  1. Yeah, that is nice and clean; I really like the Tachograph.
  2. No association with this seller, just want to see Vinny's reaction. Interesting pricing strategy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-Mack-U-Model-/151053930623?pt=Commercial_Trucks&hash=item232b84107f
  3. In the condition that's in, isn't $4K a high asking price? Or are B30s that rare?
  4. Even just working days, you're moving right along, JT... If I were doing that project, I'd be doing the ignition switch in Year 3 after breaking two other switches and causing an engine fire.
  5. Hi - here's links to a few: Still a pumper (may be in NY state?): http://www.wotol.com/1-mack-r611f-pumper-truck/second-hand-machinery/prod_id/814304 Still a pumper (kind of a long way away): http://www.fentonfire.com/pumpers_1985_and_below/listing.php?lid=3805 In NY, was a pumper (scroll down to OM 422): http://www.oldmacks.com/trucks.htm Take care, Brad
  6. Second time I've seen this one posted; very nice looking restoration of a B-20 here - looks like it's just ready for a body - or to hang out in your living room, it's that clean: No connection whatsoever to the seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1956-Mack-B20-Frame-Off-Restoration-/161026831325?pt=Commercial_Trucks&hash=item257df273dd
  7. Came across this guy, looks to be in excellent condition - no connection to the seller whatsoever, please contact them directly: http://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/3780922194.html
  8. Meant to post this R- single axle in NJ, but the auction wasn't active earlier this week - $6500. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/mack-r-600-dump-truck-/221226936395?pt=Commercial_Trucks&hash=item338227284b
  9. Are these too old - '81 DM - http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/3771410807.html '88 R - http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/3755248933.html '90 CH (sorry if that's wrong model) - http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/3755263967.html
  10. Did you see the one in Lancaster, PA that someone had posted earlier this week? B-4x, I think.
  11. Definitely only use a straight 40W in the DD 2-strokes; any other diesel multi-viscosity will munge up the swirling chaos and burn up even quicker if you can imagine that. Most guys prefer in this order - Delvac, Rotella, Delo 400, I think they're low- or no-ash.
  12. Looks (and smokes) good, JT. Hope you don't follow that closely when you're driving her! ;o) BTW, my theory - nothing ever, ever breaks on that first drive home. I always tell people leave their new old thing tied to a tether running around in circles in the back yard. Don't shut it off, that's when the problems start.
  13. If it's for sale, and it would help, I can post it on the GMC/Stovebolt boards. What is the asking price? I can find Capello's contact info on the net to point people there. Thanks, Brad
  14. Mike Y, I was driving through Boyertown on Sunday - twice - and I don't know how I missed your pole barn. That building has to be large enough to block sunlight. Looking forward to seeing your equipment up there. (I'd like to get a job as your assistant truck-schlepper!) Brad
  15. Congrats, JT! Don't forget the bumpersticker - "I joined the Mack Trucks forum ... and bought this GMC!" ;o) Seriously, 8V-92 should have plenty of stink, and sound pretty darn cool. My fellow GM motorcoach nuts have a joke that they keep their Detroit engine manuals in plastic bags, since they tend to leak about a teaspoon a month.
  16. Southbound below Broomall, right? Might have been a Willow Grove terminal "retiree".
  17. JT, I saw that on CL awhile back, almost called about it - would've put a flat-bed body on it. At 45K miles, $1K in that condition you can't go wrong, really. Since it was a farm truck, looks like it had no salt exposure. Hope it works out for you.
  18. Updated post - this truck is definitely a '78, the cab is from an '87. VIN # is correct.
  19. Folks - You know you're a Mack newbie when... I'd posted what I thought was a 1987 RS686ST for sale (owned by someone else), and a number of guys replied questioning its actual model year. Yesterday, I went back to the truck and took photos of the VIN plate and the DOT manufacturer sticker (sorry, don't know what else to call it) on the door frame. The VIN plate shows a manufacture date of 11/78, 300HP motor, which seems to jive better with the comments I was getting - so I'm clear there. Looks like it was put on with Phillips heads. The sticker on the back of the door frame (I think that's where it is) shows a different VIN and a later date (10/87) in the upper right-hand corner; which is where I got the 1987 from. Questions: 1.) What is the meaning of the sticker - and what are some reasons why that information doesn't match what's on the plate? Cab from another truck maybe? Was the VIN plate taken from the old cab and attached with screws instead of rivets, then? 2.) If it's a straight 5-speed, is it a safe assumption it's a Maxidyne even if it doesn't say so on the (fiberglass) hood? Pics attached - Thanks a lot, Brad
  20. Very nice truck - great selection! Will we see it at Macungie?
  21. From the PennDOT CDL fact sheet, this might help clarify what "recreational vehicle" means in PA - "motor home or recreational trailer operated solely for personal use." Hobby truck might be a stretch then. I have seen one guy in NY state who registered a tractor with sleeper as an RV - but that was NY and I don't know the rules there. Commercial motor vehicles do not include: a) implements of husbandry; any motor home or recreational trailer operated solely for personal use; or c) motorized construction equipment, including, but not limited to, motorscrapers, backhoes, motorgraders, compactors, excavators, tractors, trenchers and bulldozers. http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/fact_sheets/fs-cdl.pdf I'm getting married next week, not sure I want to know what an "implement of husbandry" is.
  22. Guys - Appreciate the info; I'll go back over next week and take a second look at the VIN plate; this time I'll bring my glasses - or take a picture if I'm still confused.
  23. Hey JT - Thought you might be interested! Price is $15K - right now they're firm on that, but you never know. Have to say for an '87 with a that size complete body it's not a bad price (they told me they need something longer). Anyway, give them their business a call at 215-699-4012 daylight hours. If you need more pictures, let me know I can run and get them - else Butch or his son will have the details you'll need. I hope it works out for you, if you come by to look let me know maybe I can swing by and say hi, I work about two miles away. BTW, I can't believe I left the price out, sorry about that. I went back and edited the post so it's there now. Take care, Brad
