  1. One bloke mentions a rotary rasp on a grinder is the go, your more ofbody man than me Fiberglass (from very limited experience) is as hard as all get out I have never really tried to get it smooth like a motor vehicle smooth, I'm just rough and have no idea what I'm doing When my mate painted my truck he used a big (8 or 9 inch?) sander on the bonnet with really course paper and it tore right into it and took no time at all to rip into it, unlike me he does know what he was doing I remember watching him and thinking "I hope he knows what he is doing" Happy sanding Paul
  2. Have a read of this link, might be sdome good ideas https://forums.sailboatowners.com/threads/best-tool-for-grinding-fiberglass.105680/

Im gunna look like a complete dick here But the regulators on the Mack boxes I have worked on are mounted on the box on a bracket on the LHS I have never seen a regulator on the fire wall I'm sure someone else will chime in soon enough Try this link to this web site, it might be of some help Paul
  13. I do recall been 37 years of age 11 years of been together goes quick, someone once said to me that no relationship lasts longer than 10 years I got a bit defensive about this statement So 30 years later I learnt they are actually true, none of us are same people we were 10 years ago So enjoy the new you two, yeah I know it sounds a bit stupid Happy birthday for the other day Quack Quack Had a game show called Plucka Duck years ago, have a laugh https://youtu.be/muK0itwP_6I?si=XiM6wj3UYDewCuRO Paul

  17. Well done and enjoy youre leasure time I think it takes quite a while for blokes to settle into doing nothing each day Certainly in Australia this is appears to be the case Enjoy the change in life Paul
  18. This is may of come across a bit harsh My point probably is badly made I guess what Im trying to say is, this truck has been a issue for a long time and if the miles shown are correct it has been a problem for a long time The truck needs a fresh set of eyes, your eyes and hands etc with and whole fresh approach If you worry about what others have done before there's a real risk of repeating their mistakes and the truck becoming a white elephant for you as well Your that fresh set of eye's If I were you I would assume nothing and methodically work through and prove each system, fuel, air, oil electrical and so is operating correctly until you find the issue that has caused the truck to not of worked for over a decade Just some thoughts that may or may not help Keep at it and you'll get there Paul
  19. I think a lot of people have missed the point of whats behind this idea The logs are generally up the mountain and the mill down the mountain The lads describe it in a video like this Truck is charged over night Morning the truck is charged and drives to logging coupe Truck loads and as it decends the mountain back to the mill with a load on the regenerative braking charges the batteries back up The truck gets to the mill, unloads and is fully charged and the cycle continues The diesel motor is only used on log journeys to mills further away were the electric charge isn't enough to reach the mill In normal operation the diesel should be rarely used Paul
  20. How many air regulators does it have, 1 or 2 Here is a old air line diagram with some useless buggers chicken scratch all over it This is for a single air regulator
  21. If it was me I wouldn't worry about what any previous owner says may or may not be wrong I can understand the previous owner doesn't want any involvement, just get it off their place It is no longer their problem, it is now your truck, your problem All of that been said, maybe think about getting a jerry can and some hose and just run your supply and return out of that If you can make the truck run fine from that, you know the problem is in the tank or the hoses connected to the tank Paul
  22. Has work been done and it hasn't worked since or has it always been issue ? Paul
  23. Dunno if there ever was a 2 valve Econodyne in Australia or if it ever was built Paul
  24. Thats a lotta power out of a small motor Maxidyne I think has extra webbing in the block, this might be handy for the extra horsepower Paul
  25. Okay my 2 cents worth Drain fuel tanks into containers, Im a tight ass Remove tanks and chuck some old nuts and bolts in them, roll the tanks around on the ground and check how clean they are Also count the nuts and bolts you chuck in the tank, re count taking them out Sounds to me like theres a blockage for sure Forget all the fancy fuel aditives, they are no substitute for clean tanks and clean fuel Now 4 layers of cloth rags, a old tee shirt folded over in a funnel and slowly poor your fuel back in, new filters again Now prime up and start If it stops again, stop fiddling and spraying ether Try starting the truck, while trying to start the truck look at the exhaust, is it smoking, if so what colour is the smoke ?? This gives you a hint of the issue Good luck Paul
