paul
  2. Let me guess, sit on the porch and observe the hornets from a safe distance time of day now ?? Paul
  3. I ordered a matching pair of duel cab ute and wagon Ford Ranger from the local Ford dealer some months ago as a surprise for the Princess on our wedding anniversary, we bought matching his and her vehicles in 2006 ? and thougt I would do that again Still nothing showing up yet at the dealer I dunno it's a lotta coin and I'm having second thoughts Every time we park beside a SUV type of thing the Princess comments about "only wankers are driving them" and "Toorak tractors" (Toorak is Melbournes flashest suburb) Thinking I may not of thought this thru fully yet but the paperwork is signed so I may have to speak to the dealer in the comming weeks Theres something like a six month wait on new vehicles since we stopped making them in Australia I keep thinking about I should of bought a classic 63 or 64 Chev Impala that I have always wanted I could buy a fully restored Australian delivered better than new Impala or Belair for less than just the ute Paul
  4. Must a distant relative of Bundy rum I guess The bundy bear has led me astray as a young bloke, he may look soft and cuddley but he will make a mess of yah quick as look at yah Paul
  5. Okay, so both of these have new wires I gather If thats the case back to basics You need a test lamp, not a multimeter or any fangled thing Anything other than a test lamp is only helpful to someone that knows about and is trained in electricity, if you don't a have a full a proper understanding your wasting your time with a multimeter, digital is even worse Right a test lamp like this Simple, basic and old school Start at the battery and perform the most important test, test the test lamp Then one lead on the positive, test to the frame of the truck, it should light up Then to the cab, it should light up You need to scratch a bit of paint off to make a good connection, choose somewhere not obvious Once you have established the cab is grounded, test as close to the fuse panel as you can to prove the ground to somewhere around the fuse panel on the cab, once this ground is established Take the aligator clip off the battery positive and clamp it to that ground Then with probe end of the test lamp, see if you have any power at the fuse panel Then report back with your findings and maybe a photo or two describing your findings And if you get anything thats a bit suss or iffy, take a step back prove the test lamp again and start again, electricity is either on or off, no in between so a dicky reading tells you your lamp alligator clip might not be grounded properly or something has changed Paul
  6. Does it have any power anywhere? Paul
  7. Well Friday night roled around again, watched a old Cary Grant movie, "Mother Goose" had a couple of bourbons and toddled of to bed and thought I'll catch up on social media Next thing I know, I can hear the Princess laughing and my eyes are shut and I have been power napping lol Bugger me I didn't even feel my eye lids getting heavy, it just sort of happened No excitement for methis weekend, house renovations STILL, will it ever end Floors back in the ensuite and walk in robe, ceiling joists and batterns are half done, then weld up a shower recess out of aluminium, tiles, plumbing, electrical, plaster (dry wall I think you blokes call it) paint carpet, bugger me Im gunna stop thinking about this Paul
  8. Saturday morning already here, bugger this home depot you blokes talk about sounds like it has everything Paul
  9. Well something in common to all of the above is most likely the culprit I would check the grounds, or earth or what ever you blokes in yanky land call the frame/chassis side of the battery, can't say negative or positive as I dunno if it's negitive ground or not Either way, pull some of these off and try cleaning them up and see what happens then Paul
  10. Looks to be a fairly standard rubber spider isolator, try a bearing supply place for the replacement Paul
  11. They are gorgeous looking trucks Paul
  12. Well that just turned a headache into a migraine Dunno what the bits of strings hanging from his head are Paul
  13. If it is high humidity were you are at the moment you will find you get a lot more mushroom sauce in your wet tank Paul
  14. I reckon the first catchers were 40 years ago Choppers were still only fairly new to station work so a couple of cruisers with armour plating and old truck tyres on the front were used to push the big cattle down and pin them A lot of bruising resulted and then the wonder of all wonders, the arm went onto grab them around the neck I notice these blokes are grabbing them around the belly which probably even leaves less bruising Only use these on really wild cattle that have never seen man horse in their life Paul
