  1. My 2008 Silverado Z71 4WD 5.3L on it's best day I can get 19 going across the flat lands of lower Maryland, coastal Va and NC going down to the Outer Banks.
  2. It was only used on Sundays by a nice young man to go to church.............
  3. With 189 plus and 3300 firm I'd wanna stick a compression tester into all 6 holes before I consider it.
  4. That's just crazy talk right there..........
  5. Why duct tape? Just write names on forehead with sharpie.
  6. Maybe I could let the air out of the tires?
  7. The Detroit Diesel Fairy is all powerful and all-knowing.
  8. Vlad, how about this?
  9. Turbo temp- meaning pyrometer......The Fairy said he doubts it has one, meaning a Pyrometer.
  10. The Detroit Diesel Fairy on speed dial hates them just as much (possibly more) than I do. And just because I hate them does not mean that I do not possess knowledge of them. Remember what Don Vito Corleone told Michael- "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."
  11. OK, the Detroit Fairy reports the following: 16- coolant level 31- engine brake 32- cel/sel 1587 communication problem 41- too many srs 42- too few srs 44- engine temp too high 46- battery volts too low 51- turbo temp (doubt it has one??) 62- output fault ecm connections 63- pwm pulse width modular (doubt it has one??) 65- throttle valve (check for air filter restriction) 16, 31, 32, 35, 41, 42, 44, 62 are all related to sensor harness. Maybe bad harness, maybe corrosion. All could be from connection issue at ecm. Detroit Diesel Fairy suggests running it without the air filter to see what happens. And as I predicted he also suggested draining all crankcase oil before you run it and quote "drive it like you stole it, and all of your problems will go away."
  12. Actually the best looking truck is the Aussie ValueLiner but don't tell the F.W.D. I said that.............
  13. Best looking truck in that parade is at 35 seconds!!
  14. Let me see what the Detroit Diesel Fairy says about those codes. First thing he will say though is that the best thing you can do is to put that piece of shit out of it's misery- drain the oil out of it and firewall the governor. Then replace with a 300 Maxidyne. Is this in an E-Won't Hush? Have you checked all the simple stuff first? Bad load of fuel? Have you checked the fuel filters and fuel/water separator? Will get back to you.
  15. Glad to hear everyone made it home OK.
  16. Ya left too early, I would have let you take the FWD for a spin around the test track after the parade! It was good to hang with ya!!!
  17. Note the pictures of the Australian ValueLiner......It was truly an AWESOME piece of Machinery.....It was on my bucketlist to see one at some point in my life, though I would rather have seen one IN Australia, I guess I can cross that off the list.
  18. https://goo.gl/photos/gntpUxJWtBf9eEvh8 Ok if I did this right, that should be a link into my google photo album. Some photos were taken by "Large" and the rest were by myself. These are also posted in the fazebook.
  19. Ken you misspelled "give me my nitro and drive me to the emergency room"
  20. Doug- myself, the wife and the zoo will be there. Any idea what time???
  21. Is this a trick question? Like anything else. If properly taken care of and maintained according to accepted practices and standards, and assuming the equipment is not abused- it should last indefinitely. Like others have said....If it's up there in mileage and is clickety-clacking like a railroad track, then an overhaul may be in order. An oil sample analysis will provide a wealth of information for a small fee. I see you are in Mn......Contact almost any large truck or farm or earth moving machinery dealer, most of the big places either have a lab on site or send their samples to a central lab. You can also try Giles and Ransome Caterpillar in Bensalem, Pennsylvania- they are who I use. They have a lab in-house and will analyze any make/model engine oil, tranny fluids, fuels, coolants, hydraulic oils, etc. Call them on the phone with your credit card handy. They'll send you a sampling kit- a sample bottle, an overpack bottle, a draw tube (to drop down the dipstick hole), a self-addressed/pre-paid UPS envelope to ship it in, and the paperwork. You draw your sample according to the directions, seal the sample bottle up in the overpack bottle with the label affixed. Fill out the paperwork, seal it all up in the supplied envelope, and drop in a UPS box or call for UPS pickup. You should have results in 8-10 days if that long. Last time I did it 4-5 years ago it cost me less than $20.00
  22. If I am not involved in a Fire Dept related 9-11 memorial, I might be able to attend. Does this picture offend sensitive eyes? Taken on Monday, in honor of the nuns in training and their labors.
  23. The Spartan system (which is what we have) is extremely reliable. As I'm sure you know, Spartan builds thousands of chassis a year, not just for the fire service- their big ticket item is motor home chassis- where IFS is desirable. The fire truck front end failures you speak of are probably the ones being experienced by Pierce Manufacturing, Appleton Wisconsin- given a lot of publicity as they have a HUGE share of the fire apparatus market- one of the "Big Three" of the fire service.
