  1. You drive too much already, the only way you could drive more would to be twins. Forget it. When Nikki get's her ticket , and it's official. She could have an official position right hear on this forum. Resident expert. Who's just monkeying around, Who's spreading BS too thick, Who's acting like a horses a--. She can register an official educated, qualified, undisputed opinion. Even Rob will have to listen to her. LOL Like he doesn't already. What would you call a daddy's girl's daddy?

 What?!!! oh, you thought- <_< naw, naw, naw, I spend a good bit of time trying to get out of work, not trying to do more . I don't take any artificial stimulants except coffee and an occasional Amp or Red Bull energy drink. When I get tired I go to bed. I was just thinking perhaps Mike went to visit and got rubbed out ...just a thought. ;)

  2. That's great, congratulations Nikki! :thumb::chili::banana::dwave::clap:

by the way...haven't heard from Mike in a while- he didn't happen to come over to see Nikki lately, did he?..just wondering what might have happened to him :whistling:

  3. I have the same problem! Like driving a paint shaker for the first few miles. I keep the tires up to max inflation to reduce the egg effect. Everybody says I should lower the pressure to get a smoother ride. To me the rough ride is part of the charm B) . I don't put enough miles on to be a real issue. All the cars looked good in your pics. I can appreciate what people put into a project even if I am not a fan of that make. It looks like Miss Becky is off by herself on the side of the lot. Did you fart in the corner? Why are you letting "slim" talk you into painting the hood?

I got one tire that's low, but not flat. I can't put air in it because the valve stem is mashed almost flat on the end. Didn't want to buy a tube for it because I really need tires, but I don't drive it very far or very often either.

I've been parking in pretty much the same spot there every year. Last year I dripped power steering fluid on the ground, this year it was fuel. The little clip with the wing nut that holds the plunger down on the pump came loose and it was dripping a little fuel.

I saw a red B-model at Winchester with just the top of the hood and fenders painted black, like Old Bill's, and just liked the looks of them. I think the whole hood and fenders would be too much black.

  4. Way to go there Tom. Great job and thanks for posting the photos. One question though. Have you put any thought to how much more you could have given had you painted the hood on the mixer black???

    Rob

    :(

Yeah...I know. I'm still planning to get the top of the hood painted black some day, when I can afford it again. Right now I really need to get some wheels so I can put some of Todd Moore's good used tubeless tires on it-it seems to drive worse every time I drive it now, like the left front and right rear drive tires are egg shaped instead of round. They're all caps and some have cuts in the sidewall on the inside- just junk really. It wants to bounce and shake and drift all over the road- unless you want to buy it. In that case it drives like a Cadillac!

  5. I like the Ford Fairlane - kind of a rare piece; and that

dark blue Chevelle is really nice.

But the one that really steals the show is that Mack mixer.

Who was that masked man anyway?

It's nice of you to participate in the charity event.

It's what we all should be doing.

    Paul VS

The Fairlane is a nice unit. That and the blue Mustangs are all owned by members of the Hackett family I think, and they like those Fords. They used to bring a a '58 F-600 pulp wood truck that looks like new with a chain saw on the back about the same age and win the big truck trophy every year, but I didn't see it this year. Charles Hackett started the benefit for his brother-in-law. He's a logger and has a Ford L-800 or 8000 with a 6-71 Detroit in it. He used to have a straight pipe on it and you could hear him coming from about 7 miles away. I didn't live too far from them when I lived in Appomattox. I lived about a mile from the Buckingham county line on rt. 24 and Toga is about 2 miles into Buckingham county.

I liked the dark blue Chevelle too- the '70 with the 454. I had a '70 SS396. The one with the hood up is a '68 or '69, but I can't tell which. The black Camaro was a nice hotrod too. The '71 Cutlass Supreme was a beautiful car too- I had one of them too, a '70 model 2 door, not a convertible. One of the best cars I ever had. Shame they ruined the looks of this one with those idiotic looking tires and wheels...just my opinion.

    The maxed man was I.

  6. I just got back from the 7th. annual Toga community benefit, a benefit for 2 deserving people in the area, picked by committee. It's usually for people who are facing overwhelming medical conditions and expenses. I always contribute something, and have every year. I donated $15 to enter the mixer in the car show, and always find something to donate for the silent auction. This year it was a Dale Earnhardt collector set that had a coffee mug, a handled mug, and a ceramic magnet in it- still in the box it came in. Don't remember where I got it, but i'm pretty sure someone gave it to me for Christmas one year.

