  1. USPS will not be needed in less than 10 years, why do they need trucks that will last 25 years? Should be shut down next year, it would not be missed.
  2. Trucks do not overload themselves, people do. A 12 year old F-550 has issues, I wonder why.
  3. I think Ford is working on a new F-450 - F-550, maybe to F-750 lineup, just a guess, but I think they are. They are up to something with the E series too .. When I say they need a T-550, I do not mean like the old E-550, I mean a something more heavy duty, 15,000 GVW. Cube vans and U-Haul mean a lot to Ford. T-350 is too light for most U-Haul. I see a lot of F and T test C & C running around SE Mich. The Best never Rest.
  4. I agree on towing over loaded trailers, I see it every day. I see class 4 LCF trucks over loaded too ever day too. I think that is why the F-550 is selling so well. There is a market for a T-550 too. In Michigan we have a lot CDL qualified FOOLS driving 160,000 GVW trucks everyday. A CDL does not make you a good truck driver, or a safe driver.
  5. I think what Ford really needs is a new heavy duty chassis for cube vans, a T-550. Transit cab on a 15,000-19,000 GVW chassis with F-series powertrain. Almost all Ford and GM cube vans are overloaded. What works in Europe, does not work here. We haul and tow more, that is not going to change. The T-350 chassis I think is great for a lot of lighter bodies and uses.
  6. Kscarbel you are so right, in the US a 2018 F-350, F-450, E-350 and E-450 are hauling what a 1978 F-600 would have been used for. I think that Transit T-450 on a E-450 frame would need a 6.2 at least. That Transit dual cab looks like it would sell good.
  7. You and I might like what we see, as a Retro look, but I think truck buyers under 55 might not. I see a lot of all black pickups out there. I would like to see a Mack GU813 with a RD800 style hood, that would be cool. It would have to have spoke wheels to look right.
  8. I saw one at large Detroit area GM dealer today. Ford will be ok.
  9. On Detroit radio there reports that he is in very grave condition now.
  10. Sad way for Marchionne to have to leave that way.
  11. Every Cat truck that I have been around that has problems are related to Navistar basic parts. Every Cat dealer truck repair person I have talked too says the same, they have no use for Navistar and the way they build trucks. Cat trucks are really Navistar trucks, Cat did not change every part. I could say a lot more and have seen a lot of issues, they are the same ones Navistar trucks have. I would never own any Navistar product, no matter what name is on the hood.
  12. Navistar will sell GM all the trucks GM will buy, it is good for Navistar, they need to keep there plants working. Navistar would sell trucks to Mack, if Mack would buy them. I say build what you sell. Look at the junk Navistar built for Cat.
  13. Read the above for those waiting for a GM class 7 truck.
  14. 20 years ago the first time I saw a front discharge it was called a Rite-Way, I thought what is this POS. We had to turn it around so we could pour it out. We learned how to use them and the crews did not want rear discharge trucks any more, they only wanted Rite-Way trucks for handwork paving and curb work. They save a lot of work for a crew.
  15. Daimler has the parts, if the dealer wants to look, some do. There are no new parts being made that I know of. They want to kill Ford trucks off for good, they are not having much luck. Kscarbel there are a lot Fords running still, may be not in over the road, but in construction and farm use. I know of more than few Ford owners that rebuilt trucks out of other Ford trucks. I would bet that there are more old Ford trucks running in Michigan than there older Mack trucks. Mack trucks get exported, Fords stay here.
  16. I think if Ford wanted to get back in class 8 they would start by trying to get some parts support for all the Louisville L-9000 and L-8000 trucks that are still running in the US, there are a lot of Ford trucks out there. I also think if they could get the HN80 cab back, put steel doors and a better dash in it, make it right this time. Start by offering a 2019 glider kit for dump truck use, set back axle, 1998-1999 Cat or Cummins, heavy single frame. That truck would sell better than many think and would not cost that much to get back in class 8. No one is waiting for a cabover Ford class 8 truck in the US.
  17. Ford does not support all the Ford class 8 trucks that are on the road in the US now. Why would any one want to buy a new Ford class 8 truck in the US, get real.
  18. There is no need for new length laws.
  19. Maybe 10 years ago, but the truth is out there, if you look. I never drink Kool-Aid.
  20. You can thank the left in Europe and the west coast for starting this huge waste.
  21. Sorry for your loss. I would like too see Barry give you a Lifetime membership for all the good things you have posted on BMT.
  22. A Mack truck needs a Mack engine. What Volvo spent for their junk sure did not turn out so great.
  23. Do you know that for a fact that a E7 could not have been modified to meet need less current standards? The main reason Mack has lost sales is Volvo engines I think.
  24. Mack does not need Cummins, they need the E7 back.
  25. Do not know what this will cost, but this is a good idea.
