  1. I'm looking instead of getting a degree in management is get the certificates in management and entrepreneur which is 19 credits total instead of 66 credits for the degree. Sure the degree means more but I've already done 4 years worth of business classes including word, excel, resumes/portfolios, business law, correspondence, electronic calculator, filing, and transcription. Those skills are valuable and learned a lot from them which was actually college level work. The management certificate covers Human Relations in the Workplace, Principles of Management, Human Resource Management, Small Business Management, Marketing, and Ethics in the Workplace while the entrepreneur certificate covers Entrepreneur Basics, Entrepreneur: First Year, and Business Plan Basics. Now those are the skills I need and haven't learned yet. What can I say I may be crazy but I'm smart! :D

    gee...and I thought I knew it all because I learned " i before e except after c", and e=mc squared.

  2. If you try to drive that Pete, I can predict your itinerary; It goes something like this: 50% distance from starting point to destination, mechanical failure sets in. Three workday wait on parts. Other Dog rides another dog home, (Greyhoud) due to backlog at Peterbilt dealership as many are in line ahead of him. Numerous cursing takes place with every other sentence being: "If I only drove a Mack, I'd be there now".

    Rob

Oh no, I won't be going Greyhound- I'll use the down time to go to the truck and tractor pull. That's why I won't be able to afford a hotdog.

  3. Your a good man! I'm proud of ya, I thought I had a big heart but yours is much bigger than mine! :)

Thanks Double L, i'm just a nobody, but i've been right where Bill is now, and it's a tough thing to have to deal with. I'm just doing what I can to help the man because I do have a great deal of respect and admiration for the man. I don't know if you've been following the whole situation or not, but it really hit close to home for me. My situation wasn't that long ago and it's still painful, and i've been friends with Bill for about 5 or 6 years now. We used to talk on skype every weekend, (we can see each other on the webcam, it's just like being there).

If you've never checked out his website (one of the three best trucking sites on the web, along with BMT and http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/trucks.htm)

    it's http://www.thedieselgypsy.com/

If I just get 30 more dollars, i'd put the $30 or so that Ice Road DVD would cost with the only donation i've gotten so far and send him a hundred bucks.

...and thank you again Mike for your generous contribution.

  4. Ya, you always "wish" you had MORE whatever, but then when you come along someone with real problems it kinda humbles you. All that "important" stuff all of a sudden isn't. I could have used that money for something, but I'll survive without it. I'm square with the world and got a roof over my head so that's good for me.

That's exactly right. I was just re-reading this post after I talked to Bill. I was watching "Ice Road Truckers" last Sunday and complaining about all the commercials. Jo said "why don't you just get the DVD?". I said "can't afford it". She said "you can afford $30 can't you?". Well, I probably could afford $30, but since it comes on TV and I can watch it for free (at least as long as I pay the Directv bill) i'm not gonna buy the DVD, and complaining about the commercials just seems stupid now. Bill's got real problems, and i'm gonna whine about commercials?

  5. Just a reminder- just heard from Old Bill. He thanked me again for the assistance, and said Murt was getting worse. Said his 24 hour days now are much harder than hauling freight ever was. If anyone wanted to help him out a little, I know he'd appreciate it tremendously. He's got it pretty rough right now.

  6. Some more old trailers i've seen...the Rude Carriers, out of Falling Waters, W.V, is in Keyser, W.V. The Transcon pup is on rt. 50 in Junction, W.V. There's an old Dixie-Ohio Express trailer on rt. 224 on Ohio a little ways east of rt. 250, and there used to be 2 McLean trailers in Roanoke, don't know if they're still sitting there or not.

  7. I'm on the udder side of the world LMAO @ the rare bits

Wiper blades not cutting it? Why replace them, when you could sharpen them? This high grade whetstone is all that you would expect from our quality line of KaleCoAuto products. It features three sharpening surfaces for different sizes of wiperblades.

    LOL

    cya

    §wishy

That's just funny right there! I wanted the porcupine seat covers as sonn as I saw 'em, but they're just to expensive.

I used to have an ACME products catalog saved, as used by Wile E. Coyote, but I lost it or deleted it somewhere along the line.

  8. I've been made fun of and the brunt of jokes most of my life so nothing bothers me anymore. I laugh with the rest of you guys.

Being unhappy is no way to go through life.

    Rob

no, it's not. besides, I don't even have the original face anymore, the 22 year old fella, so I had to make new ones.

