  1. Guys,

Not only Michael Jackson but the media memorialized Tennessee Titans former QB, Steve McNair here in Tennessee then did the same in his old town of Mississippi. This country has all but spit upon the Honorable soldier and citizen. The country is talkin more about ballgames than caring about the soldiers or people that bettered the world for all of us to eat, excreet and safely go to sleep in.

Tom, i'm happy to honor Mr. Ed Freeman and the many others in the Prayers daily that I have for those that died for me to see another tomorrow without being threaten by another foe. My father died this past October and was sick of all the s#&t that has been going on in this country.

Thanks for posting about Ed Freeman

    mike

Hi Mike, I googled Ed Freeman and he actually died in August, 2008 but still I didn't know anything about him until I got that e-mail from Andrew. The story I read said the medivac pilots wouldn't fly in any more because the fighting was so intense, and the landing zone was only about 100 yards from the most intense of it. Ed Freeman and his commander both volunteered to fly in, the only two to step forward when they asked for volunteers. Ed Freeman was originally from Mississippi too.

I got a similar e-mail from Bollweevil, but didn't check my AOL mail until later.

  2. Got this E-mail from Andrew in Australia, and it's so good I'm gonna share it here...no disrespect intended for Michael Jackson, but Andrew's Australian and he makes an excellent point-I'd never heard of Ed Freeman, or his passing. And he was a true hero.

    This is about priorities everyone...

    Andrew.

    For your interest

    ED FREEMAN (Medal of Honour)

    You're a 19 year old kid.

You're critically wounded, and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley , 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray , Vietnam ..

Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8 - 1, and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the Medivac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know you're not getting out.

Your family is 1/2 way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter, and you look up to see an un-armed Huey, but it doesn't seem real, because no Medi-Vac markings are on it...

Ed Freeman is coming for you... He's not Medi-Vac, so it's not his job, but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.

    He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in, and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire, to the Doctors and Nurses.

And, he kept coming back.... 13 more times..... And took about 30 of you and your buddies out, who would never have gotten out.

Medal of Honour Recipient, Ed Freeman, died last Wednesday at the age of 80, in Boise , ID ........

    May God rest his soul......

I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we sure were told a whole bunch of rubbish about some one gloved child molester....

Medal of Honour Winner Ed Freeman!

    Shame on the American Media

  3. I like the macks for the off road but not everone is a mack fan. I agree that one of the down sides of the older macks was that they did not offer off breed "standard power" as a more common alternative options. I think that a good running 300 mack is just fine for the city but pull hills all day and that 500 cat looks alot better. the only down side I see with off breed power is that they all had higher operation costs and they were not as easy to work on as the old ENDT675-676 /E6 etc... I have only driven one mack that had an off breed motor and I like it. It was a 350 big cam cummins. it would run away from all the 300 macks in the hills but could not out pull from them stop lights with all the shifting going on.

    that's like the F-models I drove, one a 300 five speed, the other a 350 Cummins with a 10 speed Roadranger.

  4. I think we should all believe in something.

I believe that I'll turn the broiler oven up a couple of notches as the meat was a little rare last evening for the time expended.

Sins = My life; repentance is futile.

    Rob

too bad, you're wrong. when the oven is on broil the top heating element is already w.f.o. so you can not turn it up any more. try leaving the slab-o-lab in there a little bit longer next time. oh, broiler oven-not an electric range, eh?..well maybe you can, I might be wrong.

But God will forgive your sins, and there is none who is without sin-not one.

  5. Tom,

I stand to be corrected but, you are wrong about the hyphen. If you look a little closer you will find that there definitly is another letter between the A & H........giveup..............it's an I or eye.......better look closer. You must have been slobbering heavily.

    mike :P

Indeed it is, went back and took a closer look and you are correct.

  6. I been listening to them firecrackers goin' off in the neighborhood all day....

    ...then they stopped...

...and a short while later, sirens...

    ...fire truck and an ambulance...

...kinda funny, since fireworks (much like everything else "fun") are illegal here.

Luckily the state line ain't too far away :D I got me a pretty good stash of stuff...ain't shot none off this year though...savin' 'em for later B)

I used to stop in S.C. and Tn. and get some every year.I lived by a big field in Appomattox, now i've got woods all around and it's gotten pretty dry too-wouldn't wanna set the woods on fire!

  7. Well said James - I echo the same sentiment - FREEDOM ISN'T FREE!!

And I didn't get any call from Tom - did you? What's he think we are, chopped liver?

He's probably just about 7 or 8 hours north for you, and 7 or 8 hours south for me -

just a nice early day ride. We could be there for dinner easy.

But - he didn't even think of us.

    Happy 4th!

    Paul VS

You stole my thunder! I was gonna say "well said James!". Would you believe I tried to call both of you, but I lost my signal...tried again, but an ostrich ran by and snatched my phone outa my hand.

  8. I hope everybody has a safe and healthy 4th. of July holiday weekend. I called my son this morning, a friend, and my daughter, to see if they wanted to come over for some barbecued chicken and ribs. My son Morgan called back and said he couln't make it-didn't hear from anyone else...wish I lived closer to Rob and Joe and James and Larry, and Darrell, and Daryl, they'd probably come over for chicken & ribs.

