  1. Old Bill sent me this one...

    One Thing About Canadians

One thing about Canadians is that their hearts and humor are

    always in the right place!

Jeff Janzen, a manager of a Electrical supply house in Penticton, B.C.

was asked on a local live radio talk show, just what he thought of the

allegations of torture of the Afghan prisoners, suspected terrorist

    bombers.

His reply prompted his ejection from the studio, but with

    thunderous applause from the audience.

    HIS STATEMENT:

'If hooking up an Afghan prisoner's nuts to a car's battery cables will

save just one Canadian's life or one American's life, then I have

    just three things to say;

'Red is positive, Black is negative, and make sure his nuts are wet.'

  2. Not being a trucker myself I can't actually say that I've ever seen a 53' van type trailer completely full to capacity. There is always a lot of room leftover that with careful and coordinated loading the space could be utilized. I've never pulled a 53ft trailer of any type but have several 42, and 48ft and my thought is that the 42ft is much easier to negotiate, (especially city traffic) than the 48ft. Myself I think just about as much freight could be moved with a 36' van as a 48ft van if kept regional. Several times I've seen someone pulling a 53' van in a city have to move fore and aft to jockey into position because the docks or loading/unloading areas were never designed to handle that length of trailer coupled with a long wheelbase tractor. I've had a couple cars through the shop that have had a trailer dragged over the front end also. In both of those instances, (as in so many other cases) the driver of the car was not at fault, (according to them) and readily blamed the trucking operator.

I don't think longer length is the answer either.

    Rob

Me neither, a lot of 2 lane roads i used to travel with a cabover pulling a 42' flat i just can't run any more, or I don't run them any more, because you can't keep everything on your side of the road when rounding some curves with a longer truck and trailer. And they aren't widening any turns in the cities, or making docks any bigger. I'm glad I pull a 48', most of our flats are 53s. I could never have made that turn in Ky. last week with a 53 footer, as I just barely made it with a 48.

  3. We really lucked out on the trip. I left the big truck home and went with a friend on a "vacation" trip to help him deliver an antique car. (5500 miles in 7 days; some vacation! No logbook or scale houses at any rate.) We went the week after Easter and had dry roads and warm temps all week. The week after our return, parts of Montana got 5 feet of snow.

good thing with the no log book trip-I had mine and all paperwork checked 4 times on the trip, more than i'd usually have it checked in a year around these parts.

  4. Sorry I've been a little slow to respond, I was tied up (let me rephrase that, Rob might get excited) I just got back from an undisclosed Midwest body shop and the smoke got to me. After deliberations with my colleagues, we have determined that, considering any coherent subject matter could not be established, that the thread must be allowed to continue at the discretion of the contributors. No fault or responsibility shall be placed, however a tax will be levied for the priviledge.

Spoken like a true politician! :D

  5. ME? Wadda ya talkin 'bout! :tease: I just wait for Rob to open up his vunerabilities and post it here for all to see! :loldude: Notice his avatar, the trucks are outside, parked there because they are out of fuel!:banana::banana: O'dog is just bein' selfish and not sharin' his B parts with others.

got no parts to share-they're all on the truck, and i only got the one...I'll have to beg Rob if I need any parts, that's why i'm always nice to him. And because I have so much respect and love for him as a fellow human bean-last thing i'd want would be to make him cry.

  6. Huh????? I'm totally lost!:wacko: It's better if I was shown in person, then I can get the concept of it! B)

OK, you're starting off- 1st. in main, lo split in compound-shift compound to direct, then to hi split. Next shift main to second, then compound back to lo split ( we're talking Mack here, triplex or quadruplex, otherwise think of it as under-direct-over ), direct, hi split. Next shift is main to 3rd, then compound back to lo split, then direct, then hi split, then main to 4th, compound to lo-split, direct, hi-split, then main to 5th. Like Herb said... Now you're in the "big hole". Carry all your 170 horsepowers on down the road...

  7. Bored? Naw, just one to take advantage of a presented opportunity.

Glad you drive one of those things? I guess you can't be held completly at fault; You don't have to pay for it as that would be the "double whammy" leaving you to peer from out from the shadows!

    Rob

Jeff offered to get me one of them new "high powered" Mack Titans, but I said "naw, what would Rob do for entertainment then?", so I declined .

  8. "Fixin' that post" (or,what he meant to say) See how that Rob is, Larry? Rob's Always blaming somebody else. That is what's wrong with this country. We've gone off in the ditch and Rob's responsible. On the other hand, Other Dog is a fine fellow...wtf?!! gee, where'd this lightning come from?..sky was clear a minute ago...

    get under a tall tree,quick!..just kiddin'! :D