  9. Several folks have met me on the board. The "chick magnet" is me. Some just refuse to believe it. Although the photo was a couple years old when posted, it is still an accurate representation.

Lucky I have thick skin as the artwork could be deemed offensive to some. I was hoping to make Macungie this year, (but our government had other intrusive plans for me in this timeframe) to clear up your doubts. One of these days the mind will be put at ease.

    Rob

Greg Rider started that offensive material, putting his head on "your"(?) body. Then I got kinda carried away...sorry about that. But it WAS funny as hell, wasn't it!

  10. Now I'm confussed.... .....I guess i'd better go home and check to see if my truck is still there. If it is then i'll start blaming OD for anything that comes up like some others here.

Paul, tha bumblebee and myself were looking for you guys at Huntsville but didn't see hide nor hair of ya.

    :D

    mike

Paul's like Rob in the fact that they like to remain a mystery...no one knows what they really look like, or what they're really up to, where we put pictures of ourselves out there for all the world to see. I'm gonna check the post office tomorrow to see if I can find their pictures on the wall.

  11. Just to keep this discussion going -

Almost all of the green B Mack interiors are a metallic paint - but apparently not all.

I was looking at a group of trucks this week, and found a B-7--with a flat, non-metallic

green interior paint. It certainly appeared original, with no sign of repaint inside anywhere.

Kind of a grayish, light green color that I thought looked a lot better than the metallic

green that is in so many of the old Macks.

I know the early R models had a non-metallic green paint inside, and this looked much the same.

I don't know what year the B-7-- is, but I suppose it could be a late production B model.

Anyway - I found it interesting that this particular green was so different from any I've seen.

    Paul Van Scott

...and you didn't take any pictures?

  12. I've got a couple 1693TA's. One in a truck, and one on the floor. It is a big engine. If Joe got that into a H-63, he did some modification(s) to make it fit. Also beefed up the front suspension as the 1693TA weighs in at 3550# before ancillary components are bolted on. The original Mack engine less than 2200# fully dressed. Sure would have been fun to operate.

I agree that a 1693 is quite a bit larger than an 855 Cummins.

    Rob

But Joe Mustang is a legendary figure, just like B.C. Fry. They could do anything.

  13. Imagine that......

A Pete in a repair shop. Sounds like calling the kettle black to me.

    Rob

They had to put a compressor on it but Jimmy couldn't get the fan to come on with the AC like it's supposed to, so he called Peterbilt in Richmond and told them i'd be stopping by. I unloaded in Petersburg first, then ran up to Richmond to the Peterbilt place. Got there at 1 o'clock, but they had so many Pete's in the shop they said it would be 5 or 6 o'clock before they could even look at it, so I told them i'd run the fan on manual, and left.

  14. I won't argue over the durability of either Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. I've owned, and repaired all of the brands. I don't really think one is built any better from the other, nor is any more durable. It all depends on the maintenance the unit is given.

I think where Ford screwed up is to get away from king pins in the steer axle, (2WD) and using flimsey pivot bushings in the axle ends, and radius arms. The newer ones don't get good longevity due to the ball joints being sized too small. Till they did this to ease up the ride to appeal to the masses, they had the best front end, (my opinion) from a durability standpoint.

The Dodge and Chevy both also suffer from joints that are physically too small to perform adequately for thousands of miles. This coupled with a lack of grease zerks and all parts are short lived no matter the brand.

All I know is the damn things cost too much.

    No offense meant to anyone.

    Rob

...to appeal to the masses... reminds me of the Jeep CJ's. They were a very capable off-road vehicle, but they had a tendency to tip over easily when cornering at high speed, especially with bigger tires. High speed cornering was not their intended purpose, nor high speed travel at all, but i've been passed on the interstate many times by Jeeps, running 70+ with kids hanging out of them everywhere. So they changed everything to make them safer on the highway, and in the process took away a lot of the off road ability.

  15. Hey!! You're in Luck!! I have several pints of NOS "blinker fluid" left over at the shop. Also got Johnson rods, Kunuter valves, (lifetime warrenty) muffler bearings, stantion remover, (spray only) and many new, left over, or obsolete fine products guaranteed to make your life easier.

    Prices available upon request!

    Rob

The wiggly pins are really loose on my wobbly shaft, and I can't find new bushings anywhere. I don't think they even make them anymore- don't suppose you'd happen to have a set of them laying around would you?