Damn, I cook so bad I can't give it away...crap!

  9. As long as it ain't the guy down at the mortuary askin' yer pants & shirt size, I guess it can't be too bad a thing...if'n they got uniforms, they need ta know what size ta gitcha :thumb:

Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, David Carradine, Ed McMahon, Karl Malden, Steve Mcnair, Billy Mays,..kinda glad i'm not famous!

  10. looks like a fine job of grading and putting that culvert in-outstanding!..but what's in that field, wheat? Don't let them folks park in that field and tear it up!

And I've driven many Internationals, a couple of CO4070A Transtars , couple of 9400's, a 9900i, a 9900ix, and I liked them all...am I gittin' old, or what's goin' on? -pretty soon i'll be as old as Rob...gee!

BTW, I can't get the video to work.

  11. walnuts are just as good

and with the pine nuts you can find them in the italian food section or gorment section of gorcry store.

    Male pine tree

I don't care who you are that's funny right there

    but back to the topic

Pine nuts are the edible seeds of pines (family Pinaceae, genus Pinus). About 20 species of pine produce seeds large enough to be worth harvesting; in other pines the seeds are also edible, but are too small to be of value as a human food.

    here are a few photos

I would ask Rob more about pine nuts and what pine tree he would reconmend.

I was looking at that site, very informative. Some people used pine nuts, some walnuts, and one person said smoked almonds. I like me some smoked almonds now!

Gonna keep this truck related, so the site police don't git us...

  12. Great!! We'll have to summons up Tom, (with his giant mater), James, and Mike for us a good ole fashioned BBQ. I'll stop by my favorite "side road through the sticks" and gather up some fresh cuisine, Mike will bring the Tabasco sauce and 'shine, James can bring the dinner rolls and fresh peaches, and Tom can bring good fixins from the garden he has so dillegently tended to. Fred, you can bring the side condiments and I'll play Chef Rob. We'll use the scrap tires for fuel cause then we don't need no charcoal.

Damn, we be eatin good at the Cafe!!

    Rob

I ain't braggin'-but I got the fixin's- tomatoes, onion, peppers, garlic, herbs, corn, green beans, cukes, squash, cole slaw (cabbage, just needs processing)- and there ain't much I cain't grill!

I didn't plant any potato salad though...but I did plant some okra.

Oh, 20'' wheels-I need some too. I can get plenty for $40 apiece. I'm holding out for free ones, but I might have to buy 'em.

  13. basil sliced with pasta ,sliced tomatoe and ham with mozoila chesse for a good meal

Or basil, ham, tomatoe and chesse as a snack and the flower on the basil plant is edbile and a great garnish

of cousre I have found this resipe on the net for pesto

    Fresh Basil Pesto Recipe

Print OptionsPrint (no photos)Print (with photos)

    Ingredients

2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan-Reggiano or Romano cheese

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts

3 medium sized garlic cloves, minced

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Special equipment needed: A food processor

1 Combine the basil in with the pine nuts, pulse a few times in a food processor. (If you are using walnuts instead of pine nuts and they are not already chopped, pulse them a few times first, before adding the basil.) Add the garlic, pulse a few times more.

2 Slowly add the olive oil in a constant stream while the food processor is on. Stop to scrape down the sides of the food processor with a rubber spatula. Add the grated cheese and pulse again until blended. Add a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

    Makes 1 cup.

Serve with pasta, or over baked potatoes, or spread over toasted baguette slices.

    here is the website

    http://elise.com/recipes/archives/001329fr...basil_pesto.php

Of course Rob might know more about preparing basil I then I would

what are pine nuts? I've heard of them on the food channel (yeah, I watch it a lot) but never seen them. Where do you find pine nuts, on a male pine tree? Are the walnuts just as good?

  14. well at least you have gotten a ripe tomatoe early,

the only plant I have that produce any thin is the basil

when my tomates and pepers are ripe I might post a photo of it

My basil is looking good too-most of my other herbs appear to be dying. I'm still not sure what to do with it though.

  15. you have forget the pound of ham :D

you're talking deluxe tomato sandwich now! :D

This is the actual size of the tomato-figured I should come clean, before Paul starts calling wanting to know what kind of fertilizer I used.

  16. The problem now is not the size of the tomater, but where are we going to find a loaf of bread big enough to create a one slice sammich. I bet Rob can find one.

yep, one slice of that 'mater, one loaf of bread, and a jar of mayo is all we need. where can I find a knife big enough to slice it though?..might have to use the ol' 925 Homelite.

  17. well that is some substence there :) :banna:

it looks like eather a beef steak or atack of the killer tomatoes

it's actually called a "mr. stripey", kind of a red and yellow mix. Had one early girl plant, but these got ripe first.

    oh, keepin' it truck oriented...

  18. Put a bulldog on the nose and it will stay out of the repair shop.

too late- shoulda done it last week- I hit a deer and broke a hood hinge, and I gotta take it to Cat Monday morning because the engine light is on again, showing an intake valve actuator fault code...again.