  15. LOL, long time between hair cuts these days Nah the bull catcher isnt my photo I'll try and find a video of bull catching The government eradicated TB in Australia in the 70's All the buffalo got shot out and every cow in Australia was tested People lost whole herds of cattle I tried growing my hair long and it just fell out lol Working on a cattle property in the Burnett as a young bloke the other stock man convinced me to let them shave my head as it would thinken it up All pissed as nits, blood running over me left eye because the drunken bums cut a bit deep Oh to be young and silly lol And yeah I done some of this maddness as a young bloke The older stock men years ago would run bullocks until the got knocked up a bit then jump from the galloping horse and swing on the tail of the bullock and pull him down Apparently if the bullock was run to long he would get his second wind and you would end up in a screaming heap Water buffalo were different and much much bigger and only wanted for their hide, the stock men would gallop in front of the big angry buffalo and shoot in the head at point blank range with the 303 My balls were never big enough for that When choppers came out a the lot of a lot of the silliness happened Mind you I loved living this style of life and when cook is going crook at me, my wanders back to when I was young and day dreams all while trying to look sorry for my wrong doings lol
  16. I grew up in these Landcruisers We were bought home from hospital as babies in them They tow 4 ton all day every day They really are a work horse, not enough power to do any damage but enough gearing to get the job done there's lots more photos but not on the phone my best mate has one with a lazy axle and a 6.2 Chev V8 Doesn't go really fast but sounds good with a twin 3 inch exhaust We criss crossed Australia at 50 MPH pulling a caravan The big change was the 5 speed overdrive and freewheeling hubs People today wouldn't even know what I'm talking about today Thiess bought them to Australia in the 60s for the construction of the Snowy mountains scheme And as they say the rest is history The bull catchers are wild bits of gear A big water buffalo caught here, just think to catch the really cranky mickey bull Paul
  17. Could well be Geoff, it coukd certainly do with every bit of noise reduction It sure isnt RollsRoyce or Cadillac quiet or even busted ass farm ute with the muffler rusted off More farm tractor with out a cab quiet lol I was thinking of that self adhesive under bonnet (hood) liner stuff, Like this More to try and protect the bonnet than keep heat and noise out Paul
  18. Vlad Australian trucks had nothing at all that Im aware of Foam you talk about might of been to stop it freezing in winter, not a big issue in Australia Paul
  19. She measures about 3 1/2 - 4 inches Almost looks like a 6 pack I once grabbed I wonder if it tastes the same as the six pack Paul
  20. Vlad I think the heat from the motor causes most of the issues, all the different materials are heating and cooling at different rates, this causes the paint to crack A lot might have to do were the truck operates and how long it operates for A hour driving off to a truck show as compared to 12 hours at -40° c or +40° c Anyway it's a few weeks until that stage is reached Paul
  21. And yet sat drinking your cocktail thinking, "well if she must take the photo I may as well look good doing it" Happy hour is what it's called in this wide brown land Enjoy the bevy, it's been a big day Paul
  22. It won't take much to get the tail wagging the dog with short trailers like that And slowing down is the only way I know to stop it happen once it's begun Paul
  23. Eat what? I new a girl once that liked to chew on my um, well you know Paul
  24. Vitamins are something I have never worried about I just go old school and eat plenty of fresh food and only eat home cooked meals. Seems to work okay so far Paul
  25. Short trailers and short drawbars on dolly's dont help to keep it straight How long are the trailers ? And good progress on the bonnet Fiber bonnets dont repair real well, I something happens in the fiber glass as it ages You can get stuff that goes in paint to make very flexible They use it on motorbike mud guards, sorry fenders for you lot and it allows the plastic guards on dirt bikes to bend around a lot I wonder if when pain time starts, at the primer stage anything and onwards if it would help with cracking etc Happy days Paul
