  2. hey! i resemble that remark...but sadly you are correct. I am definitely in the minority with paint on my doors...and i speak english...and i can back up!
  3. saw he died saturday in the hospital
  4. that garbage packer looks like its a natural gas truck? the fuel tank sure looks like it
  5. i feel like an idiot using the 6 wheeler. I cant back up to save my life. ALWAYS turning the wrong way! I know what you mean!
  6. couple friends of mine towed it from navistar in melrose park out to nasa wind tunnel out by san jose...pretty cool looking in person
  7. 579 supposed to get at least 1 mpg better than 389. Friend of mine runs a fuel hauling co...they are trading all their 389s for 579s
  8. or use those black letters with the silver rectangle outline that you can buy at the hardware store
  9. Chicago Mack is "M&K Truck Centers" ... which also sells, you guessed it, Volvo
  10. yep...went to the shop, changed oil in the pickup, looked at the dump truck and thought "its already cleaner than it will be at 8am Monday" locked the gate and went home
  11. hard to see who's driving that Johler truck with those BLACK as night tinted windows! I'm surprised the local po-po man doesn't mess with petermack
  12. they get paid by the load...gotta go get the next load...no time or pay for washing
  13. if you look W H Shaffer up, they have quite a collection of older Macks still in service, pretty cool pics
  14. i think there is M. Rizzi, M. R. Rizzi, D Rizzi & Son, and used to be E. C. Rizzi...and I'm sure I missed 1 or 2
  15. there are a bunch of Rizzi's. The red & green Rizzi is still around. The brown & tan Rizzi was E.C. Rizzi. He did pulverized dirt, and went out several years ago
  16. what kinda mileage you get on that run?
  17. sure look like Kuhn trucks, but they seem to have maint records from day one...definitely plain jane trucks like Kuhn. 89000 miles and 4500 hrs on a 04 seems very low to me. our 07 granite has about 120k and 11000 hrs - by the time I put alum rims and whatever else in it, I might as well buy something else. But the price sure seems like a good deal for the miles! I think hauling 80000 with the 300 and a 8 spd would suck most of the time
  18. looking at a 2004 granite with a AMI-300 300 hp with a 8 speed mack trans. Can the hp be turned up some? 300 seems a little low for what I do, but not sure about turning it up Thanks for any input
  19. big hammer...hit the drum...if its been sitting (sounds like it might have been) the shoe might rust to the drum
  20. pretty sure they were pulling redimix trailers for builders concrete (palumbo) before Donegal bought them
  21. a lot of Conway tandem road tractors have no guts in the rear axle. its a regular rear end housing but no gears
  22. if that truck is actually coming here for dump work, good luck...looks like the rear axle is lifted up, which makes me believe its a single axle with a tag? How are you going to haul dirt to all the crappy places we have to go without a real tandem. Just my 2 cents
