after much research I found a picture

thanks Paul, that's one less thing I have to do...been busy watching TV and waiting by the phone all week-still hasn't rung.

Gee...where to begin? Haven't posted a blog since Dec. 22nd. Lot's been going on since then, good and bad and in between, but i've forgotten most of it. The bad news is that my nephew Bo Scruggs was one of the victims of the sorry bastard who shot and killed 8 people in Appomattox recently. 8 good people, for no apparent reason, or reasons known only to him. Then Bo's dad Ronnie had a heart attack and is now recovering at home from 5-way heart bypass surgery, so he'll be out of work for a while. Fortunately the community has rallied behind them and the other victims families with benefits for them like stews, dances, and the skating rink in Appomattox- where Bo was a regular- donated money also. The Pamplin volunteer fire department made 40 gallons of chicken stew and 40 gallons of beef stew- it was all sold in 15 minutes, along with all the cakes,pies,and desserts people donated to sell. Been running pretty good lately. Went to Mobile, Al. one week. Reloaded in Shreveport for Lynchburg and it was snowing. In Shreveport. Louisiana. Then the following week I went to Mobile and back twice. Then last week I went to Eagle Pass Texas. That's about a desolate ass place, right on the Mexican border. Nothing but brush and cactus for about 50 miles or so before you get there, for as far as you can see. Had to come all the way back to Jackson, Tn. to get a load though...going to New #@*+ing Jersey. Had to go to Wilmington, De. Monday to unload a load I picked up in Blytheville, Ar. last week. I left here Sunday and while I was driving up rt. 29 I noticed the alternator wasn't charging. Figured it was probably the belt, and I had a spare, so I pulled into the truckstop at Opal to put it on...but it wasn't the belt. So I called Jeff and he told me to call road service, so I did, and left there 6 hours later with a new alternator. I left Wilmington when I got unloaded Monday morning, headed to Petersburg to load the Eagle Pass load. Went by Peterbilt in Richmond to get the engine brake fixed-it only worked 2/3's- and I had an air bag leaking on the cab. Left there with 2 new air bags and a fully operational engine brake...6 hours later. 12 hours downtime...don't tell Rob.

yeah, the Virginia blood was why I thought for sure you'd had them before. I'm with ya on the stewed tomatoes and corn bread! I cain't believe this- I bet Bollweevil knows about creeces. Speaking of alcohol, which I know nothing about, I was in the liquor store the other day and noticed Crown Royal was about the same price as Jim Beam, (my usual). Musta been on sale, I thought it was way higher.

I like fish, but prefer it battered and fried, or grilled. Never tried any pickled herring. Them little tiny fishes in a can are good on a saltine though.

I guess it's a southern tradition, i'm not sure. We always had them on New Years day when I was growing up. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said they always had to have black eyed peas and greens on New Years day too. Didn't sound like he was particularly fond of them. I like 'em both. I don't know if they grow in Illinois, but they probaby do. A corn field (hint-hint), after the corn was picked was usually a good place to find them. It's easy to tell where they were in the spring. Then they grow up to seed and have yellow flowers on them. Much harder to find before they do, but usually if you find some there'll be lots of them in one place. They're common in the south. you should see "attachments" right under your post. right under that you'll see a box with "browse". click "browse" and you should be able to access any pictures on your PC. Right click on the picture and when another window opens just click "select". The file name will appear in the space beside the "browse" button. Then just click the "attach this file" box. Wait for the symbol indicating it's finished, then click "add reply" and that's it. You might want to resize big pictures first, as they take a long time to post and download.

I'm ready- got the black eyed peas and greens. Black eyed peas are supposed to bring luck in the new year, and the greens money. So I got 2 cans of greens. Actually I had only seen canned creeces at one other store around here, and that was in Appomattox. Found these yesterday at the local store 2 miles from here. We used to go out and cut our own, when you could find them. They're my favorite, but kind of hard to come by. They grow flat on the ground and we'd take an old knife and cut them off level at the ground, put them in a sack, and bring them home and try to get all the dirt off before you cooked them. A huge pot of them will cook down to a little bit, but they're mighty tasty cooked with some seasoning meat (hog jowls for New Years), a few potatoes, and topped with chopped onion and vinegar. Anybody besides DoubleL ever eaten these?

Except for a radiator that's where all my Peterbilt problems have been- the C-15 engine. When I take it up here to Cat in Lynchburg it looks like F.L.M. has opened a terminal there because there's usually several more trucks there too. Every time I leave i'm wondering when the engine light's gonna come on. I drove many trucks with the N14 and didn't worry about a thing. Then the ISX comes along, and it's back and forth to Cummins because of EGR issues. Had to go all the way to Roanoke to Cummins, maybe that's partly why they went to Cat power. As we've heard here, Mack has their problems too. But, as i've said before, I don't blame the engine manufacturers. When they get something pretty much perfected, like the N14, they have to change it to meet new emissions standards and it's a never ending battle.

sounds just like flatbed work. Hope it picks up after New Years. I saw a quadruplex transmission and an R-model cab for sale in the Truck Paper several years ago for $700. Wish i'd bought them now, could have resold the cab and had a spare trans.

cain't- scanner quit working about the same time the webcam did. I can still print, and make copies of documents, and send the copy via the United States Postal Service though.

come to think of it- I have a printer,scanner,copier- but no fax machine. guess you'll have to run the tape measure yourself.

Bill just sent me an e-mail about some videos he was sending and I asked him if he got the message. He did not, because he doesn't have Live Messenger anymore. Next thing you know, he called. He said you might try a program called "your uninstaller 2008 pro". He said that's what his computer doctor reccomended to him, and it'll clean everything out. He did not know if they had a free version or a sample. Might be worth checking out.

How about if we just measure the spring hangers instead of doing all that? I'm not too worried about melting here, it's 21 degrees-perfect for laying outside under a truck.

take a tape measure and measure the B-61 springs, then measure the B-67 springs. If the dimensions are the same then yes, they will fit.

I found 1 place that had used trans. prices listed, but they only had the RTO12513 listed. Whether it's worth more, less, or the same as the RT I don't know, but it was $1350 used, $1750 reconditioned, $2000 rebuilt. Also a 12515 was $1200 at another used parts place, so that might give you a ballpark idea.

could be as simple as a weak spring. the throttle spring on the '77 I drove worked backwards from what you would think-if it broke, which mine did twice, it would run wide open. I put a rubber strap on it along with the spring, just for extra "insurance" in case the spring decided to break again in a bad spot, like coming down the mountain with a load of chips.