It's just people helping people, and that's a good thing. I think that's what I like best about BMT, it's all about people helping people.

I took some pictures of the car show, there were some nice rides there.

  7. I could be wrong and prolly am but really don't think there is a lot of money in hauling that type of commodity. Besides that; It may be difficult to find drivers that want to drive into such a gaseous atmosphere for work. Of course on the flip side that may just elevate the rates??

    Rob

True, pinto beans and cornbread wouldn't be a money maker but they'd be a big hit at the company picnic.

  8. And there is also the plus of hauling two different materials at the same time. The driver that i talked to said it was all about get in were a trailer cant so i would sayt their rates should be some more higher than ours.

I hadn't even thought about that, good point- you could have the pinto beans and ham on one and the cornbread on the other one.

  9. The main advantage of using a transfer is maneuverability when dumping on jobsites and tight areas since you only have to back in a single truck instead of a truck+trailer.

Some places out west they'll pull 2 trailers. I can see the advantage, if you had a fairly long ways to haul and a good place "on site" to drop the trailer, but on a short haul, or if you had to drop the trailer a long ways away then drive through traffic to get to a jobsite, then that's a horse of a different hue.

  10. In addition to my earlier comments, I should add that in the past I have transplanted a 237 and a 285 into trucks with quad boxes and it worked well, no trans troubles.

But just like anything else, if you drive it sensibly and shift it smoothly it will last a long time.

Drive it rough & crazy and the transmission will be scrap iron in short order.

that's it in a nutshell- it's all in how you drive it and what it's going to be used for.

  11. I went to the ATHS show in Lincolnton, N.C. with NoClueJoe today. I've been resizing and editing pictures since I got home. I'll post more tomorrow here or on webshots or somewhere, i'm too beat to finish them tonight.

The rest of the pictures are here- http://community.webshots.com/album/573745805JUdVLj?start=0

Also put a few more in my "Old Macks in Cumberland" gallery, after a return visit to P.L.Duncan's place. Bad part was, he had what looked to be an EHU or EFU Mack in excellent shape and I didn't get a picture of it!

I always liked the look of these old Internationals but had never seen one up close, not even at antique truck shows- and Mr. Duncan had one. Kinda looks like a locomotive cab.

  12. James, don't whup him too bad, cause he's already been whupped on. Jist check out the xrays of his leg. If his dad's like me in doing what he likes. I get in trouble doing that everytime I try. :)

well, if you are planning to whip him, now would be the time to do it, while he's incapacitated.

  13. Joe,

I've ben trying to find out if Tom with his mixer is going, so I can bring the teki lights and fix up a bar on his mixer. He's ben keepin a low profile lately for some reason. It may be his g/f cause they don't like for us guys to get together and have fun. Maybe they think we's a talkin bout them......LOL....LOL...I mean what else is funner to talk about than guls. Saw one walkin down the street the otherday....had shoes bigger than any man size 13......and lo an behold was swingin a brammer bulls hind quarters.... can't ya see tha flies swarmin......g/f said whach ya lookin at, huh......I just told her I though I seen a brammer bull got loose and was walkin down tha street. She didn't think that was funny, but I did.

Back to tha subject........if Tom doesn't answer to this....then I can get into trouble here the same as up their.

  14. Mornin Tom,

Just wondering if you are still going to show up with the mixer at Linconton, NC the 24th ? How will I need to exit to find the farm from the interstate ?

    mike

I'm planning to show up the 25th, but I won't have the mixer there. I just don't want to drive it that far-the longest trip I usually make with it is to the Cumberland county Christmas parade, which is about 55-60 miles each way.

The ad says from I-40 take exit 123 and go South on U.S. 321 to exit 33 (Startown Rd.) and follow the signs. For more info call Brad Wike at 828-612-3447.

  15. I made that video and never can figure out how to get it from the camera to the computer. I will have to try harder.

    Morgan

stupid computers! (freighttrain) I bought a Panasonic hard drive video camera last year, and it will not work with this computer. I used the disc that came with the camera to install the program and it's supposed to work with windows vista but it does not recognize any video. It does show still pictures taken with it, but not video. I can download the video from it using windows media center but not Panasonic video suite. That's why I put stupid videos on youtube, I didn't know you could put videos on photobucket, or flicka, or webshots.

  16. Tom,

Looks like the girl on the right has more on her plate than the girl on the left. I understand that beer has something to do with the size, per watching Manswers on late TV.

    mike

you're right again-very observant. I didn't even notice the plates at first!
